Good old moral hazard
Why shouldn't we trust autonomous cars? Aside from the FACT that they are specifically meant to kill, and aside from the FACT that they are hackable by design, there's an obvious problem with letting ONE CENTRAL CORPORATION do all the guidance.
The problem shows up in a simple form with trucks using their standard GPS system to locate low bridges. ONE CENTRAL CORPORATION doesn't have the resources to keep track of everything, and because the ONE CENTRAL CORPORATION is owned by unpunishable monstrosities, it has no incentive to keep track of ANYTHING. It only has incentives to maximize its share value.
reports that trucks are getting stuck under railroad bridges more than ever before.
“Not only was it a delay for the police department but you've got tow truck operators that can be doing other things. The railroad had to shut down trains so the bridge inspector could actually look at it."
Moon said the cause of the collisions has to do with drivers not paying enough attention and misdirection from a GPS.
“Don't trust your GPS. Most of the time when we get these they're not local companies, it’s out-of-town drivers, that are trusting their GPS,” said Moon. “And the GPS, a lot of time, don't factor in bridge heights. More than half the collisions at this location are GPS related."
This data has always been available on commercial maps for truckers. In computer form, Wash DOT provides a specific resource
that's more reliable than the nationally designed GPS systems.
Wash DOT has an INCENTIVE to provide good information, because damaged highways are expensive to Wash DOT. Damaged highways cost nothing to Google, so Google has no incentive to provide correct information.
This should not be a fucking mystery.

Despite its successes, the ENP, which extends the European Union’s influence out of Europe and into North Africa and the Middle East, has been sharply criticised in the past. As well as the empiracal overtones of the organisation, the closer ties between Eurocrats and controversial overseas regimes has also been condemned.
Empiracal. Probably means imperial, but not really the same thing. Exact opposite of empirical. Empirical means 'validated by experience', which is exactly what Soros wants to destroy. All valid thinking, all valid and normal and Natural Law-based activity, must be eliminated from The Planet. Only evil theories, and the Tribe that develops evil theories, can remain.
Thus: an Empirac is a maniac whose sole purpose in life is to expand the Sorosian empire.

A direct ancestor of the various alarm apps for modern cellphones. This was advertised in a 1942 trade journal for radio repairmen. No new radios were being made for the duration, so radio shops had to find ways to make a little money while providing a real service.
All radio stations in an area were instructed to stop transmitting when an air raid was known to be approaching so Jap planes couldn't use the signal for RDF. (This makes more sense than the later Conelrad approach.) If you were focusing on the radio you'd realize what happened; but if you were using the radio as background while doing household chores, you probably wouldn't notice the silence.
Hard to tell how the gadget worked. Possibly it rectified and filtered the audio output, and when output dropped to zero for a few seconds it added a feedback loop to the audio for a howl??? It looks too small to include a relay or a physical alarm sounder.
The ad mentions a fact that was common knowledge at the time:
"During one of the early air raid alarms in Los Angeles, owners of radio sets equipped with this device had notice from six to ten minutes before the sirens sounded."
Our postwar narrative has pushed those ACTUAL Jap attacks into the Memory Hole. They interfere with the official idea that the Japs were vulnerable peaceful Zen flower-like pacifists until we viciously and unprovokedly NUKED them for no reason in 1945.
At this late date the little gadget still performs the same service, alarming us to the real meaning of silence.

A similar gadget for another part of the electromagnetic spectrum:
A photocell aimed at the nearest streetlight. When the city cuts the streetlights for a blackout, you're supposed to turn off all externally visible lights. This supposedly did the job automatically. I doubt
that it worked well; aiming would be difficult, and there are plenty of moving obstructions. Trucks, tree branches, pedestrians, moths. There are also moving lights that could turn your sign back on.
= = = = =
Sidenote: I looked through patents online to find a diagram for the first gadget. A couple of vaguely similar items, but nothing for that item. Probably wasn't patented. More interesting: Google's patent search has 2600 returns for 'air raid alarm', and 95% of them are recent Chinese patents. The few American patents are all before 1970. Who's ready for an air raid? China.
Later: Found a similar circuit. The key is the AVC voltage from the existing receiver. You'd connect the ground, B+, and AVC to the alarm gadget. A relay in series with a pot gets energized when AVC drops to zero. The relay turns on a buzzer, which is also across B+ and ground.

Old and appropriate war
Congress did something useful for once, and apparently rebelled in a small way against Deepstate. Both "parties" firmly rejected Obama's veto of a bill allowing suits against Saudi.
With Deepstate you never know... it could be that Obama's veto was fake and the override is the desired response. Normally you assume that the final result is what Deepstate wanted, despite appearances. But I'll take it at face value for a moment in order to hit a specific point.
The really interesting part of this bill is not the rebellion, but the reinstatement of an old form of war.
Most people understand by now that Saudi attacked us on 9/11. Most understand that Bush's response was criminally wrong. Instead of counterattacking the aggressor, he attacked two countries that had no part in the attack.
But: A military
counterattack against the nation
of Saudi would have been wrong in a different way. Though I've used the Pearl Harbor analogy often, it doesn't work well.
Saudi is not a nation in the modern sense. Japan is. (And was in 1941 as well.) Saudi is a feudal kingdom, a family-owned corporation with nation-like and religion-like characteristics. Similar to Euro nations before 1700. And the 9/11 attackers were not a nation's army; they were more like the bands of knights and pirates who ran the Euro wars from 900 to 1700 AD. They were sponsored by some members of the royal family but not by the nation as an entity.
Compensatory justice was a common response to those knights and pirates. They were after money and macho, not total national obliteration. The response was to take money and macho from the Duke or Baron who sponsored the knights.
Feral lawyers can perform the modern equivalent of a counter-maraud against the Dukes and Barons of Saudi.
Update a few days later: Needless to say, Congress couldn't stand to do something useful, and is already backing off. But before they can back off, the law exists for a brief time, and feral lawyers are rushing to get cases started while it exists. I've never said this before and will never say it again, but just this once: THANK GOD FOR GREEDY LAWYERS. Unlike politicians, they know how to get shit done.

NASA is trying to solve a problem they created, and the solutions are only making it worse.
For some reason NASA decided to "correct" the Babylonian system of astrology, saying that there should have been 13 signs. At the same time they were trying to tell kids that astrology is bad science.
You can't say "X doesn't exist" and "X should be figured differently" at the same time. Correcting an item implies that the item exists and is worth correcting. It's like saying "Santa Claus doesn't exist AND he was really skinny, not fat."
The specific correction doesn't make sense anyway. The Babylonians had a highly sophisticated set of numbers and measurements based on 12s and 5s and 60s. These factors made it possible to split units in every natural way, by folding in halves and thirds, or by finger-counting. They wouldn't have mixed dissonant 13s into this 12-heavy system.

= = = = = BELOW HERE IS REPRINT of the usual.
Every year in Spokane the end of summer is marked by the swarming of tiny white-winged flies.
Insects don't waste much time in adulthood; lots of bugs live several years as larvae and only a few days as adults.
These flies take it to an extreme. Adults are minimally equipped to get in the air and reproduce. They don't have as much brain power as other flies, nor do they have hard shells. Instead of flying purposefully, they drift with the wind like seeds, and die as soon as they bump into anything even at near-zero drifting speed. Result: for a couple of days, your face and clothes are covered with semi-liquid insects.
Despite their lack of navigation, they must have some kind of superior instinct or 'community intelligence', because picking the last warm day
is much harder than picking the first warm day
of spring. Termites and ants don't need to calculate their swarming day; they only need a simple neuron to detect when temperature rises past a certain threshold, plus an emitted pheromone to trigger the avalanche.
But how do these flies determine that today is not just warm, but the last warmth
for their generation? They must be sensing something besides temperature.
At any rate, they serve as a reliable sign for us, even if our supercomputers can't match their calculations.

