Neighborhood note
I like to keep track of the other Little Houses in the area. Misplaced sense of kinship or something.
Two of the Little Houses are vacated and renovated this month.
One is no surprise: It's a rental, and it had
seemed vacant for years while actually occupied. Lights and mail indicated human presence, but I'd never seen people entering or leaving or smoking outside (trademark of a rental), and the grass was always two feet high.
The other is a true surprise. The owner was a SERIOUS gardener. He maintained everything carefully, added a greenhouse on the back of the house, and kept the back yard full of tall healthy beans and tomatoes. This year's crop looks good. Puzzle! A real gardener doesn't abandon his garden in August just to find a bigger or nicer house. Looked up obits; no indication of death. Maybe he had a heart attack or stroke?
