  Increasing grasp of Parkinson

Sometimes I feel alone in maintaining reality.

The commenters on this video give me encouragement. Saagar and Krystal are missing the point. They say that the NGO was supposed to be serving the homeless, and they're outraged that the executive of the NGO is taking all the money.

A thousand commenters get it right, and express the reality clearly and articulately.

Parkinson.

We run unending Wars On X, SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to UNSOLVE the problem, and SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to give money and power to the executives. The money is NOT supposed to go to the homeless. The money is NOT supposed to solve problems. The money is supposed to enrich the executives. Period.

Everyone knows the truth. Nobody believes the official line.

Even among the 'alternative' types, paid speakers intentionally miss the basic nature of bureaucracy and evil. Most of them start from the idiotic assumptions that people are identical and "democracy" and "checks and balances" exist. When an event proves reality, the paid speakers blame the other party or the other ideology.

The unpaid commenters understand reality better. Because we're unpaid, we're able to see the truth.

  More on timelines and rentalizing

Following on this item about timelines in tech.

The overall pattern, true for everything from land to telephones, has three steps:

1. Feudal relationships came first. A two-way loyalty between the seller and customer, or landlord and tenant. The land or product was in the hands of the customer but owned by the landlord. Rental created a lifetime connection, with personal OBLIGATIONS on both sides.

2. The myth of private property came along with the myths of "natural rights" and meritocracy. These myths served to DECOUPLE the aristocrat from the peasant. After paying interest for 20 or 30 years, the peasant "owned" the land or car or computer. He was then free to sell the item for much less than he had paid in interest. The landlords no longer had any obligations to keep the peasants alive, no obligation to take care of the property, and no obligation to employ local peasants. They could ship the work offshore and ignore all service calls. (See 'let the fires burn'.)

3. After deleting the two-way obligations, we've returned to renting with a one-way obligation. Now the landlord has total control of your land or computer, and has no need to take care of it or insure that you can even use it. The landlord has no vested interest in your survival or purchasing power or employability or skills.

I've been modeling IBM's 1957 RAMAC accounting system, a landmark in disk tech and a landmark in service. Previously IBM had made a wide range of individual machines for business, including timeclocks and intercoms as well as computers. RAMAC was a set of computing equipment plus software designed to work together for one purpose.

The timeline shows up starkly when comparing IBM 1957 (real feudal) versus Microsoft 2021 (neo-feudal).

IBM rented about 1000 of the RAMAC systems. Not a high quantity. The most basic system rented for $3200 a month, equivalent to $25k now. Extra equipment and extra usage charges brought some rentals up to $12k a month, about $100k now.

The expense meant that only middle-to-large companies could afford them. What the companies got for their rental was a full range of close-coupled services. IBM wrote a series of books showing how the RAMAC accounting system could be used and programmed by different types of business, and provided programming services as well as repair services. IBM was committed to HELPING the businesses thrive, so the customers could continue paying the high rental. Profit maintained the relationship.

Now Microsoft rents Windows 11 for "zero" dollars, and provides NEGATIVE service. Constant updates and spying ("telemetry") keep your computer tied up so you CAN'T do your own work properly. Constant Github updates to every piece of software keep you jumping, always behind the curve, always catching up with the latest change that invalidates all of your previous work. Memory and storage and amortizing are impossible. The "free" cost removes the profit feedback loop. MS doesn't need customers, and doesn't try to help them prosper.

  Starting to grasp reality?

It's slightly encouraging when establishment Repooflicans show a glimmer of common sense, a vague grasp of reality.

The Federalist is solid establishment. ZERO TAX is the only thing that matters. Their ZERO TAX crusade gave us Bezos and Zuckerberg. They constantly focus on "laws" and "constitutions" and "civics" and "meritocracy", the myths that open the door for demons.

Two points have been clear for a while, and came into SHARP relief in 2020. (1) Personality matters infinitely more than "laws" and "elections" and ideologies. (2) When you have faith in nonsensical theories, you are poisoned by hope.

In this article they show a vague incipient awareness of the two points.
Unfortunately, anyone who dares take on the broken and corrupt political and media complex is teed up for absolute destruction. As lesser men cower in the face of the risk, the cost of standing up to the system becomes steeper and steeper. While you will not be locked up for saying the truth, yet, you will be demonized, stigmatized, deplatformed. You may lose your job.
...
We must also guard against mindless hopefulness. Hope is a virtue, but it can be a bit of a vice if it’s an unwarranted faith that everything will work out in this world or for this country.
They're starting to grasp Medieval Mode. GUTS is the only thing that counts, but GUTS must be applied sneakily and cautiously. Don't waste time on the fake solutions provided by the fake system.

Survival comes first. Protest accomplishes exactly nothing. Martyrdom accomplishes exactly nothing. Your imprisonment and death will be ignored. You'll just be dead.

