Yeah, 10 shillings is half a pound, and 50 pence is half a pound. But that's not what TODAY'S MONEY means, dummy. There's more to it than LSD vs Decimal. There's also inflation. An online calculator shows that half a pound in 1922 has inflated to 22 pounds now.
How much money would it take to hire "journalists" with actual brains, who can DETECT when something doesn't seem right?
Obviously the wrong question. The whole purpose of "journalism" is to copy-paste Imperial Doctrine WITHOUT detecting errors or oddities.

An unrelated Failure To Detect, in an article on a successful remote hack of Tesla murder machines:
... the most dangerous thing they were able to do was to engage the car’s braking from 12 miles away. Such an attack, performed against a car being driven at high speed on a highway, could result in a serious rear-end collision. The researchers reported all of the vulnerabilities through Tesla’s bug bounty program, and the company is working on patches. Fortunately, Tesla cars can receive firmware updates remotely...Correcting the last sentence: Fortunately, Tesla cars can be hacked remotely. As long as you have an open path to any sort of web-connected signal, you WILL be hacked. There is no software solution. The only solution is to remove all open paths.
