  Convective conjunction

Putting the previous two items together supports a hypothesis that I had considered earlier. The "virus" holocaust is the last item on Soros's bucket list.

The holocaust smells like Soros, but his fingerprints on the whole project are NOT clear.

The Soros business plan, constant for 30 years, is like the Underpants Gnome plan except for the question marks. When you own everything there are no question marks.

BUSINESS PLAN:

1. Steal a country.

2. This moves a targeted Share Value up or down.

3. Profit.

He has run this monstrous plan on several countries since 1990, killing millions of Untermenschen as a pleasant side-effect for an old purebred Nazi like Soros. He has already beaten the killcount of his dearly beloved mentor Adolf.

The conjunction of Lukashenko's surrender followed immediately by JPMorgan's conversion to reality points to Soros. He has been working on Belarus for a LONG time, and his normal Color Revolution method has been plainly visible there during the holocaust.

Now that Lukashenko has surrendered, the desired target value will move in the right direction by the right number of euros or dollars, so the all-out military effort against the entire world can be spun down. Some of the lower-level psychopaths, now that they've tasted blood, will continue slaughtering Untermenschen, which will give Soros added pleasure if he bothers to notice it.

  Hi, JPMorgan

The stock demons were Early Adopters of the holocaust. In Feb they were already pushing HARD for total lockdown.

Now JPMorgan has joined the sane side:
However, in a surprising report out of JPMorgan, the bank finds no meaningful curve development differences between countries with and without strong curve intervention. This makes the bank question if existing public health intervention (i.e., lockdown/ stricter social distancing) should remain in place next year, and leads JPM to conclude that "public health policy should consider approaches biased towards economic/public mental health over the urge to close the curve in 2021."
Since governments listen to JPMorgan, will this make a difference? Maybe? PLEASE, LORD?

  Bye, Belarus

Muzzles become mandatory in Minsk.

I saw this coming; wasn't clear at first, but now it's verified.

The Free World is down to Tanzania.

Plus some states in Dixie, plus small towns and rural areas in all countries, where the Holocaust Gestapo doesn't have enforcers.

Later: Uganda also appears to be practically free, judging from a variety of random recent videos. I don't know what their government says, but the people are clearly living a normal free life.

  Where are the yoots?

In 2012 I hoped that the relatively young and popular Obama would reboot our generation counter. He won two elections easily and cleanly against OLD Repooflicans, without any nonsense about hanging chads or disputed votes or faithless electors. You'd think both parties would want to replicate that type of easy victory leading to solid political capital. Nope. It didn't happen. Trump and Hillary are Boomers, and now Trump and Biden are Boomers. Biden is obviously senile. Among the collapsed fake candidates, only Tulsi is genuinely young. Bernie is older than Biden but still mentally sound.

The best guess is that young politicians simply don't want to get anywhere near the incomprehensibly monstrous grotesque blackmail-driven top level. They're close enough to see how it works, and they recoil in revulsion. Just waiting for the monsters to die, which is the only way change happens in a totally fucked dynasty-based lunacy like science or politics.

An instructive example occurred here in the 99999th circle of Hell. Normally a Governor and Lieutenant Governor run on the same ticket, and normally the Lt has some "official" duties while he makes his bones with the Party. In this case the Lt was a completely unknown and obscure young non-politician who never got in the news, and he left the state several months before the "election". Apparently he moved Southeast to a sane state and started graduate studies at a seminary. Nobody noticed.

I don't blame him. Living in the same state with a superdemon like Inslee is beyond all limits of horror and terror. I can't imagine what it would be like to deal with Mad Bomber Inslee occasionally.

.... Well, no, I CAN imagine. I shared a jail cell with a psychopath for several months in 1969. I do know what it's like, and that's why I don't blame the Lt Gov for getting out while the getting's good.

  Thankful?

Today isn't the cruelly named "thanksgiving" day, but the nearby church has a phrase on its readerboard:

WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?

So I'll try to answer. Exactly NOTHING in the modern world. EVERYTHING in the modern world is infinitely demonic and holocaustal. If there's a precise antonym to thankful, that's how I feel.

I'm thankful for the mysterious and infinite gift of life, and I try in my tiny way to respond by making a bit of beauty and education, and providing service to courseware customers.

More importantly, I'm thankful to the writers and radio entertainers of the '30s and '40s who wrote EMPATHETIC DRAMA and CLEAN HUMOR to help people get through terrible times. Nobody in modern superhell is even bothering to write or create entertainment.

And then I'm thankful to the archivers and digitizers who have been working for the last 30 years, buying and trading old tapes and discs and digitizing the audio for modern use.

Those old programs weren't meant to be permanent. Many of them weren't even meant to be recorded. They were just ephemeral tossoffs, heard once and forgotten, done for minimal pay.

Nevertheless, the writers felt a DUTY to provide a real public service, including some education. Because of the preservers and retailers, the genuine entertainment is still instantly available in a hellish time with NO currently produced entertainment or music.

  Here it is.

From a fairly quiet writer, here's the HACK that opens up the EXACT MECHANISM AND SOURCE of the holocaust within USA. This doesn't go back to the worldwide synchronization, and doesn't show the preparation behind the trigger-pull, but it shows us the exact point of origin of the crime in DC, and tells us who actually pulled the trigger.

Via Jeffrey Tucker at AIER.
On March 12, 2020, the memo went out from the pen of Carter Mecher, bioterrorism expert advising the Veterans Administration. It went out to public health officials and others from around the nation. Close the schools. Pull the trigger now. And it happened, and with it, civic freedoms we have long taken for granted – freedom to travel, operate businesses, go to the movies, even leave our homes – were taken away.

They shut the schools. Then it was like dominos falling, one by one. The businesses had to close so that people could watch the kids at home. The shopping centers had to close because otherwise the kids would just gather there. The churches too. Entertainment venues were shut. Even parks closed. The stay-at-home orders followed from the school closures. In many ways, the whole legitimacy of lockdown hinged on the merit of the school closure.

A small group of pro-lockdown scientists cheered, as their decade-and-a-half-old dream of conducting such a social experiment was finally becoming a reality.

The school closures had a disproportionate effect on working women. They left their jobs to care for the kids, attempting to help them navigate the strange new world of Zoom classrooms and do assignments via email. Men stayed working in jobs as the primary breadwinners.
BRAVO to Jeffrey Tucker and to AIER. Now the blackmail has been EXPOSED. Nothing will change, but the Martian archeologists will know where the world suicide started.

Note for idiot Trump supporters: This criminal was working for Trump, and was not fired. Trump started the lockdowns and masks and riots, then stood back and played both "sides" to insure that the massacre got worse. He has played this game on every subject from the start. Remember: TRUMP WAS ROY COHN'S PROTEGE.

  Revolt by a MAYOR

Until now the mayors have been the harshest holocausters, often disobeying relatively sane governors.

Finally we have ONE mayor of a fairly sizable city who is refusing to follow the holocaust. Thrill Killer Newsom has placed the San Diego area under total starvation blockade, as explicit punishment for "rebellion" by the citizens. Thrill Killer Newsom has clearly been studying and admiring Japan's treatment of Nanjing. The mayor of El Cajon says FIRMLY that his police and officials will NOT assist the massacre and will NOT close any businesses.

The mayor of San Diego expresses dissatisfaction with the massacre but isn't doing anything to protect his citizens from mass murder. Dissatisfaction is meaningless.

The clip from KUSI is also notable because the REPORTER is clearly sane, and is speaking from a viewpoint of sanity instead of the standard media pro-massacre viewpoint.

Is there a broader movement brewing? Hard to tell. Woodward seemed to have a moment of sanity last week. She hasn't actually changed anything, but I doubt that she would have felt free to express sanity without some degree of external support.

Elections and laws don't matter. Lawsuits have no effect. The innate personality of leaders DOES matter, and a few heroic courageous leaders have kept a few entire nations and states free from the holocaust. If courageous leaders act in unison, less heroism would be needed, and things might start to improve. When a gangster's subthugs refuse to obey IN UNISON, he has two choices. He can either kill all of them and lose the chance to recruit new subthugs, or he can back off and stay in power.

  How, What, Who REPRINT

Cited this in previous item. Worth a full reprint.

From 2010, mainly focused on the 2008 Stock fake panic.

= = = = = START REPRINT:

Three types of knowledge: How, What, Who.

All three types are necessary, and everyone uses all three types all the time, but the dominant type strongly influences the form and the success of a culture.

= = = = =

How-ism is based on skills, on knowing the way. How to build, how to cook, how to repair, how to keep people happy, how to keep them under control. How-knowledge comes directly from the senses, tempered and conditioned by comparison and proportion, with a constant awareness of feedback and cycles. (Does this work better? How can I tell when it's better? When does it repeat?) How-knowledge can be passed with no words at all from mother to daughter, father to son, master to apprentice.