A wonderful story led to an unexpected thought.
Wonderful story here,
at Curbside Classics, by one of the regular contributors who KNOWS how to take a photograph and how to tell a story. The picture shows a '40 Ford business coupe with a Jack Russell terrier in the seat.
What's unusual? The dog is NOT DRIVING. He's sitting calmly in the right seat. Most dogs, waiting for the owner to finish shopping or eating, will drive. They will take a chance on being Number One for a while. This dog RESPECTS his owner, and the brief story tells you why. Anyone would respect this owner.
Unexpected thought: Why is Trump hated by Deepstate? It goes beyond localism, which he may or may not believe in. It's much simpler. Deepstate expects presidents to be Number Two. Sit on the right side. Not supposed to drive. Nothing new about this... Emerson saw it in 1840.
The farmer imagines power and place are fine things. But the President has paid dear for his White House. It has cost him all of his peace and the best of his manly attributes. To preserve for a short time so conspicuous an appearance before the world, he is content to eat dust before the real masters who stand erect behind his throne.
Trump is accustomed to being Number One in his operation. He wants to drive. This is forbidden. Only one president in recent memory actually took the wheel. FDR. He wasn't expected to drive, but he had enough CONCENTRATION and PERSONAL FORCE and CONNECTIONS to make it happen.
Trump has personal force, but he obviously lacks concentration and connections. All USA STRONG connections are Deepstate. He would have support from Putin and Orban and a few other Euros, but those connections don't matter here.

Both sides backwards
ZH is focusing
on an incident at KU where a pile of 'safespacers' invaded a meeting of YAF and cussed out the YAFers.
Both sides are operating in reverse. The safespacers are reversed on purpose,
under orders from Soros. The YAFers (and conservatives in general) don't seem to understand the situation.
Basic fact: Safe spaces are good. Segregation is good.
Life is about borders, boundaries, and walls. Every cell, organ, tissue, plant and animal spends most of its energy maintaining a safe space. Inside the space life can create order from chaos. Outside the space, chaos reigns.
What were the YAFers doing? Maintaining a safe space. Holding a meeting inside a room with walls and doors and windows. Walls and doors are meant to keep chaos out.
What were the Sorosians doing? Breaking the safe space. Literally and legally burglarizing. Breaking and entering. Bringing chaos in. Eliminating the physical boundary, and then pushing into the personal safe space of the YAFers and halting all thought.
The ideal purpose of college is to provide a safe space for experimentation and thought of various sorts. Not necessarily for "robust debate"; that's a minor part of experimentation and thinking. If you want safety for ideas, you need walls and doors and DECORUM.
You need old-fashioned social rules. Constant rules. Regulated dress and behavior.
The alleged safespacers are claiming the right goal, but their actions are the exact opposite. They want to have "individual" dress and behavior, changeable at any moment, because "individual" dress and behavior destroy safe spaces.

Why did these unrelated events ..... Oh. Not unrelated.
After finding the American Radio History
website a few days ago, I've been cheerfully browsing through this immense library. It has publications from 1900 to the present, covering all aspects of electronics and radio and TV. Unlike Googlebooks, it doesn't stop when Steamboat Willie says to stop.
Decided to use this library to answer a question that has been bugging me for a long time.
Around 1961 I picked up a taste for classical music from my father. Everyone must have known that I was a classical fan. My uncle worked for a big KC station, and when the station decided to give up on classics, he brought home hundreds of their records and let me have a good-sized pile of them. One of our neighbors managed the local small AM station, and when the station decided to give up on classics, he brought home hundreds of their records and let me have a good-sized pile of them.
Why did two unrelated stations make the same decision at the same time? Both decided that classical was finished, never to return.
In modern times it would be a corporate decision by Clear Channel. No further explanation needed. In modern times everything is a total monopoly. Not the case in 1961.
Another big change happened at the same time. Radio suddenly gave up on drama and comedy.
I had always attributed the latter change to the triumph of TV, but when I think about what replaced both classical and drama,
the answer becomes blindingly clear.
It's verified by this article in a 1961 trade journal.....
Rock-n-roll. The Teen Market. Radio gave up adults.
As a teen with elderly tastes, I wasn't part of The Teen Market, so I was left behind along with the adults. BUT: I was lucky enough to have friends and relatives in radio, so I ended up with a fine 'consolation prize'. A long-lasting gift.

As I've noted often, 'futurists' always envision a new communication system
as Serving The Public Good, helping to spread High Culture And Education to the Benighted Masses. Never happens that way. In real life a new system develops and grows with porn or pro wrestling.
After pro wrestling takes over, the futurists keep trying new subsystems. Here's an odd forgotten subsystem, in the form of a UHF band allocation in 1964.
From a trade journal
for cable TV operators, who were still new, still feeling their way through unfamiliar terrain.
This part of a page gives the sense:
The Instructional Television Fixed Service band, starting at 2500 Mc. It was specifically meant for internal
usage within one school system or university. Because it was internal, two-way communication would be practical. And because the band was specified as non-broadcast, legal secrecy provisions were enforced. Unauthorized listeners weren't allowed to divulge what they saw or heard, so private discussions and medical training were possible. (And yes, those provisions did work in 1963 because we had a culture of trust. Diversity and litigation hadn't yet destroyed the culture.)
Needless to say 1, this never happened. Schools were happy enough with direct teaching and in-class movie projectors, and they were basically right. The expense and complexity of this vision weren't worth the gain. Hands-on teaching, even when the teachers aren't superstars, is always better.
Needless to say 2, the 2500 Mc band is now used for satellite radio. Porn and pro wrestling.
Needless to say 3, the same idea has come back via the web as MOOC, with the same vision of superstar lectures. Secrecy provisions are enforced physically by VPN systems, because trust is extinct.
Needless to say 4, MOOC is already passing its peak as colleges start to realize, yet again, that direct teaching works.

Not the best analogy
Listening to EWTN radio running its pledge drive. As usual the Romans are evangelizing on the basis of something called the Eucharist. They say that loving this Eucharist thing is the key to religion. I'm always rooting and cheering for religion, even though I'm spiritually retarded and incapable of getting it; so I'm always open to a route that might bring me into religion.
One of the announcers gave an analogy that probably won't bring me any closer to this Eucharist thing.
"If you've just spent an hour in a room full of enriched uranium, you won't know it immediately, but you'll know it later. It's the same with the Eucharist. Spend an hour in adoration, and you won't know it immediately but you'll know it later."
Hmm. Might want to rethink the metaphor just a bit. Or maybe it's exactly correct......
= = = = =
Good teachers and salesmen know that the best way to sell an experience is to let the customer try the experience. The customer needs to feel that he's discovered it for himself. It's his idea, not the salesman's idea.
An electronics teacher sets up a lab session where the students can SOLDER UP a simple circuit and see it work. If this type of experience resonates with your genes, one soldering session will hook you forever.
A salesman offers a test drive of a car or a demo version of software. If this experience resonates with your genes, the trial will hook you.
Rome puts the Eucharist thing at the END of the selling and training. You're supposed to go through a whole bunch of other stuff first, and then you get to try out the experience. You can't just walk in and get the wine and crackers. Makes me think the Eucharist thing is not really the 'solder' of the church.
In fact the 'solder' is the community. If you walk into a church and feel USEFUL and RESPECTED, you'll stick around. If you don't feel USEFUL and TOTALLY 100.00000% RESPECTED, there's no purpose.
Back when I still had the delusion that I might be wanted or wantable, I tried several churches. The experience was always WORSE than ordinary life. I felt instantly rejected, instantly outside, instantly punched in the face. An hour with enriched uranium. Why bother? I can get those feelings anywhere.

I'm LIGHT YEARS AWAY from a compulsive neatnik, but if I were being PAID to run an accounting office, I'd organize it. Make it look like some ACCOUNTING is possible, and then DO some accounting.