Reprint from a few months ago:

= = = = = START REPRINT:

Meritocracy is part of the underlying structure that made the current tyranny possible. Cultures based on fate and luck have been less susceptible to the Share Value tech tyranny, and now less susceptible to the "medical" version.

When you believe that success depends entirely on what you do, tyrants can make you guilty for not "doing as you're told". When you understand that success is mostly due to permanent caste, and when you understand that health is mostly due to the permanent qualities of your immune system, this type of guilt doesn't work.

African and Oriental and Slavic countries are more fate-based. They understand the primacy of luck. They haven't taken part in the skill destruction of recent decades, and now are less harsh with lockdowns. Cultures with permanent stable castes and niches are HAPPY and CALM cultures.

Meritocracy plus Darwin makes eugenics possible. The super-rich are good. Poor people have chosen to be poor, so they deserve to be punished for their crime. Culled from the herd.

Meritocracy in the hands of Deepstate intentionally stirs up both sides. Rich and popular people are encouraged to believe that they got there entirely by effort, so their advantage is deserved. Unlucky people are encouraged to believe that they CAN become rich and popular, so they waste their lives in upward-striving failure instead of finding satisfaction in an appropriate niche.

The inevitable and INTENDED result of this failed striving is revolution, which is the quickest way to self-cull. Revenge can't possibly work when the state holds all the cards and all the communication channels. Revenge and justice in fictional form are cathartic. Leave it there.

Don't fall for the pressure. Get into medieval mode. Try to keep the monsters calm. Bored monsters eventually move on to something more interesting.

There's very little support for the medieval mode, and no empathy for the unlucky in modern media. So it's especially hard to stay in this mode, but it's the best way to preserve what little remains of civilization until the monsters get tired of burning us and start burning each other.

  Mecher and risk

Lewis's hagiography of Savior God Supreme Angelic Lord Carter Mecher only answers part of the important historical questions, but has some useful insights about personality.

The unique power of PERSONALITY became lethally clear in 2020. I was already well aware that status and popularity and good and evil are innate, but I still had some illusions that systems and structures could constrain personality. 2020 proved that innate personal power is ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. No system intervened to stop the holocausters. No system prevented the rare GUTSY opponents from opposing. It was ALL about innate character.

As told by Lewis, Mecher's rise to power was classic psychopath. He was BORED STIFF in environments without extreme danger and extreme risk. He found his calling as an emergency room doctor. Soon he got bored with single emergencies and wanted to be around #Whole-of-society emergencies. He found his calling as Bioterror Commander, creating fake worldwide risks and exerting personal power to kill everyone and eliminate the fake risk.

The ultimate psychopath job within the medical realm.

= = = = =

I'm thinking back to the '70s and '80s when I was involved in hippie-type causes and projects, and more generally involved with people.

I figured out the innateness of status a long time ago. I hadn't connected it with risk until the Lewis book bridged the gap.

Low-status people are low-risk people. High-status people are high-risk people.

Highs are constantly taking risks and inviting Lows to go along. Lows, if they know their own limits, refuse to go along. Highs then mock Lows as cowards.

The correlation is clear, but the causation isn't. I think it's partly learned. When I was younger I did sometimes take 'heroic' risks to help others. The result was drably predictable: Lectures and punishment. I stopped taking risks and stopped trying to help.

At the same time I saw the Highs doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING IN THE SAME SITUATION and getting rewarded and admired instead of punished and lectured.

This is somewhat parallel to the Cinderella prank. Highs write myths that convince Lows to attempt the risk of romance, knowing full well that the Low will be shunned and punished for his attempt. The High can then move in and do EXACTLY THE SAME THING, gaining even more respect and sex by comparison with the miserable intolerable SAME ACTION by the Low.

  Who's imaginative?

The reluctant rehab of Neanderthals continues.

A bone with angular markings was found at a site in Germany. The archeologists grudgingly admit:
The parallel and regularly spaced engravings have comparable dimensions and were very probably created in a uniform approach suggesting an intentional act.
Looks more like a map than an artwork. A stylized representation of rivers and valleys. (Meanders and thals.) Or it could be a family tree. Or an ideogram. Many alphabets, from Korea to Ireland, look like this. Or a cipher. Or a coin with a specified value.

Given the size, I'd guess it was a family medal, to be worn on a leather thong. Something like a coat of arms.

Come on, archeologists! Show half as much imagination as the Neanderthals!

More broadly... Most archeological assumptions miss PURPOSE. They see everything as art or decoration. Decoration is luxury. Carving is hard work. Patterns denote PURPOSE. Language, signaling status, transfer of value.

  Bite-size wisdom

Lately I've been including episodes of 'Calling All Detectives' in my bedtime playlist. This was a SHORT and LOW-BUDGET 1948 series. Each episode was just 8 minutes. There was a pause after the first 2, where the station would insert ads.

I think** the stations were also given a question about a detail in the plot, to be asked during the pause. Then the stations could run a contest for best guess afterward, filling out the standard 15 minute slot. This interactive material isn't contained in the clips as recorded on archive.org, but it's implied in each episode.