What-ism is based on facts, on knowing the data. What-knowledge requires language, symbols and formulas. You can acquire what-knowledge by reading or listening.

Who-ism is based on identity and quotation. Who-knowledge requires a strong sense of status, an up-to-date reading of comparative authority, and a tape-recorder mind. If the high-status person says "2+2=5" and wears Prada, we must say "2+2=5" and wear Prada. If the low-status person says "2+2=4" and wears J.C. Penney, we must mock "2+2=4" and discard everything with a J.C. Penney label.

= = = = =

In basic neurological terms, How belongs to both genders, What belongs to the male-type brain, and Who belongs to the female-type brain. [Caveat: this raw gender correlation is dramatically obvious in simple-minded people but somewhat submerged by other capabilities and shapings in smarter types.]

In chronological terms (again loose and overlapping!), America was dominated by How until WW2, by What from WW2 through 1990, and by Who since 1990.

= = = = =

The high point of How-ism in America was the era of invention from 1840 to 1920. Morse, Bell, Edison, Carver, Ford: all were How-ites, developing a vision based on a set of skills, and knowing how to turn the vision into a real device or method with some assistance from What-ish data and numbers. Ford was probably the purest Howite, since his best inventions were methods and social structures, not devices.

= = = = =

The high point of What-ism was clearly the Apollo moon shot, though Apollo 13 was famously saved by the ductape of How.

= = = = =

And the final wild spin-out of What-ism is the recent stock market crime. I've been listening to the Congressional hearings and I'm struck by the total absence of any proportion, any comparison, any sense of cycles, even any curiosity among the conspirators. The investigators (especially the magnificent How-ite Elizabeth Warren) constantly ask questions like "Didn't you stop to think?" or "Didn't you wonder why this was happening?" or "Didn't you ask what's wrong with this picture?" And the Wall Street Mafiosi on the other side of the table simply DO NOT COMPUTE the questions. Their answers are synthetic and nakedly numerical: "Value Goal Credit Default Swap Senior Tranche ... Calculating ... Eight Three Dot Six." Obviously these biped enumeration modules were not programmed for pattern recognition or comparison or wonderment, except for "Which action brings me more money?"

= = = = =

Verbal Who-ism is the mark of the Royalist, the Catholic, the cultist. If the current King/Pope/Leader says "X", I know "X" is true and I will defend it to the death. If the Pretender to the Throne says "X", I know "X" is false and I will fight against it with all my energy. In most cases "X" is the same thing, which means the Who-ist defends and opposes the same idea at different times.

Visual Who-ism is the mark of the Paparazzi. A photographer who gets the right candid shot of Britney Spears can receive half a million dollars for one click of the shutter. Why is this one image so valuable? Because lots of people want to see Britney Spears. Why do lots of people want to see Britney Spears, when better-looking women can be seen on the streets of any city? Because "news" sources, working together with Britney's agents, have stirred up the buzz. This circular process makes a lot of money for a few people but contributes absolutely nothing to the progress of civilization. In fact, by monopolizing media channels that might otherwise carry a wider variety of entertainment and info, it displaces What and drives civilization backwards.

Who displaces both How and What on the verbal level. You can see this in any web forum. In Who-land, observation is illegal. You're not allowed to examine nature or events and draw a rational inductive conclusion. You're only allowed to quote a credentialed authority who belongs to Team A or Team B. If your quote is precisely accurate, the authority's own team will cheer and the opposing team will boo. If your quote is inaccurate or (horror of horrors!!!!) you cite nothing more than plain reality, you're out of the arena. Banned for life.

Newsreaders before 1990 were free to say something like "It appears that the protesters are trying to push back the police." You won't hear that today. Instead, you hear "Some say that the protesters etc." Everything must be a quotation or a citation, and the Team Membership of the citation must be clear. When a sentence starts with "Critics say..." you know the rest of the sentence will be the heretical view, the racist/sexist/homophobic/Halliburtonist view that you're required to mock and disdain.

Finally, when you apply Who to an area of life that should be treated exclusively with How and What, you get the Global Warming Conspiracy. For many millenia the How-ites have observed and understood the ups and downs of Earthly seasons by watching plants, animals, sun and moon. Around 1700 the Whatians made it possible to measure temperature reliably and record the numbers for future generations, thus helping us to understand the longer cycles, the hyper-seasons of the world. Since 1988 science has been replaced by money, power and peer review, the essence of Who. Any data that disagrees with Commissars Maurice Strong and James Hansen is Undata. It does not exist, and those who continue to use it are Unpersons, subject to Liquidation at any moment.

= = = = = END REPRINT.

Footnote: Some of the names in that piece are obsolete. Britney is still around but not a big deal. Halliburton is still around but not used as a cussword. FUCKTRUMP has subsumed all other cusswords. Now that FUCKTRUMP is out, the left will have to find lower level cusswords, which might be less universally effective. Strong is dead and Hansen is either dead or out of action. Algore is also out of action. There aren't any equivalent Big Names in the "global warming" genocide lately. Greta was briefly in fashion but seems to have faded. The "virus" holocaust took all the glory and fame from the Carbon Cult. Recently there are signs that the Carbonites are getting dissatisfied and trying to reclaim the top spot, which might be somewhat helpful for the peasants who are dying like flies from the "virus" lockdowns and masks. Distracted psychopaths are marginally less lethal than tightly focused psychopaths.

  Quickie on audions

I'm not doing justice to this subject but felt the need or duty to output SOMETHING with a bit of meaning, as counterforce to the wild destruction of logic and meaning. I might return later with a proper animation.

The first triode tube, DeForest's audion, looked a lot like the existing detectors for radio waves, and was used first as a detector plus incidental amplifier. Soon the audion's real use for amplification became clearer, and detection was separated from amplification.

Here Polistra is receiving Morse with an audion. I've shown a parallel connection to an external coherer to illustrate the substitution, but there wouldn't have been a real reason to connect them.

Coherers were uniquely suited to spark gap transmitters. When spark gaps were gradually replaced by high-frequency alternators, then by tube oscillators, coherers were replaced by rectifiers. I'm showing two typical crystal rectifiers next to the coherer; first the common vertical catwhisker, then the enclosed horizontal version often used in military receivers.

Closeup of the audion in action, connected to a receiver that tuned the incoming signal. The filament ran straight through from top to bottom; the grid was a sparse spiral around it; the plate surrounded the grid.

Inner view without the glass. The action was similar to Lodge's precipitator. The hot filament threw off electrons. If the grid was uncharged, the electrons passed through to the positively charged plate easily. If the grid had a negative charge, it repelled the negative electrons and they stayed around the filament. The ability of a charge (without current) to regulate the flow of a large current is the valving or amplifying effect. Because the grid only varied the current when the charge on it was negative, it also rectified the incoming signal, giving rise to the demodulating or detecting effect.

These earliest audions typically used 12 to 20 volts on the plate. Later submini tubes returned to this range of voltage, but by that time transistors were already underway. As I discussed earlier, if tubes had continued on this scale, it would have made experimentation much easier and safer, and it also would have made rechargeable batteries more practical. Wet batteries are necessarily big, and a wet battery for the typical 90 volt B supply would occupy a major piece of furniture. Dry batteries are wasteful of materials and short-lived, but 90 volts could be packed into a cardboard case about 6 inches long.

  Only one partial hope

Berenson:

Now they have frightened us into giving them massive power (I've been reading up on the swine flu vaccine fiasco of 1976, when something similar happened)... and we are going to have to figure out how to take it back.

We can't take it back. The conspiracy will lose its coherence, but not necessarily its power, when somebody with a loud enough public voice OPENS THE FUCKING BLACKMAIL, as I've been saying a trillion times from the fucking start.

This won't happen until somebody in the inner circle abruptly loses power and glory, and wants to gain revenge.

But the record of opening full-scale genocides isn't promising. The "global warming" genocide, much less severe than the "virus" holocaust, was fully opened by the 2009 hack. All the mechanisms of corruption were laid bare. Nothing changed.

The 2016 Wikileaks exposed the solid connection between DNC and media, and the total control of Trump by DNC. Fully open for all to see. Nothing changed. Everyone continued to play the same game.

We've already had a few partial openings: Magufuli's magnificent experiment, which should have destroyed WHO entirely; and Lukashenko's courageous revelation that IMF offered him a bribe to go along with the holocaust. We've also heard public statements from hospital CEOs disproving the claim that the hospitals were overloaded. None of these disproofs had the slightest effect. Nothing changed.

The only real hope is boredom, as I've also been saying a trillion times. Psychopaths are addicted to killing and destruction. They are incurable as long as they are breathing, but they can be distracted or lose interest. When the victims are showing signs of life and rebellion, the demon remains in a killing frenzy. If the victims are totally submissive, sooner or later the demon gets bored and goes on to something else.

