Saluting Oklahoma
I haven't done a Salute in a LONG time because there hasn't been much worth saluting. Too many of my previous salutes were premature: the saluted country or ruler turned out to be the usual faker and betrayer, converging to Deepstate shortly after my praise. Maybe this one will also converge, but we'll salute anyway as a form of prayer. The EXPERIMENT is still underway, and we're still seeing the dramatic difference between states with sane governors versus states with demonic governors. Daily suicides in demonic states, normal life in sane states.

According to this data map, Oklahoma and Utah are the only states that FORBID waterboarding and torture by schools. Most of the country is in 'local option' mode, which is slightly better than total requirement of waterboarding and torture. The other Dixie states tried to ban torture but got overturned by Federal black-robed demons.

According to that same website, 21% of ALL schools are ungagged, which means the 'local option' mode is working in some places. This is an encouraging number, since 'local option' is probably the easiest to maintain against the black-robed demons.

Okla was somewhat slow in gathering up its GUTS. Late in 2020, as courage gradually spread out from Florida, Okla was among the last of the Dixie states to break free. At least as of today, Okla is free and breathing, until a black-robed demon succeeds in reinstating torture for students.

Nov 10: As predicted, a black-robed demon has overturned the total ban. Returned to local option, which is probably the least horrible alternative under a permanently demonic federal dysgovernment. Utah still has a total ban, but I'm sure that won't last.

These beautiful secret chapels are miniature churches, in readiness to shelter a traditional priest when the Bergoglian management kicks him out.

I understand. I'm a long long way from Christian, but I've been equipping my unbeautiful little house with the 'externals' of my peculiar Islamicoid faith. Astrolabes, coherers, Morse transmitters. I pray twice a day in Morse, as a way of resonating with the universe's magnetic patterns. Not unlike the traditional Catholics praying in Latin. Fitting the request into an orderly structure, hoping to increase the store of order and counterbalance the demonic frenzy of chaos.

  Exponential as a counterweapon
This is BEAUTIFUL.

The article discusses a recent Moscow Arbitration Tribunal ruling ordering Google to restore Tsargrad’s YouTube account, which the censors had deleted citing the usual vague pretext of “community guidelines violation.” The best part: “The consequences are financial, and exponential. For the first week of non-compliance, Google would have to pay a little over one thousand dollars, nothing to speak about there. But afterwards, the fines double each week, and in half a year’s time Google would have to pay over $70 billion!”

Demons are exponential. Demons use exponential increase as a math weapon to scare people shitless. They tell us FALSELY that population and CO2 and viruses increase exponentially, and they create exponential predictions to run the holocaust.

Finally we have an exponential PUNISHMENT against the exponential CRIMES!

Like fighting a forest fire with a back-fire. Fighting mathfire with mathfire.

  Should be a lesson, won't
Spending way too much time on Quora lately. It's unhealthy but hard to resist, especially when I'm too weary to do serious work on courseware or graphics. Just one more cigarette, just one more little drinky...

Quora is dominated by hero-worshipping autists. They see only the top, and they believe fervently that they deserve to reach the top INSTANTLY. Nietzsche, Rand, and Seneca are the goal-setters. How do I make a billion dollars in a week? How do I create the next world-changing innovation?

Until two days ago Elon was the capo di tutti capi. Everyone wanted to be Elon, everyone wanted the privilege of kissing Elon's ring or other parts.

Suddenly the field has reversed. Now Elon is Trump.

Why? Elon said bad things about Bitcoin, which is the Holy Eucharist of the superstar autists.

The worshippers should learn a lesson from this, but they won't. Superstar status is instantly reversible. You may reach the top, but one wrong word will cancel you. This isn't new.

When you do what you're MEANT to do, whether it's coding or cooking or car-washing, your position is much less fragile and you have more real freedom.

Potential energy applies to status as well as gravity. Some people are naturally higher than others. Stretching beyond your natural height is fragile, and elasticity has a limit.

2/23: Is Tanzania slipping? I'm worried. For the very first time I'm seeing a couple of muzzles in videos. The other Tanzanians I'm following are still free, so it's hard to tell. Reading tea leaves from a distance is stupid and pointless, but a previous single exception seen in Belarus turned out to be a harbinger of total surrender to Satan.