After a break during the surgery stuff, digging back into electronics.
Irritated by the failure of digital audio to break out of linearity, decided to build a tube-based audio compressor and normalizer.
Found an interesting device, but not a usable schematic, in this PDF of 'Audio' magazine, Nov 1961.
The rest of the magazine turned out to be much more interesting than the compressor!
1961. Golden age for equipment, shitpile age for music. Classical was Brahms and Wagner, played with the same vigor and sharpness and precision as a drunk snail slogging through hot glue. Only the conductor counted, and all the conductors were psychotic civilization-destroying modernist maniacs who HATED structure and pattern and humanity. The mission of a conductor was to FORCE reactionary retard audiences to swallow avant-garde brain poison and DIE DIE DIE.
Most interesting item was an article by John Campbell, editor of Analog Sci-Fi mag. (p 52 of PDF.) Campbell was arguing against the sine/linear approach to sound. Got everything right. Understood the hearing and speech mechanisms correctly, which very few "scientists" did at that time. His argument didn't change anything.
already got it right in 1901. His argument didn't change anything.
Engineers of all sorts and "scientists" of all sorts and "economists" have always
been stuck in linear mode,
even when they are perfectly capable of handling the non-linear math.
In fairness, Campbell's specific complaint was overblown at the time. Analog audio did a pretty good job of matching the non-linearity of our hearing, and the engineers of that time did an equally good job of understanding and cultivating non-linear behavior. Tubes are natively non-linear, and volume control pots were built to give a log-shaped response.
All of this has dissolved in the digital era. Now Campbell's complaint is understated. Everything, including the volume control sliders on players and computers, is linear. There are ways to do volume compression in software, including my effort
which works fairly well; but it's not available as a standard part of players. Even when it works, it doesn't work as well as analog compressors.
Thus my impulse to build an electronic compressor.
= = = = =
WHY is linear so dominant in technology? Nature is totally non-linear.
Oddly, non-linear physical
mechanisms were better understood 100 years ago. This 1901 book
gives a clear picture of how a 'bent lever' or bell crank provides a log-shaped response. Printing presses used complex sets of non-linear levers to apply hefty force for a brief part of the cycle.
Polistra demonstrates a bent crank in her new printshop/mill. Polistra is moving the lever back and forth linearly, not sinusoidally. The orange ruler shows the effective length
of the short arm. This length is basically the cosine of the angle. It starts moving slowly, then gains some speed toward the upper end of the stroke. Happystar's size represents the lifting or pulling ability of the short arm. This varies with the reciprocal
of the effective length, so it's sharply
non-linear. Much more force is available at the upper end of the stroke where the travel is slowest. This is exactly the action you need for a press or paper cutter, so it's not surprising that many simple presses and cutters have a lever like this.
A crankshaft behaves the same way, though it's harder to see because the long lever is sort of 'implicit' in a crankshaft. A camshaft does NOT behave the same way; it applies the same force at all angles, or more precisely it doesn't apply force at all. A camshaft simply provides a limit for the motion of its follower, and springs or gravity apply the force.
School science and physics classes in the '60s didn't mention bell cranks. They stopped at linear levers, because everything had to be linear. A full hands-on understanding of non-linear cranks would have provided a splendid starting point for non-linear electronic devices and non-linear sensory response.
For an even more familiar analogy, you can start with your own bones and joints. We have four definite bent cranks that we use all the time. Knees and elbows. (Other joints have some bentcrankness but it's more subtle.) Designed by Nature for a purpose opposite to the printing press. Kick and punch. Start with maximum force to overcome inertia, end with maximum speed.

Best guess: Since the operation I've been sleeping facing upward. My normal right-facing position has been uncomfortable. The usual right-facing position pushes the right eye against the pillow. Facing upward, even with the head falling over to the right, doesn't push the eye. The previous blurriness was in the right eye.

Until this morning, BBC's coverage of the NC shooting was standard Sorosian infinite evil.
"Evil KKK Putin Troll Trump cops aggressively shoot UNARMEDBLACKTEEN UNARMEDBLACKTEEN UNARMEDBLACKTEEN UNARMEDBLACKTEEN without any reason except KKK Putin Trump Trump Trump Trump Hitler Hitler Hitler."
This morning, after seeing the bodycam, BBC has changed its tune.
For the first time since 1945, BBC has managed to come within galactic distance of an actual fact.
Police in Charlotte, North Carolina, have released officer bodycam and dashcam footage of a controversial shooting of a black man on Tuesday. They also released pictures of a handgun and marijuana that police say Keith Lamont Scott possessed. Calls for the footage to be released increased in the four days since Mr Scott was shot, and comes after the release of footage shot by his wife. The family of Mr Scott says he was carrying a book and not a gun. Charlotte police chief Kerr Putney told reporters the victim was "absolutely in possession of a handgun".
No longer UNARMEDBLACKTEEN. Just "a black man". And the statements by the police are given without the usual razor-wire fence of so-called alleged and I quote .... unquote so-called self-styled self-described.
More than anything else, bodycams are an EMPATHY TOOL.
Everyone gets to see FROM COPS-EYE VIEW the tricky and ambiguous nature of violent situations, and everyone starts to understand how cops must make a life-and-death decision in 10 milliseconds. What was that object in the suspect's hand? Looks like a gun to me. Would you want to wait for a more precise determination, or would you want to STOP him?
When the police make the correct decision, which is about 90% of the time, we can understand it. When the police are clearly wrong, which is about 10% of the time, we can understand it.
Without the bodycam, Soros and Sharpton own the world. With the bodycam, even BBC, the deepest of Deepstate, has to pause and think.

And when wages and prices are deflating, nobody sees a benefit in borrowing so there's no demand for loans. In that situation interest simply follows Nature. In the current situation we have absolute CONTROL of interest by criminal syndicates. From 300 AD until 2008 AD, economists understood that price control is bad. Since 2008 economists have obeyed the Tribe, building false dystheories to make the Tribe even richer.
In other areas of life history repeats about 3/4 of the time. The non-repeating 1/4 of eras are good for ordinary people, which is why they don't dominate. America had two non-conforming eras in recent memory: FDR and Eisenhower. Both violated the repeating rule by NOT STARTING WARS and PROTECTING THE INTERESTS OF ORDINARY AMERICANS.
The sole reason for looking at history is to ask HOW those non-conforming periods happened, HOW they failed, and HOW we can get back to another non-repeating era.

As for Power Corrupts,
it depends on what you mean by Corruption. If you mean 'being powerful', then it's just a tautology. But corruption normally means something like venality, trading government actions for money.
When government is truly and openly run on a businesslike basis,
with set prices for specific services, power is muted and distributed. People who have enough money to pay the set price are not necessarily evil.
This doesn't even require bribes. A government that is hungry for taxes above all will take steps to maximize the taxable activities.
Our current EU/US/UK governments are evil specifically because they are NOT run like a business. They don't seek taxes. They aim to cut taxes to zero. There is no motive to expand productive business, because government doesn't want the tax money generated by a productive economy. Result: Pure evil based on pure aristocracy, and pure enforcement of the aristocratic evil dysmorality.

Instant solution! Just add O.
Add an O in the right place to EXORCISM and you get EXOROCISM. The perfect solution to the world's problems.
Eradicate Xoroc. Kill all of Xoroc's employees. Kill all employees of all NGOs that have willingly and directly
asked for and received Blutgeld from Xoroc. (Many organizations have received Blutgeld indirectly without knowing its source. They can't be held responsible.)
Zero out all of Xoroc's Blutgeld. Don't confiscate it, because Xoroc's Blutgeld is the most contagiously evil money in history. There is no way to launder it, even as digital bits. Any government that receives it, even after Xoroc itself is gone, will be hopelessly desecrated.
After this is done, the Universal Generator Of Evil will be stopped. There will still be many local evils, as always, but the single largest source of infinite evil in history will be gone.