Several of the recent subpanics have faded from boredom. The riots faded in most places but remained in a few cities where the mayor was in charge of the riots. The statue-pullers lost interest and faded entirely. The 'woke' crap faded in the typical way of witch hunts, when the fires started to burn the people who lighted the torches.

= = = = =

Later and clearer thought, also stated a trillion times already. In the "global warming" genocide and the "virus" holocaust, secret information wasn't needed. Hacks and revelations can show us the inner workings of the conspiracy, but plain old publicly available information proves that the panic was faked.

For "global warming", the curves of CO2 vs temperature have always been in the public record, and always show that CO2 is NOT the cause of hotter weather. CO2 is one of the consequences of hotter weather. For "virus", the CDC's own published data FROM THE FUCKING START has shown that there is no epidemic. The CDC's own published data agrees with ordinary observed reality that the deaths from this "virus" are pre-scheduled deaths, people who were already within a year or so from terminal. These are relabeled deaths, not "new" deaths.

In both genocides, an ordinary natural cycle was singled out and relabeled as WITCHCRAFT, requiring TOTAL DESTRUCTION to wipe out the witches.

And in both fake panics the "solutions" given by the conspirators are DIRECTLY OPPOSITE to the facts allowed and revealed by the conspirators.

For "global warming", everything we're supposed to do to avoid the apocalypse makes ordinary adaptive action harder. The Green imperatives explicitly forbid normal flood control and weather protection methods, and many of the imperatives INCREASE floods and pollution. For "virus", everything we're supposed to do is DESTRUCTIVE TO IMMUNITY. Lockdowns and masks DESTROY immunity, as the OBSERVED FACTS SHOW WITH MURDEROUS CLARITY. Real public health before March 2020 understood these facts and would NEVER have required people to ABOLISH THEIR OWN IMMUNITY.

The perfect disconnect is NOT ACCIDENTAL. This is the Sucker Filter. These conspiracies are designed as cults. They blast you with URGENT ACTIONS needed to avoid the APOCALYPSE, and they select the craziest True Believers to implement the conspiracy by using the old Sucker Filter technique. If you can see the disconnect, the cult doesn't want you as a witch-burning soldier. Only pure followers of PERSONAL AUTHORITY are wanted.

The value of keeping a daily worklog

I always keep a detailed worklog of real courseware projects and fun graphics projects. Good programming habit. A few years ago I started keeping a worklog for life in general, tracking sleep, dumps, moods, health stuff.

This morning I noticed a blister on the right heel that was starting to bleed. Seemed familiar, so I checked last year's life worklog. Yup, the same blister happened ON THE SAME DAY last year.

Last year I had been walking extra, avoiding one bus trip because I was having vestibular trouble that was sometimes tricky on buses.

This year I've been walking extra, avoiding one bus trip to minimize time under murder mask. I've also been adding a separate 2nd walk every day to burn off the annoyance, which I didn't do last year.

Patterns repeat, and there's a "reason" for the pattern each time. In reality the pattern matters more than the "reason".

Last year I reluctantly stopped the extra walking, took the bus both ways, and the blister healed in a few days.

Cold weather is also a factor in the exact date. Skin gets dry and stiff in cold, and shoes shrink a bit.

EXPERIENCE SURVIVES.... but only if you're able to learn from the experience. A worklog helps the learning.

  Where is ordinary corruption?

Pfizer announces a 90% effective vaccine for the "virus". Normally this would be good news, and if we believe the alleged logic of the lockdowns and muzzles, we should be willing to take the vaccine and get rid of the lockdowns and muzzles. I'd be more than happy to do it, and I'd be willing to pay HUGE money for the vaccine if it would GUARANTEE no more lockdowns and muzzles.

The Big Science websites are firmly cheering the vaccine, as they should. Vaccines are REAL science and REAL public health. This is the first instance of REAL science in this 9-month-long hyperholocaust. Even Chief Holocauster Fauci is cheering for it!

I didn't expect it would work that way, and of course it won't work. We won't get the vaccine, and nothing will change. Science and logic are entirely flipped and reversed into total insanity beyond all imagination.

Lord Cuomo has already stated that he won't let New Yorkers take the vaccine because it happened during Trump. He will encourage other governor demons to halt the vaccine as well because it's a Trump vaccine. Mad Bomber Inslee won't need any encouragement.

Where are the adults? What happened to ALWAYS FOLLOW FAUCI? Where is ordinary commercial self-interest? Why doesn't Pfizer come out and knock Cuomo down for being an anti-vaxxer? Why don't the establishment Big Science websites knock him down?

There are no Republicans in Big Science, and no Republicans anywhere in Pfizer. That's automatic. None of those people were doing it for Trump. They were doing it for profit and for real science, both honorable motives. They sure as hell weren't doing all that work to provide Cuomo with another way to be a mass murderer.

Why don't they defend their own POLITICAL PURITY from Cuomo, if they won't defend their profit and science?

If we can't believe in a vaccine because it happened during Trump, then how come we have to believe in the "virus" itself, which also happened during Trump?

  Fake sore losers switch sides

After 4 years of D puppets shouting about fraud, now we get 4 years of R puppets shouting about fraud.

Here. I'll help you.

If you really want people to think that elections make a difference, you need to PROVE IT.

WHEN YOU'RE IN POWER, make a difference. Do something that the other side isn't doing. Do something that actually helps ordinary people. Give the people a REASON to choose your brand, a REASON to support you instead of the other side.

This won't happen, of course. Neither side has any intention of helping people or being different. Both sides serve Deepstate identically. That's all. Both sides do the "election" routine to pull in money. That's all.

Both sides have mastered the fine art of repelling and disgusting and eliminating all real voters, leaving only the mechanical and reliable Rbots and Dbots. The Electoral College created this setup, and both parties love it. They don't need to prove anything or do anything. They can just give the appropriate signals to a few thousand bots in two states.

  Reprint on Mutual Loyalty

I linked this 2014 piece in previous item. It deserves a full reprint.

= = = = = START REPRINT:

Heard a PSA from a union-based group trying to restore full time work to retail and other areas where corporations have been ruthlessly 'temping'.

The ad uses Henry Ford's famous idea that a worker should earn enough to buy the product he makes. Seems odd for unions to cite Henry, since he turned into a literal union-basher later in life ... but his original idea is still wonderfully valid.

Historically, Henry wasn't the first exponent of this notion, but he was the biggest, so I'll use his name for convenience here. As Polistra has often noted, Social Economics was a full-scale movement. Some companies may have picked up the idea as a way to deter unions, but they soon found out that it was better for everyone. Unions couldn't move in when workers were satisfied, and profits increased when workers felt secure.

My first thought in response to the ad: Henry figured out that you could use a man like a machine by treating him like a man. Other employers were treating men like machines, which simply doesn't work. Didn't work then, doesn't work now.

Second thought: No, wait. The analogy is backwards. When you have a useful machine, how do you actually treat it? You don't kick it out the door at the end of the day and assume that it will maintain itself. You don't loan it out to others. You don't throw it away the first time it makes an odd noise.

Instead, you keep it carefully in proper storage when it's not being used. You oil it and repair it and protect it from thieves and hackers of various sorts. You want it to remain useful as long as possible.

This is the Ford secret. Treat men more like machines, and they will serve you well.

We have been bamboozled by the corporatists into seeing this form of employment as "slavery".

In fact this form of employment is the only form that has ever worked. Maintaining your servants, feeding them, housing them, caring for them when they're old or sick. THIS IS NORMAL through nearly all of human history, and it's still normal in many parts of the world.

Through nearly all of human history, we've had two simultaneous work systems:

(1) The independent trader or craftsman, offering his wares or services. At least nominally, he has control of his life and soul and work. Before the evil invention of anti-discrimination "laws", he could choose not to sell his wares to people who made him uncomfortable, or people who required him to sell his soul along with his work. Now, in the Age of Holder, Satan reigns supreme and you are required to sell your soul if you want to survive.

(2) Servitude. If you preferred security, or your skills weren't appropriate for an individual craft, you became part of someone else's household or manor. You plowed his fields or cooked his food or swept his floors, and in return he cared for you like a machine.

Employment solely for money, with no maintenance or other permanent connection, is an extremely recent invention. Sola pecunia infested Western Europe and America from 1700 to 1880. After 1880 the Ford style began to pull us back toward NORMAL employment. From 1880 to 1970 the Ford style and the Morgan style competed. (Morgan wasn't the inventor of sola pecunia, as Ford wasn't the inventor of Social Economics; but through this period Morgan and similar pirates bought and smashed every company that succeeded by the Ford method. So his name is also a convenient icon.)

