Superdoublethink
This is encouraging and ferociously scary at the same time.
MIT media researchers infiltrated the "virus" data gatherers and watched how they worked.
MIT was shockedshockedshocked to find real science going on in science circles. The report acknowledges straightforwardly that the "virus" data people are using perfectly correct facts and perfectly correct scientific methods. That's the encouraging part.
The anti-maskers’ deep story draws from similar wells of resentment, but adds a particular emphasis on the usurpation of scientific knowledge by a paternalistic, condescending elite that expects intellectual subservience rather than critical thinking from the lay public.
Since the dissenters are the real scientists, should the paternalistic condescending elite switch to real science? Of course not. Real science is "horrifying", their word, and real science leads specifically and exactly to the "violent coup of January 6", their words.
They conclude that the Establishment needs to lie more effectively and faster. They think that CDC's wavering and fast changes of rules made it easier for the "horrifying" real scientists to gain ground.
They're wrong about this, because REAL SCIENCE DOESN'T CHANGE. The most important difference between the real scientists and the holocausters is on the issue of change. Real viruses and real immune systems have been interacting for a billion years. The rules of this interaction have been known consistently and steadily for a hundred years. If there is a real "virus", it is claimed to be the same type of virus as the common cold, which is extremely well understood. All the "measures" of this holocaust had been tried before and INSTANTLY rejected by real public health before 2020.
If this entity requires constantly changing and brand-new "measures" which do not work on viruses, THIS ENTITY IS NOT A VIRUS. IT IS A HOLOCAUST. And it's also a perfect display of
how psychopaths work. Change the rules, demand obedience, change the rules, demand obedience, never let the victim regain balance.
Without the fast change the whole thing would be far less effective.
And without the FIRST change the whole thing wouldn't have happened at all. If the Establishment had continued using the normal rules of public health as determined by 100 years of experience, there wouldn't be anything to write about. Assuming for argument that there was a real virus, hospitals would have ramped up as they always do, the virus would have spread quickly among the UNLOCKED AND UNMUZZLED AND UNDISTANCED population as it always does, 99.9% of the people would have tossed it off and gained immunity without even noticing more than a few sniffles as they always do. NOTHING WOULD HAVE HAPPENED.
The holocaust happened because it was meant to be a holocaust. It was scheduled in advance. All demons in all countries were ready to go into demonic action IN UNISON on March 12. We still know nothing about the preparation and planning and synchronizing.
= = = = =
Later thought: The scariest part is that the MIT monsters are casually calling normal science "unorthodox science".
Flat assertion.
From 1700 to March 2020, every single piece of real science was ORTHODOX. How do you stay healthy? Fresh air, sunlight, exercise, work, keep clean but not obsessively clean, stay happy, get sleep, have contact with people but not promiscuous sex. These rules were universal. These rules were as orthodox as gravity. The monsters flipped every single rule upside down, and now the upside down version is orthodox.
No. No. No. Nature didn't flip. Viruses didn't flip. Immune systems didn't flip. Scientific method didn't flip. Mathematics didn't flip. The only fucking thing that flipped is your DEMONIC MONSTROUS INCALCULABLY EVIL INCOMPREHENSIBLY INSANE HOLOCAUSTAL "MIND".
= = = = =
Later again: I used doublethink in the title but didn't get around to the actual doublethink. Here it is: The MIT demons spent several pages observing ACCURATELY that the skeptics are real scientists, then instantly turned around and concluded the opposite. This is like running a basic physics experiment and recording that objects fall downward, then concluding that objects fall upward.
"I've proved that objects fall downtherefore objects fall up."
The INSTANT and PAUSELESS flip is pure Orwell. It's also
pure Sprenger and Kremer.Labels: constants and constants, endless hell, Jackboot stomping forever, Jail mode
Some odd constants
In engineering and electronics, e and pi tend to show up in many constant patterns, even when the patterns have no obvious relationship to exp curves or circles or sines.
I've been noticing a few odd constants in the auto industry.
1. The market for limos is constant. Not the total market, but the
market for each brand. When a carmaker decides to (more or less) mass produce limos, it can expect to sell 2000 per year. Before 1950, when GM and Chrysler and Packard were all serious about limos, each sold 2k. After Chrysler and Packard retired to occasional handbuilts, Caddy was still selling 2k, not 6k. When Lincoln finally entered the market in '61 with the parade phaeton, it sold 2k.
2. The Ford manopause. Henry had a sudden shift of personality late in life, which writers attribute to a stroke. The same thing happened to Henry's son Edsel, then to Edsel's sons HF2 and William Clay. Each started out as an innovative and sharp manager, then suddenly shifted to a moody recluse who couldn't be bothered with management. The later generations were drinkers, which sometimes accounts for such a change, but Henry Senior was an absolute non-drinker. The shift looks more like a genetic constant.