No music, exactly three sound effects (car accelerating, footsteps, paper rustling) and one actor reading all the parts. Female characters were silent.

Despite the extreme cheapness, the writers were excellent. They packed a full story into 8 minutes, with character development, plot, and moral. Each episode feels like a half hour.

In this episode, the detective is called simultaneously by two high-dollar stamp collectors who are accusing each other of theft. He uses constants and variables expertly, determining that a crooked stamp dealer is playing these two against each other to manipulate prices.

At the end the narrator says:

When two clients accuse each other, always look for the hand of a third party.

Excellent advice. We won't hear this moral today, because the entire world is based on Symmetrical Scapegoating.

Nevertheless, the rule is universal. When you're supposed to argue about a specific question, you know the REAL question is elsewhere. Deepstate uses this trick in every possible subject.

= = = = =

** Footnote on quiz:

I'm convinced that I read about this interactive quiz somewhere, but now I can't find it in online descriptions of the program. The narrator does mention it at the end of each episode.

= = = = =

Later after more listening:

This episode was recorded off the air at WGN, not from the transcription disk. It includes the quiz question and answer, plus a bonus question not related to the program. (What was SS Van Dine's real name?) Prize for the bonus question was $180, about a month's basic wages.

And this one includes a remarkable 'extended conceit'. The case deals with a poet who forced his heirs to speak in rhyme until they figured out the location of the fortune. The executor of the estate was recording them day and night with a wire recorder, so they couldn't break the terms; and the detective had to speak in rhyme as well.

  Equality is genocide

Sharyl Attkisson, a former "journalist" who quit and became a journalist, is reviewing a story she did four years ago on the CDC. The story was about the measles vaccine and autism, so it's not directly relevant to this year's holocaust. In other words, it's more of a metastory than a story. Still, it shows how CDC handles "controversial" findings.

Key point:
Dr. Andrew Zimmerman, the world-renowned, pro-vaccine pediatric neurologist specializing in autism says that, as an expert witness for the government defending vaccines in vaccine court in 2007, he told the government that vaccines can cause autism in "exceptional" cases, after all. But he says the government covered up his finding, fired him as an expert witness, and misrepresented his opinion in court. The Department of Justice also secretly settled a major vaccine-autism court case that Zimmerman had consulted on-- the government admitting liability but making sure the records were sealed-- while telling other parents of vaccine-injured children that links to autism were debunked conspiracy theories.
Standard Deepstate technique, given in full detail. Know the truth, hide the truth, memoryhole all records of the truth, insult and destroy anyone who continues to speak the truth.

Why was this particular finding so "controversial"? Not because the CDC wanted to defend all vaccines. From a later statement by William Thompson, who came to regret the decision and apologized for it:
All the authors and I met and decided sometime between August and September 2002 not to report any race effects for the paper. Sometime soon after the meeting, where we decided to exclude reporting any race effects, the coauthors scheduled a meeting to destroy documents related to the study.

The remaining four coauthors all met and brought a big garbage can into the meeting room and reviewed and went through all the hard copy documents that we had thought should discard and put them in a huge garbage can.

However, because I assumed it was illegal and would violate both FOIA and DOJ requests, I kept hard copies of all documents in my office, and I retained all associated computer files.
Two words: RACE EFFECTS.

Here we get into familiar territory. I've seen the same thing in a less dramatic and less important situation. A study of hearing ability in infants was funded in an attempt to show the ill effects of mothers using cocaine. The study found RACE EFFECTS. Black and Hispanic infants were much more affected than white infants. The study was discarded.

Both cases are similar, and the damaging effect of withholding truth is similar.

If the truth had been published, doctors and others would have seen that these drugs (vaccines, cocaine) had worse effects on black youngsters. Doctors and others could then make therapy decisions or legal decisions that were MORE APPROPRIATE and MORE CUSTOM-TAILORED to situations. They could have paid less attention to whites because whites were LESS SUSCEPTIBLE to these drugs, and more attention to the more susceptible populations.

The old "rights" myth of equality is a killer. When you don't acknowledge that GENES EXIST, you make bad decisions that end up HARMING EXACTLY THE PEOPLE YOU ARE PRETENDING TO HELP.

  Framing

Random convective thought.

I was pondering yet again the total lack of apologies and real revelations. Asked a broader question: When was the last time a politician or CEO apologized for ANYTHING?

The answer is obvious. Rulers apologize all the time, but they NEVER apologize for their own crimes. They apologize for shit that happened hundreds of years ago, done by people who couldn't possibly be under the control of the ruler.

Apologizing on behalf of someone else makes sense when the someone else is your employee, under your control. In that case the proper action is to apologize for the subordinate, apologize more strongly for your own control of the subordinate, then resign.

When the someone else isn't your subordinate, on-behalf apologies are FRAMEUPS, not APOLOGIES. When a CEO apologizes for slavery, he is FRAMING and BLAMING people who lived a long time ago, who were OBEYING LAW AND MORALITY at the time.