Since 1970 the Morgan style is universal and unchallenged in the West. The Japs and Koreans picked up the Ford style when we dropped it, and unsurprisingly their employees are more loyal and effective than ours.

= = = = =

Time for Polistra's prime question.

What does Nature think?

Nature has two forms of work and payment.

(1) The souk or marketplace, with plants as the sellers and animals as the buyers. Plants advertise their wares with color and smell and flashing digital reader boards. Their wares provide real nutrition and addictive chemicals to keep the customers loyal. Animals pay by helping plants complete their sex acts, and by spreading the plant species to new locations. (It's a bit like prostitution with the incentives reversed!)

(2) Servitude or symbiosis. In a few situations like beehives or ants keeping aphids, Nature's servitude is identical to human servitude. More often it's metaphorical, with microbe symbiosis like our gut bacteria or the luminous bacteria used by fish and pyrosomes.

Does nature have employment at will, with disposable employees? Nope. Not at all.

= = = = =

Well then. If the Ford style means treating men like machines, what does the Morgan style mean?

Treating men like numbers.

When you use a number, you don't keep it around. It serves you briefly as a written or imagined or digital symbol, and then it's gone.

Not surprising that the modern Morgan-owned corporation with its infinite drive toward infinite abstraction and infinite greed prefers abstract employees. If wetware workers are unavoidable because they're the cheapest alternative, they must be kept on the other side of the world where we don't have to look at them. Ideally we'll just replace them all with pure software that doesn't need to be paid at all.

Purely unnatural. Purely evil. Purely Satan.

  Gets one point, misses another

At Imaginative Conservative, a review of a new book by Yoram Hazony.
“Actual biological kinship is never more than a raw material upon which a nation is built, if it is even that,” Dr. Hazony writes. “In the end, the decisive factor is the ties of mutual loyalty that have been established among members of a nation in the face of long years of joint hardship and success… We see that the freedoms of the individual guaranteed in England and America are not something that the individual simply has ‘by nature,’ but are, on the contrary, the result of an intricate machinery developed through many centuries of trial and error.”
Hazony seems to understand RIGHTS VS DUTIES much more clearly than the usual "conservative". It's especially good to see this review on a website that often publishes the "rights" nonsense that Hazony dismisses.

But the author of the review misses one big point:
But the United States did end slavery precisely because of the core political principles and values of the English tribes that founded it could not tolerate such an institution within its borders forever.
Nope. Britain and USA ended agrarian slavery because it competed with industrial slavery. In Britain the switchover happened without war. In USA the change was accomplished by a woke "social movement" directly funded and organized by industrialists. The "social movement" quickly generated the war that NYC wanted.

Russia got rid of agrarian slavery without instantly replacing it by industrial slavery. The tsar bought out the owners of serfs and split up the land among the serfs. The MUTUAL LOYALTY inherent in agrarian slavery continued. The Soviet system continued it with collective farms, and extended the same MUTUAL LOYALTY to industrial employment.

  Not better

In general the 'alternative' social networks are false flags intended to gather dissidents for easier identification.

For amusement I tried to join Parler, which claims to respect privacy more than Facebook does.

Nope. Parler wouldn't even let me create an account unless I have a mobile phone. Facebook has a sort of second-class citizenship for non-cellphoners. You can read and write, but you can't use a pseudonym and can't write some kinds of links.

Parler requires a cellphone for entry, which is LESS respectful of privacy than FB.

Just another fucking faker.

= = = = =

Later: The idea of false flags reminded me of something I'd animated recently.

The precipitator.

The generator provides positive and negative charges. Positive ions migrate to the negatively charged comb, and negative ions migrate to the positive comb. Both types are then stuck to the respective combs (parties), where they can be manipulated or discarded in a single clump.

  Stupid myth 2

An earlier and smarter comment on polls and surveys, from 2015.

= = = = = START REPRINT:

If you really want to know what people are thinking, ignore polls and surveys and "elections". Polls and "elections" are explicitly and comprehensively designed to give NO CHOICE at all. The correct answer is never among the survey choices, nor among the candidates. A poll or "election" will never reach a conclusion outside the lines of the official game.

Instead, pay attention to situations where people are both OBLIGED and ALLOWED to make a real decision. This includes three categories. Juries, big-money purchases, and church choices.

Juries make serious decisions, and jurors are ALLOWED to choose. They consistently give CORRECT ANSWERS that STRONGLY oppose the official game. In the biggest cases, ACLU devils or Federal black-robed satans will overturn the jury-generated sanity, but that's fairly rare. It takes a lot of work, so it's not worth the trouble for every criminal or lawsuit.

Big-money decisions like house purchases and college choices are equally serious and equally ALLOWED. Die-Versity laws try to eliminate these choices, but it doesn't work. You can't FORCE a buyer to pick a house in a bad neighborhood, and you can't FORCE a parent to choose a bad college.

Nice recent example of the latter: College departments of evil are losing money as parents and students decide to stop paying for evil.

Churches are another situation where people have REAL choices and are ALLOWED to choose. When your church switches to Satan's side, nobody forces you to stay. So actual Christians go away. Then the Satan-infested church either fades or becomes a vacant zombie dependent on funding from Church Headquarters in NYC.

= = = = = END REPRINT.

Self-calibrating: Seems like I was especially sharp in 2015. When I go back to find earlier and better thoughts, 2015 is usually the optimum. Why? Maybe because 2016 was the start of all-consuming craziness all over Deepstate territory, from Brexit to Pied Piper Trump. Since 2016, and ESPECIALLY this year, I've been trying to minimize the crazy inputs and find truth independently. It's a lot harder to process reality in an Ongoing Fake Urgent Panic, which is the whole point and purpose of Ongoing Fake Urgent Panics. I was completely knocked over and taken in by the 9/11 fake panic, and I was deeply stupid for several years thereafter. In 2010 I threw out the TV and started to regain clear thinking. By 2015 I was ready for the 2016 and 2020 fake panics, but readiness doesn't help entirely.

When ABSOLUTELY EVERY SOURCE parrots the same official poison, you can't entirely avoid it by turning off the radio and TV. The public address systems in buses and stores are screeching the poison. When you look at the bank's website to check account balances, poison screeches from the popups.

In the era of modern media, this situation happened only once before, in 1918 under Wilson. Because most Americans are part German, and most American businesses and colleges had close connections with Germany, Wilson had to FORCE the war propaganda through every outlet. Without TOTAL SCREECH, most Americans would have retained sanity and asked why we suddenly needed to jump into a war against our relatives and business partners who had never attacked us. Germany was mostly attacking France, which had generally been our enemy.

At the same time we were invading and occupying Russia, working WITH the German side. If Americans had known this, they would have asked even deeper questions. Wilson's propaganda worked perfectly to memoryhole this war, which is STILL completely unknown and unmentioned in history and media.

  Equipoise can't be simulated

Returning to an old gripe. AI types intentionally misunderstand this point, and even the anti-AI folks don't fully get it.

Aside from bigger questions of soul and consciousness, it's just plain PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for software to imitate even the SIMPLEST nervous system. This applies to everything from jellyfish to humans.

Early efforts at cybernetics, especially in Russia, did understand this point, and would have made more progress if they hadn't been shoved aside by the digitalists.

Negative feedback and balance are INCURABLY ANALOG. All nervous systems are based on negative feedback and differential input. Equipoise. Feedback acts INSTANTLY, and the total function of the circuit depends on the feedback in a way that can't possibly be factored out mathematically or softwarically. Software always acts in steps of time, so the effect of the error signal can never be continuous and simultaneous.

Here's a neat example of a HUGE simulated neuron, built in 1965 by government scientists who understood equipoise.

This is a tiltmeter measuring the tilt of a large stretch of land in Colorado, in an attempt to monitor and predict earthquakes. The sides are 200 feet apart.

Detail of each side.

Intrinsic equipoise, built with water instead of levers or tubes or transistors. Balanced and differential all the way to the pen.

Note that the output is an analog decision, typical of real brain and mind. The researchers could instantly see and 'feel' the changes.

Since the development of GPS and lasers, we no longer do differential measurement. We take the current height of each datum, then process the difference mathematically. This gives more nominally precise answers, but it's subject to all sorts of interference, and depends on all sorts of systems that aren't under the control of the researchers. A hacked GPS system or a badly coded program can give wrong results with no way of knowing that the results are wrong.

Later thought: A few of the modern cybernetics types still understand the point and try to work in analog mode, but they don't get the grants. The grants and corporate support go to digital. Apply Polistra's Law of Intent, and presume that the OBSERVED RESULTS are what Deepstate WANTS. They're never clueless. They WANT to have a failed simulation instead of a functional simulation, because they DON'T want real intelligence anywhere. Meat objects are not allowed to use real intelligence, and electronic objects are not built to use real intelligence.