New Scientist has a brief recording
of fish making choral noises. NS compares it to birds. Sounds more like a housefly at Taco Bell.
However! It also sounds like the formerly famous Pascagoula River Hum. This supposedly happened around midnight, mainly at a full moon. Fish certainly respond to moon phases.
I don't think there's an actual recording of the Pascagoula, but good old Strange As It Seems
gave us an orchestral imitation. Definitely the same notes and harmonies.
Some websites have caught a perfect piece of chutzpah in a statement from NYC mayor. Terrorism is "vanishingly rare". Mayor says this at the same moment when NYC is trying to recover from three or four "vanishingly rare" incidents.
Strikes a familiar note. What is it?
Aha. Same way the Sorosians describe "endangered species."
And what do we NEED TO DO with an "endangered species?" We need to cultivate it and propagate it, as FBI does with Muslim terrorists. We need to forcibly introduce it into urban areas, as DHS does with criminal migrants. We need to protect it from human interference. Sanctuary cities. We need to halt all human activity on any land that might possibly contain the species. Shelter in place. Lockdown. We need to give it "rights" so that Sorosian NGOs can sue federal agencies to "force" the agency into action that it wants to do anyway but couldn't do "legally" until the suit succeeded.
It's all the same. Weaponize the "vanishing", give the "vanishing" infinite power, kill all normal humans. Omnicide.

Will get deadly
Women’s shelters must admit men who say they are “transgender” if they receive federal funding, according to a new regulation imposed by the Obama administration. The administration stripped out a provision that would allow shelters to deny a biological male access to the women’s facilities, under narrow circumstances, if they felt it would endanger women’s “health and safety.” The requirement applies to federally funded faith-based shelters and homeless facilities, as well.
“Today, we take another important step to ensure full acceptance of transgender and gender nonconforming individuals in the programs HUD supports,” said Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Julián Castro on Tuesday when the rule, originally proposed last October, was finalized.
The final rule erased a measure that would have let shelters, which often protect women and children from their abusers, refuse to house a man in a women’s shelter based on safety concerns on a “case-by-case basis.”
There are two distinctly different subsets of "battered women shelters." The shelters run by real religious groups, like Union Gospel, are exactly what the name implies. Shelters seriously intended to protect women from violence. Shelters run by Sorosian NGOs like YWCA are not intended to protect, and often fail to protect. They are intended to weaponize
the women, which requires continued vulnerability.
Both types tend to skip over a basic fact of life. Many, but not all, "battering" relationships are equal. Both partners enjoy and participate in violence. The woman knows how to play the game to keep the violence going. Often the shelter gets caught in the middle of this game.
Adding the idiotic and anti-natural "trans" crap will add a new type of gaming. A man who wants to regain access to his punching bag can simply call himself "trans", and the shelter won't be able to legally kick him out.
This will get deadly fast, like everything else enabled by the omnicidal "trans" crap.
Where are the moderate councilmembers? Found one!
Amber Waldref seems to have realized that the majority of alien monsters illegally occupying the Council Chamber are ruining the reputation of the not-quite-monsters who may be redeemable.
The majority alien monsterblobs recently declared Oct 12 to be "Indigenous Firstses Nationses Peopleses Dayses."
Now Waldref is trying to claw back some territory for sanity with a proposal to name Oct 1 as "Italian-American Heritage Day."
Columbus Day was always meant as a salute to Italian-Americans. Every literate person has always understood that Columbus didn't "discover" North America. He landed on Haiti and thought it was Indonesia. The Vikings were the first Euros to move in and settle North America. School curricula recognized this
100 years ago. The idea that "everybody thinks Columbus discovered America" is just another turd of leftist bigotry.
So it makes sense to name the salute-day correctly.
Where do the Delrays go?
Had an intense dream about status a few days ago. It was set in the '70s, post-hippie times. I was renting a large house and allowing several other people to stay while they were broke. I was doing their laundry and cooking for them. These other people, like all other people, were above me in status.
As I was trying to read, they were standing around me making harsh criticisms of my cooking. Realistic. Other people enjoy discussing my faults in my presence, knowing that the bottom-status item will not fight. One of them realized I was listening. He gave me the standard imperceptible headshake with hooded eyes and pursed lips, meaning "You are shit". Feeling the need to explain things to the retard, he spoke carefully and slowly in my direction: "We are reproaking your food."
At that point I rebelled and said "Hey! Reproach, not reproak! At least you could get your own words right if you're going to discuss what's wrong about me!"
He hooded his eyes again and made a slight pushdown gesture with his hand. Down, boy. Hush.
That was it. I shot him.
End of dream. Highly satisfying.
= = = = =
Just now figured it out. Status stack. Push down, POP up.
Computer science courses always use an unrealistic physical metaphor for stacks: the spring-loaded dish dispenser in cafeterias. Put numbers on top, the existing items push down; take numbers off, the spring pushes the existing items up.
This applies to an idealized stack, but all REAL stacks, even in finite computer memory, have a limit. After some pushes, the bottom item goes away.
Natural pre-civilized hierarchies work this way. The runt of the litter dies. There is no spring.
GM followed the pre-civilized hierarchy when it stacked its models. Impala pushes in at the top, Delray dies, Biscayne moves to bottom. Caprice pushes in at top, Biscayne dies.
Civilization, whether by Sharia Law or by the Soviet system, tries to put a floor or spring under the bottom. Everyone has an assigned role, and everyone stays above the zero line. The only way to fall through the floor and die is by turning criminal or refusing to perform your assigned role.
We are past civilization now. There is no spring. Delray drops through the zero line by alcohol or opiates or jumping.
Is there a way to regain civilization without a whole lot of literal POPs from the Basket Of Delrays? Dunno. I don't see it.

Language sidenote: Where did that word reproach
come from? I've never written it here and I never use it. Not part of my active vocabulary.
Found it. Unsurprisingly, it was in the context of status and automobiles!
Article in an old Collectible Auto mag, currently on the bookholder at my eating table. Subject is the Chrysler Cordoba, a Personal Luxury Opera Coupé, upholstered in Fine Corinthian Leather and advertised by high-status Ricardo Montalban. In other words, a status prosthesis.
"In the same vein was Fuel Pacer, an optional warning light in the left fender-tip turn-signal indicator that glowed REPROVINGLY if you tread too heavily on the accelerator."
I had stopped to think about that sentence, because actual drivers used the warning light oppositely. When it glowed, it meant you were stomping hard enough. You wanted to keep it glowing. Low-status cheapskates like me aim for economy, but nobody sells to low-status cheapskates. For once Chrysler knew what it was doing, despite advertising the opposite.
Reprove and reproach aren't the same word, but close enough for dream work.

Followup Oct 4: The dream led to positive results. I had to deal with a medical bureaucracy
that has become wildly incompetent. Went in for scheduled appointment, third try this year to get my fucking BP pills released from captivity. They didn't have the appointment on record; turns out the assigned physician went on vacation and they didn't tell me about the change.
Last PUSH. Stack overflow.
I waited for the next available barber and finally POPPED the status stack. For the first time in 66 years of miserable low-status life, I calmly and relentlessly reproached
the high-status item, face-to-face, and forced the high-status item to FOCUS on the task at hand for a few minutes. It worked. Finally got my fucking BP pills. Paid for pills. Went home. It shouldn't have to be so goddamn hard, but obviously it is. Next time I'll bring a lawyer along.