The value of keeping a daily worklog
I always keep a detailed worklog of real courseware projects and fun graphics projects. Good programming habit. A few years ago I started keeping a worklog for life in general, tracking sleep, dumps, moods, health stuff.
This morning I noticed a blister on the right heel that was starting to bleed. Seemed familiar, so I checked last year's life worklog. Yup, the same blister happened ON THE SAME DAY last year.
Last year I had been walking extra, avoiding one bus trip because I was having vestibular trouble that was sometimes tricky on buses.
This year I've been walking extra, avoiding one bus trip to minimize time under murder mask. I've also been adding a separate 2nd walk every day to burn off the annoyance, which I didn't do last year.
Patterns repeat, and there's a "reason" for the pattern each time. In reality the pattern matters more than the "reason".
Last year I reluctantly stopped the extra walking, took the bus both ways, and the blister healed in a few days.
Cold weather is also a factor in the exact date. Skin gets dry and stiff in cold, and shoes shrink a bit.
EXPERIENCE SURVIVES.... but only if you're able to learn from the experience. A worklog helps the learning.

Not better
In general the 'alternative' social networks are false flags intended to gather dissidents for easier identification.
For amusement I tried to join Parler, which claims to respect privacy more than Facebook does.
Nope. Parler wouldn't even let me create an account unless I have a mobile phone. Facebook has a sort of second-class citizenship for non-cellphoners. You can read and write, but you can't use a pseudonym and can't write some kinds of links.
Parler requires a cellphone for entry, which is LESS respectful of privacy than FB.
Just another fucking faker.
= = = = =
Later: The idea of false flags reminded me of something I'd animated recently.
The precipitator.
The generator provides positive and negative charges.
Positive ions migrate to the negatively charged comb, and negative ions migrate to the positive comb. Both types are then stuck to the respective combs (parties), where they can be manipulated or discarded in a single clump.

Quintessentially British
Vintage.es has a series of pix from a 1966 publicity event. 15 girls crammed into an Austin Mini. Not really amazing in terms of volume; skinny flexible youngsters can fold into tight spaces, and the Mini was surprisingly roomy inside like a Tardis. The amazing part was the weight. A small car is intended to hold 4 people and a little luggage, about
700 pounds. Those 15 average-size girls would weigh close to a ton. The Mini was loaded down but not broken.
What's British? A crowd of men is gathered around the Mini, and none of them are looking at the girls. Some are looking at the car, and most are looking at the other men. One group of men seems to be focused intently on a
picture of a man while leaning against the car full of girls.

From cable to cable
Think modern partisans are idiotic? Think the "cable" "news" is totally preoccupied with soap opera details instead of actions? True but not new.
Searchendipity led to
this peculiar 1832 publication. I was looking for
calculating telegraph. This thing is titled
The American Telegraph and happens to use
calculating several times in the sense of
scheming.
The title is unexpected since electrical telegraphs were just freshly invented in England and unknown here. The word had been coined by Chappe for his mechanical semaphore system. Presumably the word was well enough known here.
It's not about telegraphs or semaphores, it's just a weekly tabloid carrying soap opera shit against Andrew Jackson.
One screenshot:
Soap opera. Dozens of confusing characters involved in dozens of interlocking subplots. Relitigating cold cases. The same lip-smacking prurience you'll hear from MSNBC discussing Trump, or Fox discussing Biden.