  Renewing the medieval mode AGAIN
Bad dreams reminded me of a vow I'd made a few weeks ago during a power outage.

Even attempting to think about the monsters in charge of this mess is UNHEALTHY. Stick to medieval mode. Know that the monsters are evil and stay COMPLETELY AWAY from their evil thought processes. Don't try to guess what they're doing or why. Maintain separate mental spaces.

Just do your duty, serve godliness, and pray HARD that fate will send somewhat less evil rulers.

There are no "correct" "sides", there are only toxic topics.

Speaking of radio and 1925, here's a catalog page with some NEAT gadgets that I haven't seen before.



1. Inductors were the arthropods of pre-Cambrian radio, assuming all sorts of truly strange forms with strange names. These balloon circloids appear to be hollow-core toroids. The jewel-box for the kit of three is an especially luxurious touch.

2. The 5-tube kit using the circloids shows how each one mated with a variable condenser; but the interesting part of the kit is the chassis. It's an open frame, with a phenolic section for the tube sockets. Getting very close to later printed circuit boards. (Ebay has one of these for sale. I'm severely tempted, but I'll resist.)

3. Walking detector! Not clear how it worked; appears to have two cams, each moving a separate catwhisker. Presumably the cams were coordinated so the two catwhiskers would 'walk' across the surface of the crystal? How? I need to find more detail, or the patent. (Ebay doesn't have one of these. If it did, I'd buy it immediately.)


From other ads it's clear that Erla was focused on serving experimenters. They made easy-to-use chassis like the above, breadboardable components, and solderless connections. These devices would have made experimenting much easier than metal chassis, but the high plate voltage of most tubes would still be an unnecessary barrier.

Erla went out of the component and kit business soon, but later reorganized as Sentinel, a well-known brand making a variety of radios from battery-powered farm radios to fancy auto-tuned consoles for 30 years. Erla was in downtown Chicago; the Sentinel factory in Evanston still exists and is part of Northwestern Univ.

  Bimetralism vs bilingualism vs bimetallism
Following from previous item on dual calendar systems.

People who know two or more languages have more flexible brains. This has been observed for a long time, and recent research with MRIs has shown that it's physical. Shifting between two languages gives you two mental spaces that operate separately.

We don't have a lot of dual calendars now. As mentioned, Thailand has the only active dual calendar. Muslims and Jews use traditional lunar calendars for religious purposes and the Gregorian for secular.

In other areas of measurement, most of the world is purely metric. Only USA is dual. We use metric for some types of work and English for most.

Broadly, everything related to buildings and land is purely English. Everything related to electronics is purely metric. Other types of work are mixed. (Countertrendly, computers REdeveloped a non-decimal NATURAL measurement system for memory bytes.)

Fashionable tyrants constantly mock USA for speaking only one language, AND constantly mock USA for speaking two measurement systems. Can't have it both ways.

Before the dominance of central banks, most of the world used multiple currency systems. Gresham's Law is unfamiliar now, but it was never correct anyway.

In many disorganized third-world countries dual or triple currencies are still common, and the people are adept in using them to advantage.

When your country uses semi-official dollars and official hyperinflated Zmakniks, people know the value of each common item AND THE VARIABILITY in both dollars and Zmakniks. Since the Zmakniks are low-value and fast-changing, most people will prefer to use the higher-value and more stable dollar. This is NOT what Gresham says.

Gresham only works in a peculiar situation where the high-value currency can become a PHYSICAL collectible, while the low-value currency has no intrinsic value AS COINS. In that case the gold coins will be saved up, and the non-collectible banknotes will circulate.

A process similar to Gresham-for-collectibles sometimes happens with other types of measurement. When two units are available and one is high-status, the high-status unit will be applied to high-status items like vintage wine and BMWs, while the low-status unit continues to measure ordinary items. The distinction shows up nicely in foodie circles, where high-fashion OCD diets measure food in precise metric terms, while ordinary people measure in English or plain natural systems. OCD rich fuckheads consume 0.187 kilograms of Drizzled Reduction Nanoprotein Medallions, while ordinary humans eat a handful of chips.

  Watching the beacon
Keeping my eye on the fixed stars.