Agrarian slavery was normal for thousands of years, and in fact it was BETTER for the workers than Yankee sweatshop slavery. The agrarian owner had to take care of his employees for life, while the Yankee owner can discard an employee whenever he wants.

So the ex post facto apology is a FALSE ACCUSATION and a FRAMEUP.

  More Persuasion poke-throughs

This time the Persuasion Substack is trying to find a non-polarized center ground for discussion in politics. They manage to be objective for a while:
At this level of conflict, emotion is driving the train. I admit to that myself. I remember, early on in Trump’s tenure, he did something—I can’t remember what it was, something about China. I remember having this sudden thought that, actually, that was not a bad idea—but not even wanting to have the thought in my head, let alone verbalize it. Then I realized I felt like if I gave him an inch, he’d take a mile—as if we were in a relationship. It’s a trick of the brain, as if he and I were in conversation, which we’re not.

So, it’s a fear. It’s a lack of trust. It’s easier, in a way, to keep things binary: bad, good. There’s really cool research that haunts me to this day by Robb Willer and Matthew Feinberg, where they asked liberals and conservatives if they would reframe an argument for something in words that would get the other side behind it. Interestingly, they found that 20% of liberals would not reframe their arguments to persuade conservatives, even if it would work better to get what they want. That’s high conflict: when any concession, no matter how small, feels too threatening to contemplate, even when it would be in their interest.
Yup. I remember how that feels. When I was solidly "liberal", I didn't want my holy words and thoughts to be desecrated by entering the Nazi ears of Fascists.

Post-1968 leftists are RELIGIOUS, not political.

Despite Persuasion's alleged intentions, their own religion pokes through as usual:
This is exactly how we get trapped, isn’t it? Because we don't get curious anymore. Journalists are captured by the high conflict. We’re not different. We’re human. I think there’s this magical thinking that we think we’re not. We think, “Oh, we're just dispassionately covering the issues.” That’s just not the case, as we see over and over again. If Trump wins the next election, or some version of Trump wins who’s more dangerous, everyone will say, “How could this happen?!”
Note the flat assertion, riding through on the wave without being seen.

They wish, or pretend to wish, for a ground connection, a standard measure, a readily available source of unbiased information. They don't go beyond wishing, don't try to imagine how such a source would work.

Is independence possible? Yes, but independence requires independence. Independent thought requires independence from money and lawyers and licensing.

I can't think of any examples at all in the political realm, but I know of one perfect example in economics. Wolf Richter remains carefully neutral between the bulls and bears, longs and shorts, scams and counterscams. He stands back and watches all of them with the same jaundiced glare. He sticks FIRMLY to actual data, and makes the best graphs in the world to COMMUNICATE the actual data.

Wolf is a one-man shop. He works loosely with a few correspondents in other countries, sharing the wealth and sharing the pulpit. He doesn't need a lot of licenses and Die-Versity Compliance and Enviro Compliance.

In current conditions, large media can't possibly achieve Wolf's level of independence. Large operations require large staffs and licensing and lawyers. You can't get money and licenses and lawyers unless you conform to Deepstate. You have to take the script that Deepstate writes, and read either the R character or the D character. There's no narrator in Deepstate's satanic stagecraft.

Well, is there any way to have national well-financed media that sticks to facts? Hell Yes. Two little words.

FAIRNESS DOCTRINE.

From 1934 to 1970 the FCC rigidly enforced the FD and it WORKED. Don't take my word for it. Listen to radio news from the '30s and '40s. You won't be able to use the Seven-Second Rule because it didn't apply then. You couldn't tell immediately which side the announcer was on. The announcers were human, so they undoubtedly had sides; but the writers and editors were CONSTRAINED BY LAW to stick to the data, just as Wolf does with economics.

  Reprint on Don't Be There

Reprinting this item from 2018 to maintain my own resolve.

= = = = = START REPRINT:

Puppet show. APs versus APs. Both dangling from Deepstate strings. One set is called "Patriot Prayer Puppets", other side is called "Antifa Puppets".

The script says Antifa wins, so Antifa wins.

The lower-level participants are unaware of the scripting. They believe they're "moving the world" or some such shit. The only thing they're doing is strengthening Deepstate. Deepstate uses CONFLICT to justify more spying, more tyranny, more extermination. Parkinson, Parkinson, Parkinson. PAY ATTENTION.

At this moment the Antifa participants are accidentally more honest, since they are OPENLY defending CIA, NSA, Goldman, and Military. They doublethink that they are "resisting" something or other by openly supporting CIA, NSA, Goldman, and Military. Perhaps one or two of them will realize the doubleness and give up, but I doubt it.

If you want to "change the world", there's absolutely no ACTIVE way to do it. The best you can do is AVOID strengthening Deepstate. All you can do is STAY THE FUCK AWAY from these atrocious fake puppet shows. Don't invite "controversial" speakers, don't join protests, don't join movements. Speak the truth when possible, do your duty.