Krauss reprint from 2008
UD was advertising a discussion featuring Lawrence Krauss. I hadn't noticed Krauss in a while; apparently he got on the wrong side of the #metoo Karens, but that still doesn't make him any smarter or better.
A long time ago I thought he was worth arguing against.
= = = = = START REPRINT:
I've been arguing with (or more precisely
arguing at) Lawrence Krauss for a while without naming him; he has been writing some truly obnoxious opinion pieces in New Scientist, and I've been responding indirectly.
My quote on the right-hand side in
this post was from Krauss.
Right now Krauss is giving a speech at AEI, broadcast on C-Span, in which he makes the same terrible points. Luckily, some questions are allowed, and luckily the questioners are excellent. It would have been better to format the whole presentation as a debate, with questions after each point, so that Krauss's illogical arguments weren't allowed to stick in the audience's minds.
Krauss (to his credit) backed off in some places, but he stuck to a couple of silly and dangerous arguments, which nobody questioned in the time available.
Krauss began by associating ignorance with totalitarianism. He gave the example of the Taliban destroying important parts of world culture (the ancient Buddhist statues) "because of ignorance", and proceeded from there to state that Americans must understand the BASICS of evolution as taught by the current consensus, in order to avoid totalitarianism.
This is worse than nonsense.
First, the most effective totalitarians were very smart. Hitler and Stalin poured huge amounts of money and emphasis into research and education. German and Russian math and science teaching was -- probably still is -- vastly superior to ours. Modern Russians know more about nearly everything than modern Americans.
Our entire space program depended on scientists educated under Hitler, not on scientists educated in America. Hitler's problem was emphatically
not ignorance.Second, Krauss seems to think that American science and math education is bad because we hesitate to tell students that evolution is an axiom.
It's exactly the other way around.
Our science and math education is awful BECAUSE WE HAVE FOLLOWED the Krauss model: start with a few axioms, build theories, consider the theories to be settled. Ever since the Scopes trial, we have IN FACT been telling students that evolution is the only possible theory, and this hasn't made a damn bit of difference.
Science and math education -- for that matter, science and math in general -- work best when you start with experimentation. Students learn best when they know first why each fact or theory is important. Why did I slip and fall on the ice this morning? Why did the fried egg stick to the pan? Why did the snow hit Spokane instead of Pullman? Why did this resistor burn, while that one over there is nicely cool? How do I know which part of the computer needs to be replaced?
After the students have their motivation, after they feel the frustration and puzzlement of the question, after they know that the answer will help them to live better or earn more money, THEN you can go into the lab and check out the details. And after the details have been discussed and settled, preferably with some (carefully contained) failures to show what doesn't work, THEN you can show the math and theoretical background.
This is how the Russians did it, with great results; yet despite a few good local programs, we still don't teach this way in most schools.
The Taliban way of thinking is destructive because it starts with definite knowledge and proceeds to immediate action. Allahu akbar, therefore we must destroy all evidence of other gods.
Krauss's own mindset is much closer to the Taliban than to science or Christianity. He takes evolution and global warming as unquestioned axioms, from which we must proceed to immediate action.
A good Christian, or a good scientist, is far more humble. "We'll understand it all by and by" is a Christian attitude and a scientific attitude.
= = = = =
Update: It appears that NBC Nightly News will be doing a feature on math teaching, called "Math Wars", Mon 2/18. Dispute is an encouraging sign ... but it would be more encouraging if the CORRECT method, the EXPERIMENTAL method, had been chosen 100 years ago when it was already obvious.
In a backward sort of way, the Kraussites are right about one thing. Good teaching
is actually opposed by conservative and religious factions, but this is
totally unrelated to Darwin. Every respected "conservative" is required to rant for "sticking to the basics" and rant against "progressive" education. Unfortunately "sticking to the basics" always means teaching by memorization of verbal facts, while "progressive" education includes the Montessori methods that work, PLUS a batch of egalitarian ratshit about eliminating competition and eliminating grades.
The correct solution, the Russian solution, is not "the basics", but Montessori PLUS competition and evaluation. Since the correct solution lies outside the rigid chalk lines of each team, it will never be adopted. The "conservatives" will never allow experiential education because it has been dirtied by association with the Left; and the Left will never allow competition because insane egalitarianism is an absolute core belief of the Left, second only to the sacrament of Abortion. I conclude that the teams have drawn the lines this way intentionally, since the one thing our political teams WILL NEVER ALLOW UNDER ANY CONDITIONS IS A CORRECT SOLUTION TO ANY PROBLEM. We must, must, must, must, must, must, continue our pointless repetition of opposing meaningless mantras, while the ship continues to sink with nobody at the helm.