In the current holocaust only one nation has remained fully free from the start, with no surrender. A few states and small provinces have remained free, and many rural areas are effectively free because governments have finite enforcement resources. But only one nation is OFFICIALLY AND PRACTICALLY FREE.

Tanzania is still perfectly free. Sweden and Belarus have partly surrendered, which is the same thing as total surrender. After you accept just one of Satan's false assumptions, you MUST AND WILL fall in line with the entire evil pattern.

In his latest clip Mark wanders in and out of various stores and streets in Dar es Salaam, and travels on a ferry to Zanzibar. (The Chumbe lighthouse is visible for a moment!) Precisely ZERO muzzles, precisely ZERO distancing, ZERO panic and fear. Normal people living a normal HAPPY life.

Footnote on states: Florida didn't start out free, but returned to freedom faster than anyone else and remains resolutely free. DeSantis firmed up the freedom by extending his BAN on local muzzle mandates. While everyone else is extending strangulation forever, Florida extends freedom forever. DeSantis understands what he's up against. All mayors are owned by Bloomberg, and all mayors are totally committed to total holocaust. Enforcing freedom for the state itself is meaningless unless you clamp down HARD on the mayor demons.

  Possible but unlikely
Not gonna call this AI point-missing, though it's sort of halfway there.

Have you ever looked desperately for something—your passport perhaps—and then found, half an hour later, that it was right in front of you all the time? Inconspicuous but not really invisible? “Hiding in plain sight,” as the saying goes. It happens to everyone. We wonder why we didn’t find it before.

Now some researchers think they've found the reason, in an occasional form of resonance in the brain.

Seems unlikely. It might be possible to prove the correlation by experiment, but that still wouldn't explain why these particular resonances occur. It just kicks the purpose back by a notch.

The pattern is well known and well described. It's not just happening to find the hiding object. In this pattern you find the object when you're looking for something else. The pattern was called McGumper's Law. Poe mentioned it in the Imp of the Perverse. It was also discussed in some popular books about Zen, though I don't think it's really the basis of Zen.

Think of it as separate modes, separate mental spaces.

You've been looking for the passport for an hour, staying in the same focus, with the same parts of the brain activated. Then you forget about it and later start looking for your keys. You're now comparing reality with a different template, one that has keys in the foreground. The passport's interaction with the search template is different, so sometimes (not always!) it has a better chance of being seen.

  More from 1942
Another article in the 1942 Westinghouse Engineer also has an immediate resonance. The subject is electrical dust filters. History:

This simple principle of electrical precipitation of dust was noticed by Hohlfeld of Germany in 1824 as he watched the behavior of an electrical discharge in smoke. Nothing came of his observation until 1884 when Sir Oliver Lodge successfully applied the principle in a lead smelter. Electrical precipitation of dust did not become widely practical until 1906 when Cottrell, who had worked with Lodge, brought out the precipitator that bears his name.

Hmm. Lodge. Where have we heard that name? And where have we heard 1906?

Most of the article discusses various modern precipitators, based on the 1906 Cottrell invention.

In the recent Gaian Punishment Smoke Lockdown, the EPA warned us NOT to use electrical precipitators. Only use filters!

Which of them would take care of the smoke? Precipitators, not filters. I found that the filter was ineffective by experiment, but I don't have a precipitator so I don't know if it would have done a better job.

Why did EPA tell us NOT to use the precipitators? Because they generate ozone, which is a "pollutant".

Can't make it up.

The rule is always the same. Government FORBIDS self-defense and REQUIRES methods and devices that make the pollution or disease WORSE.

I made the weather connection in Polistra's 2008 time-travel story. After popping up in 1939 to escape the awfulness of 2008 (little did she know that things would continue getting unimaginably more awful!) she encounters Fran, her 1939 alter ego. Part of the discussion:

As mentioned before, the common cold question would have halted the story if I'd tried to write this piece now. Instead of curing the common cold, which didn't need curing anyway, we decided to imprison and gag and kill everyone to halt the spread of the common cold. We decided to treat ordinary people VASTLY WORSE than we treat prisoners convicted of crimes. I've been there and I know.

Focusing on the weather point:

We won't allow ourselves to do it is the key. At that time I didn't know about hail cannons, which would have strengthened the point, especially in hail-prone Oklahoma.** Both technologies WORK to prevent damage. They're not complete or always reliable, so you don't want to use them loosely. When properly targeted and considered, both techs can save billions of dollars.