= = = = = END REPRINT.

Survive. Be medieval. Be useful.

  Rational vs irrational prejudice

Spoiler: I'm going to strip off the rational/irrational, but need to start with it.

In 1933 the surviving automakers were desperately working in two directions.

1. The 20s were a time of easy money and no effort. When you can sell more every year without improving the product, you don't improve the product. 1920 cars and 1930 cars were precisely identical. In 1931 the rubber check of Share Value hit the road and bounced. All manufacturers had to start improving FAST.

2. When you can sell more every year, you don't put effort into salesmanship. When the rubber bounced, manufacturers had to focus hard on advertising and publicity, and they had to do it efficiently and effectively, without any waste.

Studebaker was doing both. In '34 it introduced the beautiful and practical Land Cruiser, the first sedan with a usable trunk, and the best use of streamlining. Chrysler's Airflow, far more expensive to develop, made streamlining look horrible, and didn't use the newly created rear space.

Studie was also trying sales and promotion gimmicks. After strong success in many small-scale races, they decided to push their home-state advantage by entering a car in the Indy 500. They also sold custom-made racing engines to other teams that wanted to build their own car with a Studie engine.

The factory team was made up of employees with a passion for racing. They hired Luther Johnson, an experienced champion driver, to head the team.

Here's where the irrational prejudice comes in. Before the race, one of the mechanics let his car-loving girlfriend sit in the race car for a while to share the experience. This was normal and courteous. In real life as opposed to NYC life, men and women share experiences and divide labor naturally.

Whoops! Luther Johnson had an old nautical-style** prejudice that girl cooties jinxed a vehicle. He refused to drive the cootie-infected car, and Studie had to let one of the inexperienced mechanics drive. They lost.

= = = = =

There are two opposite types of IRRATIONAL prejudice. Luther Johnson's cootie is one type, familiar and always named as such. Luther assumed that girls had a special quality or property which doesn't exist in real life, and his ANTIREALISTIC assumption lost the race.

The other type of irrational prejudice is the universal and lethally false assumption that everyone has exactly the SAME qualities and properties, which means that all teams and schools and organizations must consist of the various types in exact proportion to population. The racing team must be 51% female, 12% black, 1% Oriental, 3% homosexual, and so on ad infinitum, even if the forced conscripts have no talent or interest in racing.

RATIONAL prejudice isn't prejudice at all. If you let people accomplish a task without any ANTIREALISTIC THEORIES, they will balance out the assignments, find the best division of labor for the talents in the actual team, and GET SHIT DONE.

What's the ultimate purpose of life? GETTING SHIT DONE. If you want to GET SHIT DONE, whether it's winning the Indy or designing software or cleaning the house or just plain LIVING, you need to abandon both styles of ANTIREALISTIC ASSUMPTIONS and let people balance things on their own. The result will almost always be "discriminatory" by the genocidal standards of "human" "rights", but it will improve life for everyone.

= = = = =

Footnote 1: I've previously described a parallel and simultaneous irrational prejudice at GM, who did a better job of solving their problem.

Footnote 2: The original nautical prejudice makes sense, for the same reason as the equivalent military prejudice. A crew of hardass men trying to get along for several months in a small space are going to have fights. Add one or two women to the mix, and the fights will be uncontrollable. Luther's version doesn't make sense. He wasn't objecting to a woman participating in the crew, he was allergic to the mere memory of a woman touching the car.

  Strong SES

An extremely strong prediction from one of Wolf's commenters, pivoting on Wolf's latest discussion of the utterly bizarre SPACs, and ETFs betting on SPACs, and indexes betting on a basket of ETFs betting on NFTs betting on SPACs, which are nothing more than a money-laundering machine.
It’s structurally broken. On the levels of what the Roman Empire was after Constantine, etc. Not going back to Julius Caesar. Going to a new era.

That’s what we’re doing now: creating the underpinnings for a new era. Quite unsure what it’ll look like, how fast it’ll come. Stuff always changes, like the river (Heraclitus). It seems we’re wrapping up the Enlightenment rather quickly nowadays…
Rome is trite, but the rest is powerful. Wrapping up the Enlightenment is the ultimate terse description.

Every single piece of the Enlightenment, from secular Science to "rights" to "laws" to "constitutions", has been pulled out to its INTENDED goal and purpose.

Everyone can see now what the Enlightenment was MEANT TO DO. Time to wrap it up and return to a previous mode.

If I had the choice I'd nominate Sharia Law in 1200 AD, but I don't have the choice. It looks like we're returning instead to Europe in 1200 AD, with a mosaic of inbred imbecilic incestuous demonic aristocrats grinding up peasants to satisfy their sexual pleasure.

.... In other words, we're back to the exact literal situation that actually followed the fall of Rome. So Rome wasn't trite after all.

We didn't need any of this revelation. The French Revolution IMMEDIATELY showed us the full panorama of horror that was inherent in the Enlightenment, but we went ahead and applied it anyway. It took longer to unroll here.