  Revisiting guess

Now that the D puppet has "won" the "election", replacing the R puppet, I'll sort of halfway watch for my prediction in May:

= = = = =

Replacing the puppet in the White House wouldn't change the behavior of the Federal dysgovernment. Biden puppet and Trump puppet are identical passive mechanisms controlled by the same Master. But it would definitely change the actions of the governors and the media.

The holocauster governors are driven by infinitely evil bloodlust, but they are also driven by a specific hatred of Deplorables. In their cranial cavities Trump represents Deplorables, so he must be removed. Removing him would relieve some of the pressure in those alien cavities.

For damn sure electing Biden would solve the media end of the holocaust, immediately and completely. The media aren't in direct control of the ovens and gas chambers, but they are providing the fuel and the torches. If Biden was in the White House, the media WOULDN'T HAVE ANY MOTIVATION to continue killing millions of Americans. They would want their team to succeed. The Branded Witch Flu would instantly be treated as just another ordinary annual flu season, which would accidentally agree with fucking reality.

= = = = =

A lot of new monstrous evil has been added since May, but I still think the general direction of the guess is right. The media will calm down, which will make it possible for some of the less crazed demons to calm down. We shall see.

Incidentally, not that it matters, I didn't "vote" for either of the puppets. I "voted" for sane candidates in a sane state, Mack and Babs of Tennessee.

  Planned is not forced

Halfway extending from previous item about COBOL.

In the '50s, fashionable public intellectuals like Vance Packard railed against Planned Obsolescence. They had a point.

BUT: Planned Obsolescence wasn't really obsolescence. When GM changed its styling every year, the previous models were still perfectly usable. The '56 style didn't FORCE YOU TO THROW AWAY the '55 Chevy, and didn't FORCE YOU TO THROW AWAY your skills. You could drive the new '56 on the same roads, and you could use the same driving skills you'd mastered by experience. This was simply a manipulation of the human desire for status, and you didn't NEED to go along with it.

In '59 both GM and Ford came somewhat closer to the modern Github tendency when they made the low-priced models much longer and lower and wider. New cars were suddenly harder to fit into EXISTING parking places and garages, and harder to maneuver in traffic. Some city parking structures had to turn away '59 Caddies.

And there's the real difference. In '59 the public was not conditioned to constant change, and rebelled against the attempt to force change. The parking structures didn't tear down and rebuild, they prohibited the new.

Detroit realized its mistake immediately BECAUSE IT HAD TO. Detroit started making smaller cars AGAIN in '60. The official history claims that Detroit was answering VW, but as usual that's a lie. The new compacts had the same size and weight and power as Rambler, not the same size and weight and power as VW. Rambler is uncool, so we can't mention it in our official histories. Then in '61 and '62 Detroit made an even better correction with the "intermediates", which were the same size as '55 big cars. The too-big cars were still selling to people who wanted status more than transportation, but there was no AGGRESSIVE FORCE behind them.

  COBOL as icon

The Github/Room 101 mindset is the deep terminal disease of recent times. It's a major instance of the psychopathic need to obliterate the universe.

This part of the urge is always present in psychopaths, and it was accurately recognized in earlier times.

Quora's programming language section has some discussions about COBOL that illustrate the distinction beautifully. When I hit Quora just now to find examples, the very first item turned out to be a perfect Self-Explanatory Sentence.....

Question:

Are there any old programming languages that are still in use?

Answer:

FORTRAN (63 years), COBOL (60 years), BASIC (56 years), C (48 years), SQL (42 years), C++ (35 years), Objective-C (32 years), Python (29 years), and Java (25 years) are all fairly old and still used (though COBOL is pretty specialized legacy code today). The first three are older than I am.
COBOL is specialized legacy code / Older than I am.

Self-explanatory sentence.

This is the Github view. Old shit is specialized legacy shit and you shouldn't be using it, and we will PROHIBIT YOU FROM USING IT. Any attempt to use tools or thinking from the filthy Neanderthal knuckle-dragging previous femtosecond will halt your life and crash your computer.

In the Github world, the PURPOSE of programming is to spend 100% of your mental time relearning, and 100% of your computer's CPU time processing updates. Windows 10 implements this purpose perfectly.

What is the original intended purpose of a TOOL like computers? The real purpose of any TOOL is to help you GET WORK DONE.

Fortunately the GET WORK DONE side is also well represented in Quora, by older WORKERS and even some younger WORKERS in places like Brazil.

Reality: In the world of computers that DO WORK, most of the WORK is done by COBOL. The part of the computing world that is truly needed, the part that would completely collapse the whole economy if it failed, is COBOL.

To a first approximation, computing = COBOL.

And there's a simple reason, which I didn't understand until I started reading these discussions. I'm older than COBOL but I didn't start programming until 1983, and I didn't start in the world of commerce. I started in audio processing, first with 8086 and PDP-11 assembly, then Basic, then C.

Simple reason:

COBOL handles money naturally and intrinsically.

The newer languages, including FORTRAN, all start from a theoretical math view of numbers where floating-point arithmetic is the base.

Digital computers are counters and sorters, not slide rules or theoretical equations on blackboards. Our stupid official history starts with Babbage, who was actually a dead end. Nothing came from Ada except some modern rebuilt legends. The real history of computing starts with Hollerith's counter and sorter, and the real history of programming starts with IBM mainframes counting and sorting money, programmed first in machine codes then soon in COBOL. IBM is uncool, so we can't mention it in our official histories.

Money doesn't use floating point. Money is naturally columnar. I've discussed this in the context of ancient bookkeeping:

= = = = = START REPRINT:

A ledger from the store that was outfitting fur traders in the Louisiana Territory around 1812. It's in French, with some plain English. Deeply fascinating to an old bookkeeper. I'm sure real historians have answered all these questions, but I'm having fun trying to solve them.

Title on first page:

La Compagny des Fourures du Missoury dans son Avanture.

Here's the top few lines of an account for trader Brice Arnold, showing the ledger structure clearly.

The debit column (Doit) is equipment sold to the fur traders, the credit column (Avoir) is furs bought from the traders. Note the Avoir column is closed out with "Your bill given this day."

The money units are puzzling. The two columns are P and S. My first thought was Poids et Shillings, but it appears that Pesos were the dominant currency in the territory at that time. The S unit is 100ths of the P unit, not 8ths or 20ths. According to online sources, the peso would have been divided into 8 reales at this time, and centavos didn't start until 1863. No firm answer to this question. Was it just US dollars and cents, labeled P and S by tradition?

We have the $ sign on totals, which meant pesos before it meant dollars. One credible explanation of the symbol traces it to a habit of writing an abbreviation for Pesos as a big P with a little s as a diacritic on top. These clerks were precise with their pens, and their dollar sign always had a big belly and a little head. You can almost see a big P with a little s riding on it. They clearly weren't thinking of the whole symbol as an S with lines through it; their uppercase S is entirely different.

Note the marks after each number. Decimal points? Nope, ditto marks. The clerk meticulously repeated the ditto after each number in each column, indicating that all the left numbers were P and all the right numbers were S.

Columnar accounting belongs to the Roman era, not to the modern place-value era. Monetary units were mostly non-decimal, so the tradition of recording each unit in its own independent column made sense, and there was no reason for decimal points. Note that some of the S numbers are followed by fractions, which was still common in US pricing up till WW2 when inflation made fractional cents meaningless.

= = = = = END REPRINT.

Units are not floating point. Fractions are not floating point. Many fractions can't be represented uniquely and cleanly in floating point. A ledger with the proper set of columns corresponding to units can always represent the fractions that people actually use.

The human brain has separate processing systems for analog continua and countable units. We use both in business for different purposes.

The analog side judges the quality and status of different products with the help of senses and muscles. For products that are actually used, like the whiskey and gunpowder and furs in the example, we judge by using and working. We compare one whiskey with another in a totally analog way, leading to an analog decision. You prefer Jack Daniels, but you'll take Old Crow if Jack isn't around. There is no binary step anywhere.

The counting side works with units, which can be single coins or single banknotes or written columns in the ledger.

These units MUST BE DIGITAL. Paying or billing an analog amount is physically impossible and legally meaningless. Decimal currencies hide this fact by eliminating irrational fractions, but through history most currency systems included irrational fractions. In the LSD system, a bill for 5 pence would be 5/12 of 1/20 of a pound, expressed in floating as 0.02083333unending pounds. If we write the bill this way, there's no way to determine whether it was paid properly or not. But if we have a column for pence, we can bill or pay 5 pence and know precisely whether the debt is satisfied.

= = = = =

Later: I installed one of the COBOL compilers for Windows and started learning to use COBOL. This is fun! The more I see how COBOL works, the more I wish I'd tried it in college back in 1967. I'm a natural bookkeeper, not a natural theoretical mathematician. COBOL would have been instantly pleasing to my clerical genes. FORTRAN was always frustrating because I couldn't see the purpose of the examples.