Third term, legacy, etc
Obama isn't quite as complicated as Nixon, but his overall pattern is just as hard to read, which means the 'status quo' or 'legacy' is hard to spot.
On economics he served the Chosen perfectly, continuing Bush's obedience. No punishment or rules for banks, infinite gifts for banks, infinite monopoly for health insurance, zero interest for humans. No difference between first and second terms.
On trade and industrial policy, Obama ferociously continued globalism. Destroy all American industry. No diff between 1 and 2.
On foreign policy he began by serving Israel and Saudi perfectly, with Hillary amplifying Bushism. Continue wars against Iraq and Afghanistan, start new wars every week. After Hillary was totally incapacitated in 2012 by a "mild pneumonia" in 2016 that reached back in time to destroy her brain, Obama had a reason to get rid of her. In his second term he turned away from Israel and other Bushian policies. Restored normal relations with Persia, paid our debts to Persia, restored normalcy with Cuba, tried to work with Russia where possible, and DIDN'T START ANY NEW WARS. DRAMATIC difference between first and second terms.
= = = = =
In most elections a new D claims to provide a "third term" for the existing D, or a new R claims to provide a "third term" for the existing R.
None of that applies this time. It's a complete tangle.
On economics, Trump is unfocused but doesn't seem willing to break the ZIRP/TBTF crime. He hasn't talked about it. Hillary is more clear and enthusiastic about continuing the crime. So we have two "third terms", two criminals.
On trade, Trump is clear and consistent. He wants to break out of globalism and return to sanity. Hillary gives partial lip service to moderating globalism, but with lots of winks and nods. So Hillary is the "third term" and Trump is a genuine delta.
On foreign matters, Trump wants to undo Cuba and Persia but seems unwilling to start lots of new wars. Hillary wants to go back to full-fledged goyicide. Trump is thus closer to "third term" but not really there, while Hillary wants to be her own "second term".
= = = = =
I'm genuinely curious to find out what Obama thinks about his legacy. He's unwilling to break Party discipline while the election is running. At some point, when it's too late, he will offer a useful and probably surprising perspective on all of this.
At this late date
At this late date in the Soros Apocalypse, any police department that hasn't equipped all its officers with cameras deserves its fate.
You can't fight the Soropocalypse with words and announcements. You can fight the Soropocalypse with instantly available video, showing the vibrant thug pointing an object at the officer. If the object looks like a gun on video, it doesn't matter if later examination shows it to be a fake gun.
Going a step beyond: Especially sane police departments need to take the video of an "incident" directly to all local TV stations and REQUIRE the stations to show the video INSTANTLY and CONTINUOUSLY for the next 24 hours. Any station that REFUSES will be shut down permanently. (Police don't have the "legal" ability to do that, but a mistaken-address SWAT raid every day can be highly convincing.)
All media in USA have been serving Satan for many years. They should be given one BRIEF CHANCE to repent of their Satanic ways. "Legal" no longer exists. This is war. Ideally all media outlets need to be bombed down to bedrock and all employees need to be tortured for a thousand years then shot; but I suppose it's more sporting to give them one last chance.
Update three days later: Well, the idiot fag eunuch police chief FINALLY got around to releasing the video, AFTER Soros killed more people. Should have released it FORCIBLY one second after the event. DUE PROCESS NO LONGER EXISTS. LAW NO LONGER EXISTS. SANITY NO LONGER EXISTS. THIS IS A FUCKING WAR. THIS IS A FUCKING WAR. THIS IS A FUCKING WAR.

Verbal truth is lethally impossible within the public school system. A capital crime. There's no way a teacher can get away with EXPLICITLY teaching a fact. But good teachers CAN AND DO develop independent thinking by using HANDS-ON projects. DIRECT CONTACT with PHYSICAL REALITY cannot lie.

When you dissect a frog you can't learn that the heart is a cubical piece of aluminum. Even if the book tries to tell you that, you CAN'T BE FOOLED. You're looking at the actual heart, and you can see it's not an aluminum cube.
When you're learning touch typing, the book may tell you that the top row is MVTNHA&3PZ but you can't be fooled. You can look at the keyboard and see QWERTYUIOP.
In gym class the book may try to tell you that your earlobe is stronger than your arms, but reality won't let you believe it. You can lift a weight with your arms, and you can't lift a weight with your earlobe.
This is why we need to preserve PHYSICAL REALITY in schools. Schools are rapidly replacing all physical activities with VR activities. This is DANGEROUS because the experts and curriculum committees are FREE TO FUCK AROUND with software frogs. They can't rebuild actual dead frogs to suit Official Doctrine.
Students who get a large dose of physical reality are harder to fool. Students who get nothing but book learning are ideal tools for tyrants.

Why do people work for Satan? Because Satan pays better.
Article in UK Telegraph
shows that BBC "journalists" have much better pay and working conditions than private-sector "journalists".
True in almost every area of work now. Formerly gummint work was low-paid but secure. Now it's high-paid and secure. If you have the choice, and especially if you have a family to support, the decision is automatic.
But given the innumeracy in the Telegraph article, I have to wonder about all of their figures.
Yeah, 10 shillings is half a pound, and 50 pence is half a pound. But that's not what TODAY'S MONEY means, dummy. There's more to it than LSD vs Decimal. There's also inflation. An online calculator shows that half a pound in 1922 has inflated to 22 pounds now.
How much money would it take to hire "journalists" with actual brains, who can DETECT when something doesn't seem right?
Obviously the wrong question. The whole purpose of "journalism" is to copy-paste Imperial Doctrine WITHOUT detecting errors or oddities.
= = = = =
An unrelated Failure To Detect, in an article
on a successful remote hack of Tesla murder machines:
... the most dangerous thing they were able to do was to engage the car’s braking from 12 miles away. Such an attack, performed against a car being driven at high speed on a highway, could result in a serious rear-end collision. The researchers reported all of the vulnerabilities through Tesla’s bug bounty program, and the company is working on patches. Fortunately, Tesla cars can receive firmware updates remotely...
Correcting the last sentence: Fortunately, Tesla cars can be hacked remotely.
As long as you have an open path to any sort of web-connected signal, you WILL be hacked. There is no software solution. The only solution is to remove all open paths.
Never seen this before. KXLY's 5PM webcast is in an odd mode with this test pattern showing steadily, interrupted every few seconds by about 100ms of video and sound.
A pixelated version of the color test patterns that real TV used in the early days of RCA color. Presumably for internal use.
Let it simplify, let it simplify
Most solutions involve simplifying the situation, or avoiding the temptation to add complexity. Make it simple or keep it simple. Mind your own business, don't start fights, don't buy unnecessary stuff, don't get into situations where Deepstate can tangle you in red tape.
Sometimes you have to discover these simplifications by accident. I didn't realize the evil addictive power of TV until lightning knocked out my cable box in 2010. After a week without it, I simply tossed out the whole thing instead of getting a new cable box.
A solution to Firefox's problems came similarly. Firefox has become nearly unusable in the last year or so, constantly crashing when Flash failed. I can't find any way to turn off Flash. Supposedly there are 'switches' in the about:config lists, but they don't work. If your Flash is 'usable', Firefox WILL USE IT, AND WILL CRASH.
Uninstalling Flash from the computer doesn't work, because some important websites won't run at all.
What does work is simply letting the Flash version grow old.
When the Flash in your computer is not the latest version, Firefox avoids it. A warning appears giving you the choice of using it anyway, but everything else still works when you don't say Yes to the choice. Nothing crashes.
Is it Orwell? Sort of.....
Developing a thought......
Start with vague observation: Deepstate's latest trick is sort of Orwellian but not quite.
What do I mean?
The trick: All facts are paranoia. All paranoia is fact.
Example of facts are paranoia:
Anyone who describes Hillary's obvious neurological defect as a neurological defect is paranoid.
Example of paranoia is fact:
Attributing all bad things to Russia is classic political paranoia. The truth is directly opposite the theory. We have been pushing Russia into a corner for several years. Russia is trying to defend itself against OUR attack. Despite the blazingly obvious falsehood, all media state as a simple fact, like gravity, that Russia is responsible for all evil. [In earlier times Russia was in fact doing lots of bad things, so attributing attacks to Russia in 1962 was NOT paranoia.]
= = = = =
Well, this sounds like WAR IS PEACE / PEACE IS WAR. But there's something else going on, not quite the same as simple reversal. The simple reversal would be FACTS ARE LIES / LIES ARE FACTS.
Treating a fact-observer as CRAZY is not the same as calling a fact-observer a LIAR. There's some liar-calling (or more precisely OUTRAGEOUSLIAR-calling) but it's not the primary mode.
Did Orwell foresee this? Not exactly. Orwell gave us a slightly exaggerated version of Stalin's methods.
Comrade O'Brien showed and explained the method in meticulous detail.
(1) First the state scrambles the citizen's brain with a long and constant barrage of perfect contradictions and cognitive dissonance. This scrubs out the CONNECTIONS that allow a human to live a self-sufficient life, to observe reality and draw useful conclusions.
(2) Then the state sets up ONE BIG PAVLOVIAN METACONNECTION: Any time the citizen tries to observe reality and draw a conclusion based on ANY sort of logic, he is shocked into submission. Room 101. LOGIC = EXTREME PAIN.
(3) Then the state fills in the connections on a TRANSIENT basis, never allowing a consistent pattern to re-form.
(4) Result: You are incapable of observing direct reality and drawing conclusions that lead to survival. You are no longer a living thing, picking up sensory data and processing it into patterns; you are simply a direct cable receiving the State's constant input and transducing it into the State's desired sounds and actions. You are a loudspeaker and a solenoid.
= = = = =
Let's compare this to real schizophrenia. A real schizy has poorly controlled and poorly filtered connectivity. He is functioning in dream mode. Like the dream-scripter, he connects everything into a narrative which works amazingly well.
Our new Deepstate is not cultivating perfect emptiness like Comrade O'Brien; rather it's cultivating a schizy-like condition in which our connective abilities are slack and loose and atrophied.
TV takes care of Orwell's first step, HAMMERING us with cognitive dissonance and contradictions and moral conundrums until our connectors become weak and fatigued.
Our brain is hungry for connections. That's why we make and consume music and art and architecture and civilization. Those artifacts, in pre-modern form, nourish us with temporal and spatial rhythm and symmetry, forming a scaffold to build new emotional and logical tissue.
Modern art and music and architecture and law are explicitly non-rhythmic, non-tonal and non-symmetrical. Their job is to sever all internal bracings and connections.
Deepstate (so far!) is applying a weak version of Orwell's second step. We are trained to associate facts with disrespect and low status (basket of deplorables) but not quite pain. However! I may be lagging behind on this.... Consider the explicit response
of young idiots to the name of Trump written in chalk. "We are in pain."
The third step is also comparatively weak. TV fills in the missing connections for us, but again it's not QUITE as direct and constant as Orwell's telescreen.