  More rambling on copyright

Spinoff from previous item about copyright. This is just rambling, not a basic point.

The alleged American Dream has always been based on permanent private property. Libertarian and sovereign individual types bitch about property tax because they claim all property should be absolute, and property tax means you're just renting from the county.

Well, they're correct about the facts of property tax, but incorrect about the necessity of absolute permanent property.

In fact there's no such thing, and permanent holding is a bad idea.

The original copyright law was NOT permanent. It recognized that intellectual property should be temporary, and required you to officially REGISTER and RENT the material if you wanted to use it for profit. When you stopped paying the rental, the material became public domain. There was no ambiguity, no room for an arbitrary claim by an unrelated thief.

The Disney law creates a permanent "right" without any registration or rental. This means that Disney and a few other giant corporations can claim anything they want and prevent its use for as long as they want, because they have the armies of lawyers.

The old system made it possible for anyone to pay a reasonable fee and create a temporary claim which the GOVERNMENT would help you to defend, because you had PAID THE GOVERNMENT for the service of defending you. Feedback loop, pay for value.

This is closely parallel to the notion of retail vs wholesale "corruption". When petty bureaucrats are for rent, anyone with a reasonable amount of money can get service by paying. A tight feedback loop couples the payer with the servant, insuring accountability both ways.

When petty bureaucrats are supposed to be "pure", only Disney and Amazon get service, because they can exert massive economic and blackmail power over all bureaucrats in the world simultaneously.

  Copyright violates natural law

Convective counterintuitive thought:

If you want to leave a legacy, don't copyright your work.

After previous item on Aberree and astrology, I was thinking again about Alphia Hart's uniquely CONFIDENT view of copyright:

Copyrighting everything you write is a confession that you have little faith in your ability to continue producing salable stuff -- and that there may come a time when you'll have to fall back on your own, protected material to make a living. When we can't produce new copy for The ABERREE, The ABERREE ceases to exist, because we're certain no one wants to read tomorrow what we said yesterday and today.

I reached a similar conclusion a long time ago in making courseware. The restrictions of 'digital rights' get stricter and more tangled every year, but they don't bother me because I have CONFIDENCE in my own ability to produce new images and animations.

= = = = =

Despite his probably fake modesty, Hart did leave a legacy. His work is still eminently worth reading 60 years later.

BUT: If he had copyrighted his work, or even failed to EXPLICITLY turn off the copyright, his legacy would be GONE.

Thanks to recent anti-Hubbard types who found the collection and scanned and uploaded it, all of Hart's work is readable. If he hadn't made a point of turning off the copyright, those blessed preservers couldn't have done their job, and his work would be lost.

A similar situation exists in the recordings of old-time radio. The obscure syndicated shows are better preserved and more available than the big network shows. Why? Because the networks still exist, so a copyright could be enforced. This makes it possible for one of the OTR vendors to play copyright troll games, forcing the other vendors and the free service at Archive.org to delete items it wants to sell. Even though the one trollish vendor has no inheritance rights to the recordings, the potential of a copyright makes the big network shows harder to find and hear. And because they're less widely distributed, they're likely to disappear when that one trollish vendor goes out of business.

A much more important application of this principle was already operating at the time when those radio shows were made. Local stations and small syndicates and small civic orchestras were able to play live music as long as it was classical. Modern copyrighted music could only be played by networks who had enough money to pay the royalties. THEREFORE: Classical music has been performed and enjoyed and remembered much more widely than modern copyrighted music.

We have a dense and constantly performed legacy from composers who worked before copyright laws. Similarly with literature and visual art.

Not everything is great, but some work that was considered trash when written has been appreciated later because it was PRESERVED in some form. PRESERVED work can be revived and re-judged.

When the work is copyrighted, it has much less chance of being preserved and reprinted or replayed, no matter how good or mediocre it is.

Natural law and Sharia law agree: Use it or lose it. Everything in nature is meant to be useful, meant to serve. Copyright prevents use, so copyright guarantees loss.

= = = = =

Later addition: I was forgetting one specialized but important form of loss. Forgetting is peculiar because I've personally experienced this form!

When a publisher owns exclusive copyright, the publisher may go bankrupt or merge, or it may simply decide to stop selling the item. At that point there's no automatic procedure to revert the item to public domain, or to return it to the author's possession. Sometimes a revert contract is written, but big corporations don't obey laws. They can and will prevent ANYONE from using the material, even though they're not using the material either. Total and permanent loss.

  Reprint on medical / magical

I linked this 2017 piece in previous. It deserves a full reprint. I wasn't using the word entertainment yet, but I was hitting the same theme with clarity and power.

= = = = = START REPRINT:

The Enlightenment's big crime was binary truth tables.

Law of excluded middle, fact or not fact, true or false, prove or disprove, null hypothesis, guilty or not guilty, honest or fake.

Digital technology and digital training have elevated binariness to a lethal level.