  Another tide receding? Or advancing?

This is SIGNIFICANT, at least on the verbal level.

Last week Public Death Officer Lutz was fired for unknown reasons. Officials wouldn't comment. Some FB rumors imply that he was fired for sexual harassment, but astonishingly "Mayor" Woodward has suddenly decided to express discontent with the current situation.

Here's part of a statement from "Mayor" Woodward:

It's not clear what she means by a different approach, but at least she's expressing some form of opposition to the current approach. Any break in total silence is sort of refreshing. Most likely she wants total slaughter and nuclear carpet-bombing, so I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Hope is the worst poison in the world.

A few months ago there were leaks in various places hinting that the demons were waiting for the "election" to make changes. Those leaks didn't specify which way the changes would go. Now that the D puppet seems to have been "elected" instead of the R puppet, changes in both directions are starting to pop up, so the total picture is still completely meaningless and senseless. Overall the sane states in Dixie are remaining solidly sane, and that's the only visible constant.

  One tide receding?

There's a nascent shift in the latest push to eliminate all human skills.

The war between automation and real skills has been going on for 300 years, so the pattern isn't new. Ask Ned Ludd and John Henry.

The latest push involves AI, which has always been a hoax. Many of the tech monsters, from Bezos to Elon, insisted that AI was fully capable of replacing all human activity.

They tried to replace seemingly routine tasks with AI-enhanced robots, and failed.

Elon actually learned a lesson from his failure, and since then has been trying to preach the opposite. Good for him. Learning is extinct in this country, especially in the Share Value world.

MindMatters reports that WalMart has learned the lesson as well. WalMart hoped to replace stockers and janitors with robots, and has now given up the attempt.

Basic fact: Automation simply can't replace tasks that require perception. Automation has ALWAYS replaced humans in a few broad categories of tasks. Heavy lifting and long-distance transport were solved by horses, then winches and trucks. Mindless repetition was solved by printing presses and looms and spot-welders.

Some of these, like the looms and spot-welders, are fairly delicate and complex, but don't require intelligence beyond simple calculating or sequencing logic. These replacements began around 1800 and were optimal by 1970. All attempts to extend them with fancier computers have failed, and will continue to fail.

EXPERIENCE SURVIVES. THEORY KILLS.

  Stupid myth

This year as in 2016 there's some pointless "analysis" of why polls went wrong. The "analysis" won't change anything and isn't meant to change anything, just as "elections" aren't meant to change anything.

Expecting a poll to measure opinion is stupid. In general pollsters are paid to MAKE opinion, not to MEASURE opinion. One company or one party pays the pollster to create the impression that everyone shares one particular opinion. This shared opinion doesn't always agree with the company or party; sometimes the poll is designed to cause a rebellion against the "shared" view that will benefit the company or candidate. The other guy is winning! We need more funds so we can campaign harder!

There are some notable exceptions to this rule. Pew conducts several long-standing annual surveys of religion and opinion that ask the exact same questions every year. These surveys are more likely to measure opinion, though there's still room for altering the measurement by changes in sampling procedure.

Measurement ALWAYS requires a fixed standard that remains the same forever, and a fixed set of tools and methods that remain the same forever. When you redefine the standard, like the "social" "science" redefinitions of autism or the "virus" redefinitions of cases and immunity, you are NOT MEASURING ANYTHING AT ALL. You are making and implementing policy through the back door.

  Culp still hasn't converged

I knew he wouldn't be allowed to "win" the "election", but Culp still hasn't collapsed. On his FB page today he offers a calm philosophical discussion of the Warrior Spirit, or in other words plain old stubbornness.

Survival requires a firm desire to survive. Tardigrades have mastered the art. When conditions are impossible, figure out how to work around the conditions.

On a higher level, survival also requires maintaining culture and SKILLS and religion, in whatever form.

Russians never lost culture or SKILLS or religion. Lenin tried to steal their culture but continued developing their SKILLS. The later invasion of NYC Deepstate under Yeltsin allowed culture but tried to steal SKILLS. Neither of the thefts succeeded. Russians kept their SKILLS and their culture and their religion.

USA is in worse shape because we allowed our SKILLS to be offshored along with our culture. We allowed our education to be totally theoretical, which made it easy for the culture-killers to replace one theory with another theory at a Github pace. We allowed all of our life and thinking to be disconnected from senses and muscles.

Having a firm leader to serve as a beacon is helpful, but firm leaders are vanishingly rare. Most of the time we need to be our own beacons, finding a fixed reference point in Nature or religion and keeping our lens focused on the reference point.

= = = = =

Returning to the original point: I'd rather see Culp start a government in exile like DeGaulle in WW2, or a Shadow Cabinet like the British system. Let people see the alternate universe. Let them see what they're missing. Give mayors and police chiefs an alternate pole to gather around and precipitate.

Litigating a hopeless cause is a total waste of survival energy. The "courts" will never do anything less than maximal evil. Even when "courts" play a cruel prank and write a fake "decision" contrary to the will of a demonic governor, the demon simply ignores the "decision". This has happened repeatedly, not just in the "virus" holocaust. But I'm not Culp, so my choice doesn't matter.

  First serious opposition in Britain

There's still no opposition to the holocaust in the US Federal government. Trump started it, Biden promises to continue it. That's not opposition by any definition.

In Britain it was already Kristallnacht Klear that Boris wanted Brexit so he would be free to obliterate the country. Since getting Brexit he has been killing the country FAST.

For the first time a major opponent has spoken out clearly and firmly in Parliament against Lockdown #58312279. Who? Theresa May. The accidental politician who ended up leading the party weakly and reluctantly toward Brexit, until Boris grabbed the reins and got his holocaust license.

NOW I SEE why May was reluctant. She obviously knew what Boris had in mind.

From the Lockdown Sceptics website:
Just 39 MPs voted against the lockdown. 34 were Tory rebels voting against the Government.

The 90 minute debate saw MPs lay mercilessly into the Government’s handling of the epidemic. These MPs at least did not let us down.

One of the surprise heroes of the debate was Theresa May, who has become quite the hardened sceptic (though oddly she then abstained in the vote). As she stood up Boris actually walked out of the Commons (watch here), to audible surprise from MPs. May just shrugged and carried on.

She said the prediction of 4,000 deaths a day “was wrong before it was even used”. We need proper analyses, she said. “We need to know the details behind these models. We need to be able to assess the validity of those models.”

She raised concerns about a lack of data on the costs of lockdown, including on mental health, domestic abuse, non-Covid treatments, “possibly more suicides” and to the economy: “Jobs lost, livelihoods shattered, businesses failing, whole sectors damaged. What sort of airline industry are we going to have coming out of this? What sort of hospitality sector? What sort of small independent shops will be left?” After watching her performance, you couldn’t help but wonder if we would have been better off during this crisis if she’d been in charge.
Bravo. I was EXTREMELY WRONG about both May and Boris for several years, and I should DEEPLY APOLOGIZE to May for getting everything wrong.

  Reprint on Pointland

Previous item about Trump as president of Trump reminded me of something. Reprint with a couple of obvious added words.

= = = = = START REPRINT FROM 2015:

Nature is walls.

Modern satans break all walls, all boundaries.

What is the strictest and most unbreakable boundary of all, the highest wall?

Time.

There is no way to break out of the current moment. We're always stuck in it.

Our dear satans still can't break this one but they keep trying. They constantly violate a proper understanding of time, and Nature fights back.

Satans try to spread out the current moment to infinity in both directions.

We have delusional dysunderstandings of everything. Crime, genes, gender, economics, physics, MEDICINE, everything is exactly wrong. We might be able to learn just how perfectly wrong we are by comparing with previous periods when humans got most of these things right. We might be able to read the lab notebook of human experimentation in the Old Testament.

But we aren't allowed to do that. We must simply treat all previous eras, up to [Current picosecond - 1], as

We either blot them out entirely or assume that the sane people of earlier periods were Unenlightened Barbarians. We find the rare idiots who suffered from modern-style brain disease, and we call them Pioneers or Prophets. We blame the sane people of previous eras for punishing or ignoring Our Prophets.

If we had a little more empathy, a little more understanding of The Other, we might be able to draw proper conclusions about our current behavior. We might be able to see that our current behavior has failed every time it was tried. Again, this applies to all realms of behavior. Religion, government, economics, family life, MEDICINE.

Because we can't see The Other in 300 AD or 1500 or 1860 or even fucking YESTERDAY, we have no feedback mechanism. We only see ME ME ME NOW NOW NOW. We aren't able to adjust our behavior to avoid disaster. Like Gulliver's Laputans or The Monarch Of Pointland, we are tightly locked inside our little bubble of pure delusion. We have built a WALL between us and reality. We think THIS wall, unlike all the walls we joyfully smash, is impenetrable. Nature knows better.