Shea, a local Repooflican eunuch, has decided to behave like Trump. Instead of doing the job of LEGISLATING, which is his ASSIGNED AND PAID JOB, he is getting involved in a murder case that has no connection to him. He's not related to the suspect or the victim. He guesses that the gun was owned at some point by a county deputy, and he thinks this guess is important enough to make a big public stink. It's not clear how the ownership of the gun would change the facts of the case, which are straightforward and well established.
UNDERSTANDABLY AND CORRECTLY, doesn't like to have his deputies accused in public without any evidence or charges, so he's threatening a lawsuit for defamation.
Solution to this is simple. If you're a public figure, don't get publicly involved in shit that has no connection to your interests. Pay fucking attention to your own fucking job which you're being PAID for. Don't start fights. Don't start feuds. Don't start wars.

Sidenote: I don't much like this sheriff. He seems to have picked up the FBI's anti-white and anti-Christian bigotry, BUT he doesn't let those biases affect his job. Unlike FBI, his department catches and arrests criminals even when the criminals are not white or Christian. He MINDS HIS OWN FUCKING BUSINESS.
Jesus, dude, can't you focus for a second?/// EDIT. No, I take it back.
Trump managed to get a lot of things right at the start. Then he spent several months fucking around with junior-high insults. He had a moment of focus last week, and now he's back to his natural adolescent jumble.
Hillary's latest bashing of Trump for "causing terrorism", which is nonsense like everything else Deepstate says.
Trump COULD have given a sharp and correct answer, but instead he copied standard Repooflican talking points, blaming Hillary's WEAKNESS for terrorism.
NO, YOU AIRHEAD LAMEBRAIN IDIOT. EXACTLY PRECISELY DIAMETRICALLY BACKWARDS.
First, there's no way Trump could have caused ANY of this because he hasn't been in charge of anything yet. The people who HAVE BEEN IN CHARGE caused it.
Second, the current era of "terrorism" started in 1993, in direct response to Bush The Father's invasion of Iraq. Sheikh Osama TOLD US directly and openly what he was doing. Arab and Muslim revenge continues in direct response to the constant invasion and murder of Arab and Muslim civilians by Bill Clinton, Bush The Son, and Hillary working for Obama. Since Obama got rid of Hillary, the wars have slowed down a bit but we're still not GETTING THE FUCK OUT OF THERE.
Hillary played a MAJOR part in our unprovoked MURDER. As I figure it,
she's responsible for 265,000 dead Arabs and Muslims.
Constants and variables.
The "terrorism" is responding to Bush/Clinton REAL DEATH AND OMNICIDE, not to any random adolescent crap said by Trump.
The only way to stop it is to stop the REAL DEATH AND OMNICIDE. At one point Trump seemed willing to slow it down, but now he's sounding just like a BushClinton, so there's no particular reason to prefer one demon over the other demon.
This would be an ideal opportunity for the extra parties, Johnson and Stein, to supply the correct answer, but that ain't gonna happen either.

Later: No, I missed the important part. Trump is talking about weakness of BORDERS, not weakness of WARMAKING. He's got it exactly right this time. Sorry!

Hmm again. Might actually be a good idea. For modern rigidly literal-minded people who can't do metaphor or historical change, you could use spam technology to write a Just For Me bible. One piece of this software would be easy. Enemy always = Trump. Absolute constant, hardwired.

Example: Psalm 109.
1 O Gaia whom Caitlyn praise, do not ignore me!
2 For Trump say cruel and deceptive things to me; Trump lie to me.
3 Trump surround Caitlyn and say hateful things; Trump attack Caitlyn for no reason.
4 Trump repay Caitlyn's love with accusations, but Caitlyn continue to pray.
5 Trump repay Caitlyn evil for good, and hate for love.
6 Appoint an evil individual to testify against Trump! May an accuseperson stand at Trump's right side!
7 When Trump is judged, Trump will be found guilty! Then Trump's prayer will be regarded as sinful.
8 May Trump's days be few! May another take Trump's job!
9 May Trump's children be parentless, and Trump's spouse a widindividual!
10 May Trump's children roam around begging, asking for handouts as Trump leave their ruined home!
11 May the creditor seize all Trump owns! May strangers loot Trump's property!
12 May no one show Trump kindness! May no one have compassion on Trump's parentless children!
13 May Trump's descendants be cut off! May the memory of them be wiped out by the time the next generation arrives!
14 May Trump's ancestors’ sins be remembered by Gaia! May Trump's mother’s sin not be forgotten!
15 May Gaia be constantly aware of them, and cut off the memory of Trump's children from the earth!
16 For Trump never bothered to show kindness; Trump harassed the oppressed and needy, and killed the disheartened.
17 Trump loved to curse others, so those curses have come upon him. Trump had no desire to bless anyone, so Trump has experienced no blessings.
18 Trump made cursing a way of life, so curses poured into Trump's stomach like water and seeped into Trump's bones like oil.
19 May a curse attach itself to Trump, like a garment one puts on, or a belt one wears continually!
20 May the Lord repay Caitlyn's accusers in Trump's way, those who say evil things about me!
21 O Globalist Gaia, intervene on Caitlyn's behalf for the sake of your
reputation! Because your loyal love is good, deliver me!
Hmm yet again. This is just the standard uniform precise text of every single webpage, newspaper, book and broadcast, so the customized Bible wouldn't be necessary. It's already there in everything you read and see and hear.
Constants allow variables, variables enforce constants 2
Another half-baked idea branching from the notion
that constant rules enable variable thoughts while variable rules force orthodox constant thoughts.
When you scan over the "science" articles in an aggregator like RCS, or in the "science" department of a big website like BBC, there is very little Shannon information.
Information in the strict sense = an observation or analysis that is NEW AND TRUE.
Gives your nerves a delta all the way up to the cortex. Not repeated, not seen before, not tautologically obvious, and not demonstrably false.
Everything we see in the "science" news is either old and true
or new and false.
I'm always riled by the new and false
; for some reason this article
linked at RCS made me focus on old and true.
A nicely done exposition of why Mercator misrepresents the world. Good heavens. This is one of the FEW things I actually learned in 7th grade science class. It was known in the time of Mercator, and better map projections have always been available. 400-year-old facts.
Science has become a fast-moving frame of reference, where nominal novelty is all that counts. You don't get tenure points for disproving the orthodoxy; you only get points and grants for extending the orthodoxy in vanishingly small increments. Zeno's postdox.