The same applies to ALL forms of self-defense.

The 2nd amendment dudes are always chanting nonsense about an armed population preventing tyranny. This was always nonsense. There's no correlation. Many unarmed countries have decent rulers, and many well-armed countries have dictators. As of this year, the chant ought to be perfectly unchantable. Half of America is armed, but the demonic governors and mayors went right ahead and killed everyone. No deterrence. Only the BLM rioters have tried to attack mayors, and they were doing it because the mayors were INSUFFICIENTLY DEMONIC for their tastes, not because the mayors are TOO DEMONIC for the survival of civilization. Pluponents, not opponents.

In all areas from weather to computers to health to government, we HAVE the weapons but we refuse to use them. The most egregious part of this refusal applies to the INTRINSIC weapons in our own bodies and minds. TV and social media have neutralized our mental immunity with Room 101, and the Public Death Officers have neutralized our physical immunity with panic and lockdowns and murder masks. As I noted yesterday, the same Public Death Officers are using lockdowns against pollution, instead of allowing us to make our own judgments and adapt our own bodies.

** In fact the hail cannons, if I had known about them, would be the only valid argument in Okla. I wrote about cloud seeding because it was relevant to the Dust Bowl, but seeding requires clouds. A region is afflicted by drought because the clouds are simply going elsewhere, not because the clouds are reluctant to release rain. Hail cannons were known to work in 1902, before Okla was a state; and Okla always has more hail than the rest of the country.

  Reprinting the Self-Defense Charter
Convective and conjunctive thought based on the hail cannons and the cloud seeders.

Both of these technologies are forms of self-defense against weather. Both of them WORK. They don't work perfectly or constantly, but they work VASTLY better than doing nothing at all.

Both are remarkably efficient in terms of energy and material used. Grelifuges use small acetylene explosions to turn hail into rain. Seeding uses about 4 pounds of silver iodide powder to create a substantial rainstorm. (The Cold Rain seeding used aircraft, which are highly inefficient; but it could now be done with electric drones. 4 pounds is an easy load for a drone.)

Both have been disdained and deleted by official "science" for a long time.

We're seeing the same disdain and deletion now for ordinary immunity. Our immune systems are forms of self-defense. They don't work perfectly, but they take care of most viruses most of the time. Vaccines help them deal with a few especially deadly and contagious viruses like measles and smallpox. Immunity has no cost at all, except the discipline of living a relatively healthy life. Sunlight, exercise, proper food, confidence, work, sleep. Vaccines are a microscopic dose of weakened virus, applied once or twice in a lifetime.

I've been talking about the destruction of self-defense for a long time. Here's one compendium of the subject.

Let's put together a broad set of equivalences, starting with the idea that Natural Law is meant to provide an INHIBITORY response or NEGATIVE FEEDBACK for Deplorables against Insatiables.

How do you get from order to chaos and death? Positive feedback. Exponential functions. Wanting everything.

How do you restore and maintain order? Negative feedback. Tanh functions. Wanting something.

Positive feedback people = Insatiables.

Negative feedback people = Deplorables.

In a HEALTHY organism or culture both forces are always present. The Sorosian side of the world is no longer healthy or survivable because the inhibitory side has been eliminated and outlawed.

Natural Law is explicitly about strengthening NF and suppressing PF. Sharia does it smartly by harnessing the PF people to serve the NF people and vice versa.



The Parkinsonian agency or NGO, the 'War On', is the classic excitatory input, self-generating positive feedback. Make a problem, justify more budget, use more budget to make more problems.

What's the opposite, the inhibitory side?

The opposite of WarOn is SELF-DEFENSE at all levels, physical and commercial and informational. SELF-DEFENSE is the organizational equivalent of inhibitory synapses and negative feedback.

A charter for self-defense would include these items:

1. You should be free to own and use physical weapons and walls to defend your PROPERTY and BODY against ordinary criminals.

2. You should be free to own and use cyberweapons and cyberwalls and pre-Disney copyrights to defend your INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY from thieves and monopolies and governments.