= = = = =

Footnote on ME ME ME NOW NOW NOW: The spatial side of this infantile sprawl, the ME ME ME part, is expressed best by Neocons and Exceptionalism. I've discussed this many times.

  Simple observation

Trump is immediately suing several states about their handling of ballots.

For the last four years Trump NEVER sued a state or a governor. He occasionally pretended that he wanted to sue sanctuary cities, but never actually sued or even defunded them. He didn't bother to pretend when 48 of the 50 governors committed the largest crime in history, imprisoning and binding and gagging citizens for no reason at all. He did nothing when governors and mayors encouraged permanent riots, even when the riots were aimed at Federal facilities.

Now he sues instantly without even threatening.

Easy conclusion: Trump is the president of Trump. His sole reason for holding power is to hold power. Anything that threatens his continued hold on power will be sued down to bedrock.

Other stuff, like smashing and burning and killing the whole country, is irrelevant to Trump because it doesn't threaten his PERSONAL POWER.

  Aphid Day 2020

Nov 4: Edited and re-dated! The aphids were right after all. Today they are SERIOUSLY swarming. Temp has reached 60, which isn't especially warm, but they were clearly waiting for today.

= = = = =

(Originally posted Oct 8) I'm going to tentatively declare today, Oct 8, as Aphid Day. The swarm isn't really up to official ISO Swarm QC Standards. In the good years, I have to wash my face immediately to get rid of the coating of dead insects. Today the swarm is visible and I had to bat them away from my eyes a few times. Weak but we'll give it an Aphid Self-Esteem Grade, pending likely improvement. The Weather Bureau thinks we're done with warm days, but I'm more inclined to believe the aphids.

= = = = =

[This is the eleventh time I've noted it here. Aphid Day in 2010 was the first of Oct, in 2011 it was the end of Oct, in 2012 the first of Oct, in 2013 the last part of Oct, in 2014 (with an actual picture) the end of Sept, in 2015 end of Sept, in 2016 end of Sept, in 2017 near end of Oct, in 2018 around mid Oct, in 2019 around mid Oct., and now in 2020 early Nov. ]

= = = = = BELOW HERE IS REPRINT of the original.

Every year in Spokane the end of summer is marked by the swarming of tiny white-winged flies.

Insects don't waste much time in adulthood; lots of bugs live several years as larvae and only a few days as adults.

These flies take it to an extreme. Adults are minimally equipped to get in the air and reproduce. They don't have as much brain power as other flies, nor do they have hard shells. Instead of flying purposefully, they drift with the wind like seeds, and die as soon as they bump into anything even at near-zero drifting speed. Result: for a couple of days, your face and clothes are covered with semi-liquid insects.

Despite their lack of navigation, they must have some kind of superior instinct or 'community intelligence', because picking the last warm day is much harder than picking the first warm day of spring. Termites and ants don't need to calculate their swarming day; they only need a simple neuron to detect when temperature rises past a certain threshold, plus an emitted pheromone to trigger the avalanche.

But how do these flies determine that today is not just warm, but the last warmth for their generation? They must be sensing something besides temperature.

At any rate, they serve as a reliable sign for us, even if our supercomputers can't match their calculations.

Polistra has put it into folk-wisdom format:

White flies swarming, no more warming.

= = = = =

[Artistic note: the swarm in the animation turned out nicely, but Polistra's head looks steroid-swollen and South-Park-ish for unknown reasons. Maybe she's allergic to the bugs.]

[Technical note: According to some sources, these bugs are smoky-winged ash aphids, Prociphilus americanus.]

  Real science from Belarus

Last week I got twitchy, trying to read tea leaves and entrails. False idiotic alarm. Lukashenko is unquestionably holding firm.

Best of all, Belarus has just connected its new nuclear power plant to the grid, after about 8 years of careful construction and one year of testing.

China and Russia have been adding new REAL nukes in the last few years. The most recent new operational nuke in USA was Watts Bar in North Carolina, an additional reactor on an existing site. (And a nice aptronym.) This happened quietly in 2016, after a decade of pure destruction.

Later: Well, maybe there's reason for twitchiness after all. Lukashenko seems to be wavering on the "virus" after holding perfectly steady and normal for 8 months. Still hard to determine, still remains to be seen.

  Silly sci-fi

Speaking of IS vs COULD in science...

The IDers at Evolution News are arguing with a Darwinian named Helen Hansma.

Hansma is proposing the silliest and couldiest idea I've ever heard. It builds on several favorite axioms of the modern Darwinians and adds a completely impossible physical supposition.

She proposes that life developed from non-life in mica sheets underwater. Apparently there's a way to use layers of mica to 'pump up' energy, and the modern Darwinians always base everything on energy consumption.
Professor Hansma pioneered the origins model postulating that the motion of mica sheets along the ocean floor could have driven chemical reactions energetically uphill, resulting in higher-energy molecules. In her letter, she challenges my evaluation of the power limitations on “natural engines” by asserting that the mechanical energy of the mica sheets could have provided sufficient energy to sustain some pathway to the first cell.
In the obvious first fucking place, life is the exact opposite of energy efficiency. Life is the most extravagantly ANTIefficient process of all, when measured simply as energy input vs energy output.

Second, the boundary between life and non-life is a boundary between ORDER and CHAOS, not a border between higher and lower energy. Organization is a completely distinct variable that can't be measured. (Entropy and information are narrowly defined 'examples' of organization, not basic measures.)

Third, mica sheets don't float around in the ocean. Mica is formed as part of igneous rock under extreme pressure, something like diamonds. There's no natural process that would separate it, and it's not found in the oceans now.

Mica is a wonderful material. It's beautiful in a gem-like way, with translucent depths and pearlescent reflections. It was widely familiar 80 years ago. Stoves and furnaces used mica for windows to see whether the flame is lit, and it was a major part of vacuum tubes and capacitors before 1970. It's a nearly perfect insulator for both heat and electricity, so it was the ideal material for 'framing' in vacuum tubes and for dielectrics in capacitors.

I couldn't find any decent pics online so I made one.

This doesn't capture the unique reflection/refraction of mica, but at least it shows how the mica was used in tubes.

Unlike gems, mica is fragile. It crumbles easily. You don't want to bend it much. In stoves and tubes and capacitors the mica was mounted to avoid bending.

Fourth, there are several ways of 'pumping up' energy that involve capacitance. Mica is an excellent dielectric, but it doesn't naturally 'pump up' energy unless it has been formed into the dielectric of a capacitor, and even then the mica isn't the pumper. The entire complex circuit is the pumper. What's worse, these pumps don't give you extra energy. They just trade amps for volts, like a lever trading force for distance, and there's inevitably some loss in the process.

Mechanical energy between the sliding sheets? This is wordsalad. If there's enough wave action to slide the sheets around, they will crumble in a few minutes and won't be sheets any longer.

Even if this pumping could raise the energy of chemical reactions (how????), it wouldn't last long enough in one piece to evolve and naturally select.

This idea belongs with perpetual motion. It sounds plausible if you've never dealt with the real thing, but anyone who has worked with actual mica knows it's impossible.

Small Happy Ending: Mica is still used and sold for windows in various kinds of heaters.

  Brilliant flip

A Quora answer on the subject of Dvorak keyboards contains a sharp insight. The usual view of QWERTY is that Sholes developed the arrangement to slow down typists so they wouldn't tangle the keys.

When I was "building" the original Sholes and comparing it to Hammond, I followed the usual view.

The Hammond keyboard was arranged appropriately for letter frequency, not QWERTY. Sholes and Glidden used QWERTY to avoid key collisions, but key collisions remained common on Remington-style machines. Key collisions were physically impossible on the Hammond, so there was no reason to sort the keys peculiarly. Your right fingers had the vowels and more common consonants, and your left fingers had the rest.

The Quora commenter simply turned the causation around.

Sholes avoided key collisions so typists could type faster.

Brilliant. Agrees with experience. Colliding hammers slowed you down tremendously because you had to stop, reach into the inner workings, and pull the hammers apart, getting your fingers inky. Less collisions meant less stoppages and less inky.

Most of the commenters are correct on the basic question of adopting Dvorak. For the fingers themselves, there's no meaningful difference between arrangements. Humans can adapt well enough to different forms of a tool, as long as the tool is STABLE. Switching to Dvorak would destabilize the SKILLS and destroy the SKILLS.

A more important inconvenience on the usual computer keyboard is the parts that were added for the computer. The standard keyboard puts WAY too much load on the little fingers, which tend to make about 50% of all the strokes; and doesn't give the thumbs any extra work.