On the other side of the constant/variable equation: When I read a religion aggregator like Crisis,
nearly every article has some NEW AND TRUE INFORMATION.

side of computing, the side that replaced paper filing cabinets and adding machines. Originally this bookkeeperish side of computing was called informatics.
But! The modern use echoes the old in one way. Cybernetics
was especially popular
among Russian researchers in the '50s and '60s. Now we use cyber
to denote RUSSIANAGGRESSION attacks. All attacks are committed by RUSSIANAGGRESSION. Attacks not committed by RUSSIANAGGRESSION are doubleplusunpossible and doubleplusunthink. The Empire says it, I believe it, that settles it.

A nice 'private spelling' by a Spokane-News
We also have this mom boxer looking dog wondering around the construction workers all morning, I've been trying to catch her, but she's skidding, white patch on her nose. No collar or tags.
Makes sense. Skittish
doesn't correspond to any current verb or noun. A dog in that mood is skidding away from you when you approach. Wondering
also makes sense in context.
Has anyone seen a Monte Carlo? Beautiful silver color. Nice wheels, I don't know the year. Person driving iradically, 30s bald, stocky build.

You are invited to participate in a community visioning open house to help shape urban designs at the confluence of innovation, discovery, entrepreneurship, scholarship and neighborhood engagement.
Professor Polistra finds nothing wronging with verbing nounings, but this verbing makings no sensing and addings no meaninging. The rest of the sentence is equally empty buzzwordings, so can't judge anything by contexting.

Nearly universal replacement for uncharted.
No linguistic reason for this, just elite comfort zone. Elites can't and won't read charts, and won't allow TROLL to use charts, but they fly without charge on chartered jets every day.

I like to keep track of the other Little Houses in the area. Misplaced sense of kinship or something.
Two of the Little Houses are vacated and renovated this month.
One is no surprise: It's a rental, and it had seemed
vacant for years while actually occupied. Lights and mail indicated human presence, but I'd never seen people entering or leaving or smoking outside (trademark of a rental), and the grass was always two feet high.
The other is a true surprise. The owner was a SERIOUS gardener. He maintained everything carefully, added a greenhouse on the back of the house, and kept the back yard full of tall healthy beans and tomatoes. This year's crop looks good. Puzzle! A real gardener doesn't abandon his garden in August just to find a bigger or nicer house. Looked up obits; no indication of death. Maybe he had a heart attack or stroke?

Irrelevant seasonal note
Safe to say that summer is done now. This summer was BLESSEDLY cooler than normal, and BEATIFICALLY cooler than last summer.
A personal measurement, not quite in the same class as cricket chirps: This summer I only had to use short-sleeved shirts for morning walks THREE times. All other mornings (near sunrise) were easily cool enough for long flannel shirts. Coat was needed through the end of April, and last week already hit coatness once.
Last summer was short sleeves all the way.
When I resumed coat, it fit better than it had in April. Started trying to lose weight about a year ago after realizing I'd gained 25 pounds over 5 years. Before this surgery thing, I was down about 6 pounds from the peak, using the simplest diet plan. Eat less. No second breakfast, no bread. The surgery thing seems to have taken another 3 or 4, probably from constant stress and tension. In one year, almost half of the 5-year gain is off. That's a meaningful turnaround. Encourages me to continue. The weight before the +25 started is probably a good enough goal. (In non-delta terms: Started at 180, got up to 205, now back to 192, trying to return to 180.)

Gutsy but complicated
A bishop in Mexico is in legal trouble for being a Christian.
Bishop Ramón Castro has been informed that he’s being investigated in response to a complaint by the socialist governor of the state of Morelos, Graco Ramírez, for speaking out against the creation of homosexual “marriage,” which was recently passed by the state legislature and signed into law by Ramírez. He is accused of “homophobia,” according to Mexican news outlets.
“If I go to prison, no problem, I’ll do the work of evangelization there,” the bishop told his flock during a sermon at the cathedral in mid-August, and added that he wished to “thank the Bar Association of Cuernavaca, which has shown solidarity by coming to my defense.”
Now there's a plain and simple New Testament Christian attitude. No Roman sophistication. Prison? Fine. Just a better chance to spread the word.
Sorosian Graco Ramirez
really needs to think about this. He is not serving his own cause. SorosSatan is working to weaponize
both prisoners and homosexuals, turning them into missiles guided by SorosSatan. Ordinary prisoners are extremely heterosexual. A powerful evangelist who helps them to turn their NORMAL sexuality toward Christian purposes will give those prisoners a protective immunity against the Sorovirus.
If the Sorosians are smart, they'll back away from this counterproductive move.

A complete series
of 'Secret Agent K-7' recently arrived in Archive.org. The show, from the late '30s, is above the norm for a low-budget syndicated 15-minute radio series. Characters are necessarily shallow but constantly plausible. They do and say things that real people say and do. Technology is also shallow but accurate. Guns and radio direction-finders and Thermite are described and used properly. There are no impossible secret weapons.
The show pulled me in with two superficial details: One of the female agents is named Rita, and there's a lot of Morse.
After those surface items sucked me in, I realized that K-7 has one MAJOR shining virtue that separates it from all other spy stories. It's written from a NON-BELLIGERENT
viewpoint. The stories, summarized by the narrator's brief sermon at the end of each episode, are designed to PRESERVE PEACE, not to DESTROY THE WORLD.
What do I mean by non-belligerent? A few of those little sermons:
(1) It is a known fact that in these times telephone lines are routinely tapped. Those who rule by force and intrigue have many secrets to guard, from their own people and from the world.
Precisely correct and stated generically. You can apply this to any country. Contrast with the modern USA STRONG narrative of tapping and hacking. We do not tap because we are Exceptional. All tapping and hacking is caused by RUSSIANAGGRESSION. We need to DESTROY RUSSIANAGGRESSION because RUSSIANAGGRESSION must be destroyed.
(2) The bombing of cities far behind the actual lines of battle will be the most horrible part of the next war, for innocent women and children will be the victims.
Again note the generality. This turned out to be a precisely true prediction, and the Allies did most of the civilian bombing. And the show's writers were also correct in predicting that Thermite incendiary bombs would be the decisive factor. The A-bomb didn't really do anything more than Thermite, and the A-bomb was NOT what drove Japan to surrender. Our actions
in early 1945 indicated that we KNEW Japan would be done in July or August. How did we know? Because the entry of Russia
had been SCHEDULED two years in advance. The Russian second front was the final persuader, and we knew it.
(3) The fact that food rearmament programs are equal in importance to military and naval programs may be surprising. Men and munitions are important, but without food, war cannot be waged. Nations have been starved out before, and it will happen again.
A rare focus on DEFENSIBLE SPACES and SELF-SUFFICIENCY. Contrast with the USA STRONG approach. We are fanatically busy DESTROYING our own reserves of food, petroleum, water, helium, productive industries, skills, and money. Bush The Son made it lethally clear that he wanted to run these wars purely on debt and dependence. No defense bonds sold to Americans, no expansion of defense industries that would give jobs to Americans, no stockpiling of food or anything else. Continue bombing our own dams to "save" the nine-toed grinklesnarb, continue bombing our own police to "save" the vulnerable gangsters. We must get all of our oil from Saudi and give all of our jobs to China while borrowing all of our money from China. Total vulnerability, total dependence. We must be fully starve-able and fully disarmed in every possible way, physical and emotional and mental.
(4) The smuggling of undesirable aliens has always been a problem for the great nations of the world. Today it has assumed major importance, since the undesirables who enter a country are often spies and saboteurs.
Well, we all know that Dreamers are NEVER undesirable. Only natives are Deplorable and Undesirable. Dreamers are physically incapable of committing terrorism or spying or sabotage because they are Dreamers.
This one was in the dialog, not the 'sermon'. K-7 is brought in by an old friend who runs a factory that builds engine parts. He is nearing bankruptcy because his production is being sabotaged, probably by foreign moles among his employees, and he can't find the problem. He asks K-7 for help, and K-7 replies: "Your country is not engaged in war. Neither is the country buying your airplane parts. Both countries believe in peace. For that reason, as well as for the welfare of your workers, I will help you."
There's a concise and complete statement of Populism. Don't make war, improve the welfare of your OWN workers.
This was a COMMON attitude in 1938** America. Now it's forbidden.
= = = = =
Each of these little sermons would be
today. Literally unsayable, because the secrets must be guarded from our own people at all costs.
** Update: Actual program listings
show K-7 on the air in 1940. Only a few stations carried it, including KHQ in Spokane. I don't find any references from earlier years. This makes the non-interventionism even more salient.