3. You should be able to defend your CAPITAL and BUSINESS against monopolies and hostile takeovers and aggressive lawsuits and arbitrary confiscation.

4. You should be able to defend your SKILL against skill-thieves like schools and universities and innovative disrupters like Uber.

5. Cities should be able to defend their SOVEREIGNTY against black-robed demons, and to defend their people against forcible invasions of migrants and criminals by higher levels of government.

6. Governments and common carriers should not be allowed to eliminate INFORMATION needed for self-defense.

Only (1) corresponds to a currently active law. The others would be new.

I've been discussing (2) through (5) for years. I haven't gotten to (6) until just now.

(6) is needed to protect leakers like Wikileaks and soros.dcleaks.com. The latter has already been silenced. (6) would also protect policemen or writers who attempt to WARN their local populations about migrant invasions and unsafe areas. This is a big problem in EU, and I'm sure it will be coming to USA STRONG in the next few milliseconds. Evil accelerates exponentially when Soros is in control.

  Smoke cannons?
Smoke from Calif and Oregon fires is coating this part of the country. It's enhanced by an unusual lineup of fires south to north, so the prevailing wind picks up all the fires at once.

Fortunately I have a HEPA air cleaner that I bought 20 years ago when I was having dust problems. The dust problems went away but I kept it around, using it for a few minutes each day as a 'blowdryer' after shower. Now it's getting a chance to do its proper job. It helps somewhat, not entirely.

Needless to say, Mad Bomber Inslee is doing what psychopaths always do, blaming and framing someone else for HIS arson. He says these are "climate fires", not wildfires.

He's right about the latter part. They're not wild. Nearly all were ignited by non-professional arsonists, often methies or transients. More importantly, recent fires in these three states are much worse than wild because of the INTENTIONAL MISMANAGEMENT OF FORESTS by the PROFESSIONAL ARSONIST governors of Calif, Ore, and Wash, plus INTENTIONAL BLOCKAGE of normal firefighting and property defense.

So in reality these are Newsom Fires and Inslee Fires, not wildfires.

Thinking about hail cannons leads to a temporary solution. A responsible local government could create artificial rain to knock down some of the smoke. Use firefighting planes to spray water outward instead of dropping it downward. When decent clouds are available, seed the fucking clouds to make real rain.

There is only one permanent solution for a psychopath.

Unlike total political failure, this IS a brand-new phenomenon.

TV and newspapers and radio have been generating fake panics for decades, probably centuries. Until this year I was able to protect my mind from the fake emergencies by avoiding TV and radio and other paid media.

This year the fake emergency is FORCED INTO YOUR EARS AND EYES by nearly all available sources. When you check your bank account or ride the bus or shop for groceries or check the weather radar, EVERY SINGLE SCREEN AND SPEAKER is blaring and screeching Big Brother's grim fake "milestones" and grim MURDEROUS requirements, instructing us to participate in our own kidnapping and murder.

It's exactly like 1984 or North Korea.

I've been noting and saluting the rare exceptions. Haven't seen any new exceptions lately, but I'll keep watching and noting.

  It's a clock! It's a printer! It's SUPERBAIN!
In this case I'm venturing up from the Ungreats into the Semigreats. Alexander Bain isn't a household word like Morse, but Bain successfully competed with Morse for a while.

The earliest failed attempts at telegraphy used chemical processes. Most used electrolysis, with 26 separate wires running across the land. Each wire was switched by its own key. All 26 were immersed in water at the receiving end. When each wire was charged, the receiving end formed bubbles under the appropriate letter.

Bain continued using chemistry in a more sophisticated way. His best attempt, which was popular for a while, was a 'ticker tape' that received and recorded the impulses from Morse senders. The current passed from a pointer through a chemically treated paper tape to a grounded backplane, creating visible blue dots and dashes where the dye was activated. This wouldn't have been fun for me to animate, since it was just a box with a paper strip coming out.

Bain's first invention was more fun by my standards. It mixed chemistry with another early theme in telegraphy.

Morse's original project was more like a linotype than a telegraph. The message to be sent was set up in type on a stick, then the sender would read the dots and dashes from specially formed patterns on the side of the letters. At the receiving end the codes would trigger a dispenser for letters, dropping the letters into a stick for printing. This idea never worked properly, and Morse finally realized that it was easier to use lots of human skill operating a simple key and sounder. The actual Linotype developed much later, completely separate from telegraphy and electricity. Even though it used Morse's methods it wasn't a direct evolution.