For some reason thinking about Volney's beneficial hooey pushed me over the line on this question.

Nature doesn't do honesty. Every smart and surviving critter uses deception, looking or smelling or sounding or moving like something else. Honesty is death.

The dividing line CANNOT BE deception vs honesty because honesty DOES NOT EXIST.

The only meaningful measure is the PURPOSE of the deception. Aggressive or defensive? Helpful or harmful?

When a deception is aggressive or harmful, you need to break it down and observe** the underlying reality so you can defend yourself against the aggression, or at least stop HELPING the aggressor. Stings and false flags by Sorosian governments are lethal and aggressive. We need to observe basic facts. 9/11 was a Saudi + CIA operation. Both "fascists" and "anti-fascists" are organized by the government as traps. Knowing these FACTS can slow down the aggression by depriving it of active support.

When a deception is neutral or helpful, we should quietly realize it's a deception while still allowing it to function. Good medical practice, good selling, and good religion, all involve a lot of magic and placebo. When we criminalize "alternative" medicine we're not giving the magic a chance to work. Over the centuries our criminalizing of various therapies has switched back and forth wildly, often depriving entire generations of a therapy that we later "rediscover" as useful. We'd save thousands of lives if we just LOOSENED UP.

Smart and surviving cultures were never fooled by the Enlightenment nonsense. Persians and Russians and Chinese understand reality more clearly. Teutons and Anglos and French fell into the binary trap around 1790 and never climbed out. Now it's killing us.

= = = = =

** Observe the underlying reality: I'm bumping into language limitations here. Our internal representation of reality, also known as observed reality, is also disconnected from instrumental measurements. If you take the instrumental measurements as the sole standard, you'll never be able to function in the world. That's why our decisions and actions need to be based on purpose rather than "finding absolute truth". Our internal fiction has been experimentally shaped to match our survival needs, so it's the best available standard. When you see media toxin that clashes with your experiential template, you have to prefer your internal version of reality because you ALSO know from experience that the media toxin is aggressive and lethal. Media toxin, like wasp toxin, is designed to paralyze you for easier enslavement and slaughter.

= = = = =

Continued here.

= = = = = END REPRINT.

What happened in 1790? Tyrants adopted science as the God who drives and approves their wars and genocides. The adoption was explicit and sudden in France, more implicit and gradual in Britain and US. Before 1790, tyrants used church-gods as weapons. A religion used by tyrants is inevitably corrupt, always changing to suit the psychopathic rule-changing drive of the tyrant. When science was outside of this demonic circle, scientists were much more able to discuss and negotiate and experiment and explain. The real switch in US happened in 1946, when Deepstate resurged after FDR's constraints. Vannevar Bush and the NSF made science into the temple of government, and scientists into high priests and secret-keepers.

  Stop cheering for cruel jokes!

Conservatives are cheering as usual over a hoax "victory" from the Supremes. An African student at some college was passing out serious Christian pamphlets, and the college punished him. Later the college revised its rules and eliminated the punishment. Now the Supremes say that the student did have "rights" which were "violated" by the college, but they aren't doing anything to enforce those "rights".

In other words, NOTHING HAPPENED.

This is the standard and universal "victory" for unfashionable dissidents. Just a prank, not a victory. A practical joke like a squirting flower. Ha ha, gotcha again!

Once a year the Supremes "handle" cases of this type, and always grant a meaningless or obsolete or totally unusable fake "solution" that only applies to the specific plaintiff, who is often dead by the time the case reaches the Supremes. The joke always leaves the tyrannical status quo fully in place.

Checking Quora again: Gorillas, pranks.

  Possible schism

Real schisms led by powerful people can make a real difference.

I've been generally anti-Catholic for a few years, since reading the full story of the Inquisition and noticing that nothing has really changed. I don't WANT to be broadly anti-Catholic, and wish I could see a reason for optimism. There are many people inside the church who disapprove of the permanent evil. Unfortunately those good people stay inside the church, where their talents and money inevitably assist the permanent evil.

"Working for reform inside the system" is a cruel myth. You're IN or you're OUT. Gang rules. No gray areas, no middle ground, no compromise. When you're IN, you're a full participant whether you think so or not.

When a powerful leader cuts loose and gets OUT, things start to happen. Both Mohammed and Luther were Christian leaders who got tired of the permanent evil and started their own movements.

On a much smaller scale, corporate leaders like Charles Nash and Walter Chrysler got tired of Billy Durant's permanent evil and started their own companies, aiming to serve the employees and customers in a more moral and responsible way. If they had continued using their talents for GM, nothing would have changed.

Now we have Cardinal Sarah resigning from Rome, with a possibility of leading a new separate church in Africa.

For damn sure Africa is the bright future of the world. Africans have an unbreakable morality, and have been rejecting Soros-style "human rights" for a long time. This year the heroic Magufuli rejected the bribes from the "virus" holocaust and used REAL SCIENCE to disprove the fraud at the start. Many African countries have thoroughly modernized in tech and business, WITHOUT losing their deep morality and culture.