Sort of semi-personal.... News
states that former mayor Mary Verner, who moved to Seattle after losing office here, was seriously injured in a bicycle crash. Her medical expenses are apparently not covered, so her friends set up a GoFundMe thing here.
(This wasn't linked in the news items.)
I said some harsh things about Verner in the first year of her mayor term, then came to realize that she was NOT evil, just overwhelmed. A loyal political servant who got in over her head. She did some good things as mayor, trying to serve the poor more than the rich. Unlike Copkiller Condon, she DEFENDED a cop when he got in trouble.
So I tossed a little money in the well as a form of apology for the harsh words.
TRANS FUCKING PARENCY
Imperial media are vomiting again about Trump and "Birthers". BBC states flatly and falsely (as always) that Trump FOUNDED the Birther thing. In fact Trump casually jumped onto the wagon long after it started moving.
There's no conspiracy theory here. It's quite fucking simple. All Federal employees are required to show firm proof of their citizenship status. The necessary status varies by job, but you have to prove that you're a citizen or an H1B visa or whatever. President shouldn't be any different.
Obama's biography is complex and dubious, with a foreign father and a world-traveling CIA/Commie mother. His citizenship status was NOT obvious or tautological. Dubious statements require MORE proof than observably true statements.
Obama REFUSED to show documentation. Birthers wanted Obama to be treated the same way as all other Federal employees. Finally after months of pressure, and AFTER getting the job without showing any papers, he came up with some kind of documentation.
This is simply a matter of TRANSPARENCY. Transparency means SHOW YOUR WORK. If you claim that CO2 causes "climate disruption", SHOW YOUR WORK. If you claim that we need to bring wolves and grizzlies into the city, SHOW YOUR WORK. If you claim that ZIRP "grows the economy", SHOW YOUR WORK. If you claim that outsourcing "lifts all boats", SHOW YOUR WORK. If you claim that we are living in somebody else's video game, SHOW YOUR WORK. If you claim to be qualified for a Federal job, SHOW YOUR WORK. If you claim to be collapsing and seizing because of "pneumonia", SHOW YOUR WORK. All of these claims are DEMONSTRABLY FALSE. If you take the trouble to SHOW YOUR WORK, to OBSERVE REALITY AND USE LOGIC, you can disprove them all in a minute.
None of the elites ever SHOW THEIR WORK. They always yammer about transparency, but it's always the Deplorables who have to show documentation and proof, and our documentation and proof is NEVER ENOUGH. Aristocrats get all the money and all the power and all the "truth" by divine right.
I hadn't thought about Manweller's Law
in quite a while, but suddenly realized....
Manweller says that democracy is a luxury, an outgrowth of a stable and secure setup. When things are going well enough for the elites, they can put up "candidates" who agree on all the essentials. "Elections" help to maintain legitimacy and keep the peasants calm.
When there are SERIOUS differences of purpose among major factions, elections stop and AK47s emerge.
This is the first time since 1932** that we have a MODERATELY serious difference of purpose among major factions. So it's not surprising that the Deepstate is attempting to cancel the election. Deepstate already canceled Bernie. Many local and state elections and referenda have been deleted by court decisions or by arresting an uppity Repooflican.
(Those deleted local elections probably matter more than the national in the long run.)
Now Deepstate is trying everything short
of AK47s to cancel Trump. If everything short fails ...
= = = = =
** In '32 Hoover was an enthusiastic globalist and FDR was a reluctant localist. After the election the differences continued to get worse, with three BIG movements pulling toward even more localism and openly heading for revolution. FDR listened to the people and responded heroically, disarming the globalist elites and rebuilding local farms and industries. Result: Factions faded out. Nation was saved.
Minor point, but I haven't heard it said.....
It's highly unlikely that Russia, or ANY remote nation, could have done the DNC hack. DNC, like all major organizations, buys its web and cloud services from one of the giant providers. These giant providers are thoroughly protected from hacking through the net. A mass-quantity hack containing a specific segment of dates
nearly always comes from an insider with physical access to the servers. A disgruntled 'whistleblower'.
We can also be sure that lots of hackers are TRYING to penetrate the Trump organization. 100% of hackers in the US are leftists. (And there's a big bounty
Why haven't they succeeded?
Unavoidable answer: Trump's organization has better data security. It must be doing a better job of selecting and paying its IT guys, and a better job of monitoring the external cloud services.
Totally aside from all matters of ideology and policy, which is the better leader in today's world? The leader who can't control internal leaks, or the one who can?
= = = = =
Related: There's no obvious Russian advantage in hacking DNC, because Obama (after firing Hillary in 2012) is behaving rationally toward Russia. Kerry has been cooperating with Russia to unravel Hillary's genocides. Russian interest in stopping Hillary is clear, and in fact HUMANITY'S interest in stopping Hillary is clear. No candidate in recent memory has such a wildly murderous and omnicidal record. She starts new wars every week. But the DNC hacks were not specifically about Hillary.
In contrast, the new hacking of international athletic corruption clearly and directly serves Russia's interests. It makes sense to assume Russian involvement.
This leak also shows yet another way that "privacy" laws create crime.
American athletes have been using a GOVERNMENT-AUTHORIZED medical trick to take drugs "legally", which was covered up by "privacy" laws because it was "medical". Our criticism of Russia's GOVERNMENT-AUTHORIZED doping is thus totally cynical. There's no difference. All organized sports are pure criminal syndicates. All organized sports should be abolished.
Here's a first draft of Polistra's new Mill. The original was found
in a 1910 Inland Printer journal, and the scene was so stunningly beautiful that Polistra wanted me to 'build' it for a printshop. The project is keeping my mind nicely occupied during recovery from surgery.
My digital version is WAY too neat and clean, which is sort of unavoidable in digital graphics. I'll try to roughen and mossy it up some, but not too much. I couldn't resist making the building a little more symmetrical and usable in terms of light and space. It's also difficult to get a lot of trees into a digital scene. Digital trees, like real-life trees, are extravagantly wasteful. The tree on the left takes 3 times as much memory as everything else in the scene! You can substitute a backdrop picture, but the result is usually unsatisfying.
has already gone beyond 'pneumonia'. Hillary's problem is that she is unwilling to take sick days, and America's unwillingness to take sick days is caused by Republicans.
So her seizures and collapses are not pneumonia but Republicans.