Here Bain was trying to read a fully set page of type or any other raised pattern as pixels. An engraving or etching, such as a copper stereotype plate, would serve especially well.

Bain called it IMPROVEMENT IN COPYING SURFACES BY ELECTRICITY in his 1848 patent.

I'm calling it the TeleTact. Here I've placed it in my printery scene for obvious reasons. Polistra is loading the TeleTact with a stereotype plate.



Let 'er rip!



A clock movement (hands on other side) powers the heavy pendulum. The pointer is forced to stay parallel, and it scans across the mysterious box line by line. When the pendulum makes contact with the 'ticker' points (just above Happystar's eyes) it energizes an electromagnet that escapes the rope pulley, allowing the mysterious box to drop one line.

What's happening inside the mysterious box?

The wires that are touching the protruding parts of the type or engraving are grounded. (Shown in gold here.) When the pointer hits those wires, it conducts a current through a relay, sending a pulse through the telegraph wires to the receiver.

Bain's system had one truly unique and elegant feature which hasn't been repeated in any sort of TV or scanner or printer since then. The sender and receiver were exactly the same machine. How did this work?



On the receiving end, the pointer was sending current toward ground at the moments in the scan when the sending pointer had encountered a 'high point' in the engraving. In the receiver, a chemically treated paper was inserted between the wire grid and ground. The wires that received current from the pointer would cause a reaction in the dye, darkening the paper at those points.

So the sender became a receiver by inserting paper instead of an engraving. No other changes needed. ELEGANT.

The magnet on the bottom leg was used for a separate purpose, which Bain intended to be included in the scanning process. It wouldn't have worked that way. The bottom magnet was a solenoid with a little latch bolt inside.



When energized it would pop out the latch bolt and hold back the pendulum for one tick. Bain seemed to intend this as a synchronizer during the scan. This would have been messy, with some ticks used for inking and some for syncing. Heavy pendulums keep time pretty well, so it would have sufficed to run a sync session between scan sessions. Then the signals wouldn't have been confused.

  Speaking of Cincinnati....
Vintage.es has some dramatic pictures of Cincy's old Main Library. This picture reminds me of the Old Stacks in college libraries where I used to spend many pleasant hours, but most of the Cincy library required the talents of circus acrobats or Mohawk steel workers. Reaching for a huge old folio on the top shelf of the 6th level while standing on a rolling ladder on a tiny cantilevered balcony. One mistake and you're dead.

A commenter added the usual leftist crap that losing track of books made Orange Man possible. Leaving out the partisan nonsense, he has a point. We have lost our ground connection to history, which makes ALL of the horrible genocidists possible, everywhere except the five blessed exceptions, Sweden and Belarus and Turkmenistan and Korea and Japan.

There's no difference between Trump and Biden and Boris and Merkel and Macron. All of them belong strictly to Deepstate, all are holocausters, all are destroying history and science and logic and thought along with billions of human lives, for no purpose except their own deranged demonic pleasure.

BUT: The commenter is absolutely wrong that books are no longer available. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, all old books are available to everyone in an instant, with no travel or expense or acrobatics.

Every day I use and thank Google Books, which paid its own acrobats to find and scan all of those old books so we don't have to climb 10 flights of narrow stairs in the Old Stacks and reach up on rolling ladders to pull them out. We don't even have to drive or fly to Cincy or Berlin or Madison to ask acrobat librarians to fetch the books.

If you're not using Google Books to READ the old permanent solid untainted knowledge, it's your own fucking fault, idiot.

  Sidereal sharia
Since this holocaust started, my dream scripter has been trying to preserve a separate mental space, which is a proper mental immune response to epidemics of insanity and evil. Often the dreams are obvious attempts to maintain CONFIDENCE in the face of the CONFIDENCE-SMASHING psychopaths.

Tonight's dream had the same confident tone, but the subject matter was unusual. It linked the 'Be Your Own Beacon' theme (stick with observed Nature no matter which team agrees with it) to Sharia Law.

Neither of those topics had ever appeared in a dream before.