  Hell continues unabated

Unsurprisingly, Mad Bomber Inslee will continue to kill and kill and kill for four more years.

At least Culp put up a solid and consistent opposition, unwavering to the end. Unlike other "independents", he never converged to Satan.

The federal "election" seems to be undetermined at the moment, but if the trends are proper, we'll continue with another four years of hell there.

I was hoping for the D puppet to "win" the federal level. Nothing would change in fed actions, but the D puppet would cause the media demons and the riot demons to calm down. With less pressure from media demons, some of the imperfectly demonic governors would be able to fade toward 95% hell.

False hope is bad for sanity. When stuck in medieval hell, it's better to stick with medieval attitudes and prison attitudes. Back to the plow.

Putting it another way, I should practice what I preach. Carver as always.

Look about you.
Take hold of the things that are here.
Talk to them.
Let them talk to you.

Science is supposed to be about the things that are here, not the unthings we imagine. You can't hold onto an unthing, and you can't use it for food or shelter. All you can do with an unthing is waste time and energy.

  More Github grumping

Random Github thoughts after struggling with the latest major update of Poser.

Their developers switched to using the latest version of Python for scripting. There's nothing new in Python that could possibly be needed. The change was purely motivated by Github fashion.

This change basically destroys all existing tools for Poser, because they will require heavy rewriting. I've got a thousand of these tools, some used constantly, all used occasionally, for play and courseware development.

Seems like there should be a business opportunity for anti-Github programs. The 'open source' world almost entirely goes the other way, toward maximum rapid change.

Basic fact: People who actually use tools, whether the tools are hammers or programs, need to have STABLE tools. A hammer that changes its shape every month, requiring a new type of nails every month, will ruin the carpenter's coordination and speed. A text editor** or operating system or graphic app that changes every month requires you to spend all your time relearning instead of working.

This is just another form of psychopathic aggression. Psychopaths destroy PURPOSE and STABILITY above all.

Carpenters have an advantage because their hammers and saws (so far) aren't web-connected. The hammer doesn't "phone home" every millisecond to check the server for updates, and doesn't turn itself off when your subscription to the hammering service expires, or when the house you're building disagrees with the architectural or political tastes of the hammering service.

There should be money in a STABLE source of software.

This would be another function of the new Trinity House in my dreams, the anti-Parkinson pro-PURPOSE pro-SKILL pro-SCIENCE crowdfunded foundation.

= = = = =

** Text editor: I'm eternally grateful to the developers of Kedit, the text editor I've been using since 1987. They updated it from DOS to Windows, and then basically stopped. They never switched to subscription or cloud mode. It's still possible to order Kedit, and it still works. I've tried all the alleged alternatives, and nothing else does the same job. I would be HAPPY to pay an annual subscription fee for Kedit, to GUARANTEE that it NEVER changes. But the developers don't want money. They're missing an opportunity.

The man who enjoys parallel parking

Parallel parking is rare in recent decades since shopping malls pulled most stores away from downtowns. Avoiding parallel was one of the drawing cards for malls.

During the years when I was driving regularly, I probably parallel parked three times, and two of those times were on the drivers license exams. There's almost always a way to avoid parallel if you're willing to walk a bit, and I've always preferred walking over driving.

On my noon walks, two days in a row, I've seen the same driver parallel parking here in the neighborhood. This is a fairly quiet residential area. The place where he parked was between two cars on a mostly empty block. The opposite side was entirely empty. He could avoid the parallel by walking 20 extra steps, or crossing a street with little traffic.

The parallel move (backing into the place at an angle) is salient, so it caught my attention both times.

  More irrelevant auto trivia

Chrysler had a long-standing habit of designing and tooling brand-distinct parts that didn't look different. You had to be a serious car fan to notice. Sometimes you had to compare cars side-by-side to see the difference. Why bother?

GM never made this mistake. Sloan and Earl understood how status works. When GM went to the trouble of tooling up a different part, it LOOKED different. You could tell without a microscope, and you could also tell which version had higher status. This makes perfect sense. If you're going to spend money on a change, it should cause the customer to spend more money to gain more status.

But Chrysler was smarter than GM or Ford just once.

Their Canadian rebadge of Dodge trucks was Fargo.

Same number of letters, so the two could use the same dies for badges, and use the same hole-drilling jigs for separate chrome letters. The separate letters could reuse the G and O.

GM already had Chevrolet and GMC trucks before it expanded into Canada, so it used them as the lower and upper brands in Canada.

Ford rebadged its slightly fancier trucks from Ford to Mercury for Canada. This did have the advantage of visibility; you can see the long name vs short name from a distance; but it wasn't a necessary difference. In the first few years the Mercury trucks were dramatically fancier, so the label didn't need to be noticed.

Ford made the same mistake with Ford / Meteor and Falcon / Frontenac, but it saved money with Mercury / Monarch.

Ford is responsible for the most famous word-length amortization. The Comet was originally planned as the compact for Edsel. When Edsel was killed, a hasty change was needed, and Comet saved money in tooling as well as dealer signs.

  Lodge month

October was Lodge month 'in these columns'. I've added a tag to the related items.

I hadn't paid much attention to Lodge before, even though his name is well known in radio circles for his studies of propagation. That wasn't his central contribution.

His constant focus was on the boundaries and borders between electricity and matter. His coherer made use of a constantly moving and re-forming layer of liquid. The device wasn't practical, but it helped to form a better understanding of modulation and rectification, which then led to the changeover from Morse to music.

His precipitator also applied a static charge to flowing gas and smoke, ionizing and cleaning the flow. This device proved to be powerfully practical, and his sons commercialized it for profit. The precipitator, as improved by Cottrell, is still in use.

Lodge's philosophy was unfashionable in 1906, and even more unfashionable now. Around 1900 the cult of "science" was in its first flush of victory. Deconstructors were everywhere, from religion to biology to math to physics. Purpose was dethroned and replaced by Lord Random.

Lodge, with impeccable credentials as an experimenter AND theorist, discussed the boundary between static spiritual charge and the moving material world. He countered the purpose-killers and psychopaths who were starting to take over the world and now have completely conquered it.
The essence of mind is design and purpose. There are some who deny that there is any design or purpose in the universe at all: but how can that be maintained when humanity itself possesses these attributes? Is it not more reasonable to say that just as we are conscious of the power of guidance in ourselves, so guidance and intelligent control may be an element running through the universe, and may be incorporated even in material things? If we could grasp the entire scheme of things, so far from wishing to shatter it to bits and then remold it nearer to the heart's desire, we should hail it as better and more satisfying than any of our random imaginings.

The universe is in no way limited to our conceptions: it has a reality apart from them; nevertheless they themselves constitute a part of it, and can only take a clear and consistent character insofar as they correspond with something true and real. Whatever we can clearly and consistently conceive, that is ipso facto already existent in the universe as a whole; and that, or something better, we shall find to be a dim foreshadowing of a higher reality.

That is my creed, and, optimistic though it be, it seems to me the only rational creed for a man of science who, undeterred by any accusation of dualism, realizes strongly that our entire selves — our thoughts, conceptions, desires, as well as our perceptions and our acts — are all but parts of one stupendous whole.

LIFE IS PURPOSE.

  Quintessentially British

Vintage.es has a series of pix from a 1966 publicity event. 15 girls crammed into an Austin Mini. Not really amazing in terms of volume; skinny flexible youngsters can fold into tight spaces, and the Mini was surprisingly roomy inside like a Tardis. The amazing part was the weight. A small car is intended to hold 4 people and a little luggage, about 700 pounds. Those 15 average-size girls would weigh close to a ton. The Mini was loaded down but not broken.

What's British? A crowd of men is gathered around the Mini, and none of them are looking at the girls. Some are looking at the car, and most are looking at the other men. One group of men seems to be focused intently on a picture of a man while leaning against the car full of girls.

  Belarus about to surrender?

Hard to tell from the badly translated English in Belta News. From the translations, it sounds like Lukashenko is losing support from his inner circle, and seems to be hinting that he's about to step down.

But he's also cracking down on the Sorosian rebels. No hints there. And various video clips show that the country is still solidly normal, not Mascoid.

I'm hoping the implication is just clumsy translation of Slavic subtlety. There are only two perfectly normal countries in the world, and losing the only one in Euro areas would be tragic.

I shouldn't try to read tea leaves. It's a bad habit even in normal times, and in a crazy world largely ruled by psychopaths, predicting is guaranteed to be wrong. The most important goal of psychopaths is to break the predictive and purposeful functions of human souls by constant rule-changing. Some of the changes are intended to give false hope, some are intended to give false feelings of disaster. The CHANGE itself is the only constant.

11/12: In this case the tea leaves were right. Belarus surrendered. Now the free world is down to Tanzania and Sweden.