Good luck to Cardinal Sarah, and I'm hoping and praying he can lead a successful schism before he gets too old to energize it.

  Don't fall for it

Normally my bedtime 'radio' is all '30s and '40s, all empathetic. Tonight I made the mistake of placing an unfamiliar episode from the meritocratic '50s at the start, and had trouble reaching sleep. Fortunately the dream-scripter tried to undo the damage.

There's an important lesson.

  Parler Piper

I've been trying to hit this point often. Watch out for "alternative" organizations and "alternative" media. Deepstate ALWAYS runs both sides of an argument. It doesn't run every organization, but the bigger and more famous ones are likely to be agents provocateurs.

Simple logic: A movement can't become big and famous without Deepstate approval. Big media need money and lawyers and regulatory permission. If a movement or company is big enough to notice, it CAN'T BE INDEPENDENT.

When protests are planned on "both" sides, smart dissidents stay home. Don't be there. Don't follow the Pied Piper off the cliff. You won't accomplish ANYTHING except your own destruction.

Manweller's Rule is universal. Elections only count when they agree with Deepstate. "Legal" "orders" are only obeyed when they order Deepstate to do what it's already doing. Protests only change Deepstate's mind when Deepstate already intended to change in that direction. Martyrs who die for the wrong side are terrorists, not martyrs.

I tested Parler a couple months ago. Was it really better for your privacy than Twitter or Facebook? No. Parler wouldn't even let me create an account because I don't own a cellphone. This is worse than FB, which allows a sort of second-class citizenship for non-cellies.

Now RT says that Apple and Google have banned Parler from all devices, after the "opposition" "protest" "supporting" Pied Piper Trump.

Gather up the dissidents into a channel where they can be cut off by Apple and Google, then cut them off. Pied Piper.

Semi-relevant recollection: Who started this form of herding? Rush. Back in the early '90s he gave priority to callers using cellphones. He claimed that he was favoring the rich, which was obnoxious enough. The real reason is even more obnoxious.

  Starting to understand

Article in Psych Today is at least starting to understand depression, but still missing the solution.
Now, models like the Polyvagal Theory suggest that we’ve got it backward. It’s the body that detects danger and initiates a defense strategy meant to help us survive. That biological strategy is called immobilization, and it manifests in the mind and the body with a set of symptoms we call depression.

When we think of depression as irrational and unnecessary suffering, we stigmatize people and rob them of hope. But when we begin to understand that depression, at least initially, happens for a good reason we lift the shame. People with depression are courageous survivors, not damaged invalids.
Well, you don't need any theories. You just need to observe reality without preconceptions.

Depression comes from misplaced expectations. You try everything available and everything advised, and nothing achieves your expected and predicted goal.

The solution is to alter the expectation so it conforms to reality.

In modern Western "culture", ever since the Endarkenment of the 1700s but worst since 1960, genes are heresy. Everyone can be popular and successful if they TRY hard enough and use the right PRODUCTS and follow the right ADVICE.

All of the available ADVICE is based on the completely destructive lies about "rights" and "meritocracy". Genes don't exist. Everyone is identical and everyone must seek identical goals, as defined by attractive and popular and rich and powerful people.

In fact genes exist. People are different. Your innate tendencies are unique. The situation you're in may be utterly insane because DEMONIC people are in charge everywhere except Tanzania.

Aside from the current universal insanity, there have always been inescapable situations in some places. Bad parents, bad schools, bad workplaces, neighborhoods controlled by gangs.

The solution starts by aligning your expectations with HARDASS REALITY. If you're not likable now, you will never be likable. If you're not smart now, you will never be smart. If you're not rich now, you will never be rich.

You have to find ways of gaining satisfaction within the boundaries of reality. Sometimes the satisfaction is solely intrinsic, the pleasure of completing hard tasks or creating beautiful things. Sometimes you can get approval for your products and services, even though you'll never get approval for your appearance and personality. There's always a path, and it's always unique to your genes and situation.

The cited article has a healthy attitude but doesn't start to touch the solutions:
One of the symptoms of depression is shame, a sense of having let other people down or being unworthy to be with them. When people are told that depression is an aberration, we are telling them that they are not part of the tribe. They are not right, they don’t belong. That’s when their shame deepens and they avoid social connection. We have cut them off from the path that leads them out of depression.

It is time that we start honoring the courage and strength of depressed people. It is time we start valuing the incredible capacity of our biology to find a way in hard times.
Sounds good, can't happen. "Therapists" will certainly never do it, and Zuckerberg and Bezos won't let it happen in the broader range of social outputs. Seeking social contact is GUARANTEED to make things worse. It's also strictly illegal now everywhere except Tanzania.

As I've noted repeatedly, media in previous eras was more empathetic and less meritocratic, leaving more room for DIFFERENT PEOPLE. Marriage and popularity and success were not enforced as automatic and universal goals.

There's no way to get back to those empathetic attitudes.