The historical linkage of beacons and Islam is easy, and I've been thinking about it and writing about it already. Every advanced culture has used astronomy for religious purposes. Early Islam made a special point of this linkage, as seen in the Ridhwan clock.

The dream made the connection on a more personal level, avoiding a fake 'team' that was supposedly on the same side as Sharia. This temptation hasn't actually come up in real life, so I doubt that it's a literal warning; it's just a personal-level metaphor.

  Adding Florida to the reclamation map
I've been occasionally noting REAL returns to sanity, real gains for God's side, on the map. Most of Europe is flowing in the right direction now, but going with the flow doesn't deserve special attention.

I've been reluctant to add any US states to the anti-Satan forces. Several are going with the flow, and deserve tentative praise; but several that started in the right direction have already collapsed to Satan. Especially Texas.

I think Florida finally makes the grade. Gov DeSantis has been clearly articulating REAL science for quite a while, debunking the genocidal misuses of numbers and "cases". Now he has made a SOLID statement with NO wiggle room.

Headline: Not going back.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Tuesday that the state will not reimpose sweeping shutdowns amid rising coronavirus infections, saying that going back to lockdowns would cripple the economy without saving lives.

DeSantis drew the line even as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott last week ordered all bars closed, and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey told residents to stay home and declared that the state was “on pause." Just last week, after the state recorded 25,000 new infections in just five days and 9,000 in one day alone, Florida once again prohibited the on-premises consumption of alcohol at bars; there are no restrictions on occupancy at gyms or stores.

So Florida joins the few COURAGEOUS realists.



I've also added South Dakota, where Gov Noem has been equally firm and clear from the start. I probably should have put her on the map earlier.

7/9 update: Florida is still holding SOLID, and now adding a SOLID MANDATE to reopen schools ALL THE WAY in the fall. More Bravo!

  How fast does thought travel?
While looking for more ancient stuff to animate, found an interesting 1915 book of questions and factoids. The Book of Wonders is something like Ripley or Hix, but more oriented toward serious descriptions of how things work and how people do their jobs.

Some of the questions are predictable, but some are astonishingly original.

At What Rate Does Thought Travel?

Thought travels 111 feet per second, or about a mile and a quarter per minute. Elaborate experiments have been made by Professors Helmholtz, Hersch, and Donders, to ascertain the facts on this question, the result of which was that they found the process of thought varied in rapidity in different individuals, children and old persons thinking more slowly than people of middle age, and ignorant people more slowly than the educated.

Well, this is clearly dealing with axon signal speed, not thought as such. It also shows a standard academic prejudice. "Ignorant people" don't take longer to answer a question because they're dumb. They take longer because they have to think about it. They have to process the answer in CPU. "The educated" have quick answers to most questions stored in lookup-table form. The same distinction applies to children vs oldsters vs middle age. Middle age is a time of certainty when you "know" everything. Children haven't built the lookup tables, and oldsters have learned that the lookup tables are crap. Thought takes longer when you think.

My summary:

Signals travel along axons at widely varying rates, constantly adjusted to keep the two ends of the path synced up with other paths that are involved in the same resonance. EQUIPOISE, a balanced resonance, is the invariant goal. Glial cells constantly monitor the signal paths along axons, modifying the myelin to slow or speed one path as needed. If one path changes due to damage or revision, the glial cells go to work again to get the bounces along this path sync'd with the other paths involved in this thought.

THIS IS AMAZING.

Is this closer to the Book Of Wonders answer, or closer to the idiotic statistical non-answer at MindMatters? Closer to the Book Of Wonders, which is talking about speed instead of time-free "available choices".

Here's my attempt to animate the idea, since the original article doesn't include an animation.

We're looking at two axonal paths between a pair of brain nuclei. Thought waves bounce back and forth between the nuclei at a speed which is CONTROLLED TO SYNC THE RESONANCE. Happystar appropriately represents a glial traffic cop.


Now the SUPERamazing part. When a path changes because of damage or revision of the pattern, the glial cops change the speed yet again to keep the resonance in sync.



Moral of the story:



LIFE IS PURPOSE.

Life always manages to restore and accomplish its PURPOSES, despite all destructive efforts by microscopic pathogens and giant demonic psychopathogens.