Only one thing has changed since 2008: We're now imitating the Taliban literally instead of metaphorically.

Non-news about non-orders from a non-skeptic
In the distant past, Radio Moscow offered a genuine opposition view. It was naturally self-serving, but it was often correct. Now RT simply runs the same nonsense as any other US media.
Non-news today:
Three major federal agencies have forged ahead with plans to host critical race theory training for their employees, teaching them to "co-resist" and check their white privilege, slides posted by researcher Christopher Rufo show.
The events, scheduled at the State Department, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Veterans’ Administration (VA) in open defiance of a White House memo banning them, are going to deal with “racial equity,” “white fragility” and “microaggressions,” Rufo tweeted on Monday, publishing photos of the training slides he somehow obtained.
Well of course. This is how Trump works.
He issues "orders" that are carefully crafted to be non-orders, allowing the agencies to do what they want. Because the agencies are "opposing" Trump, their actions encourage the murderers and enrage the Deplorables. An enraged Deplorable is easier to identify and slaughter.
For a few weeks after the 2017 inauguration, the bureaucrats walked carefully, more or less obeying Trump's "orders" in case he was serious.
By March 2017 they figured out the trick or received reassurance from Trump. They simply resumed doing what they always do. Enriching Soros and Bezos and killing everyone else.
RT, following the Fox "side" of the puppet script, helps to enrage the Deplorables about the "disloyal" agencies, which are really serving the same master as Trump.
Calibrating: Looking back through March 2017 to re-locate the item about the "climate" bureaucrats, it's clear that I was slower and stupider than the bureaucrats. Even while I marked the end of bureaucratic obedience, I hadn't really figured out the whole trick. I was still holding out hope for some of Trump's cabinet appointments who seemed to be saying the right things. Trump fired them quickly and replaced them with reliable Deepstaters.

One down, but doesn't change the count
The grotesque horrifying alien demon which killed under the fake-human title of "Ruth Bader Ginsburg" has ceased killing.
No point in celebrating. It will be replaced by an identical demon. The replacement will be less grotesque and horrifying, but won't change anything.
The process of replacement will get all the idiot partisans on Side A and Side B excited, eagerly defending Demon A or Demon B, dredging up all sorts of irrelevant information and ideology to claim that A or B will do something "different". In the end the new demon will seamlessly continue killing everyone and obliterating the universe.
Incidentally, I offer my condolences to the heroic cancer cells that voluntarily went beyond the call of duty, sacrificing themselves to destroy the grotesque alien. RIP, cancer cells.

Constants and constants
Following the
Morris model, I try to calibrate
my own thinking, and the thoughts and themes on my own side of an issue.
There have been several Shared Lies or false flags on the skeptical side of the current panic.
The first focused on the 'biowar' origin of the virus. Irrelevant because the virus is irrelevant. The lockdowns are a scheduled event, necessary to kill more Deplorables than the 2008 coup and to enrich The Tribe when the stock bubble inevitably popped.
The next focused on Gates and his goal of worldwide vaccination. Worse than irrelevant because vaccinations work, and forced vaccinations have conquered many viruses. Vaccines are comparatively ineffective against
this particular type of virus, but still better than nothing. Advancing anti-vax propaganda makes it harder to control the viruses where vax is effective, like smallpox and polio and measles.
The next was 5G, which didn't make a lick of sense. 5G is an unnecessary technology with probable health consequences, but this panic wouldn't do anything to advance it.
Now they're assuming that Deepstate is using the panic to force voting by mail.
1. Constant. The states with Thrill Killer psychopathic governors ALREADY vote by mail, so it CAN'T be the goal of the holocaust in those states.
2. Constant. Manweller's Rule. Elections have no function, so the
form of voting is irrelevant.
3. Variable. Even if you assume falsely that elections have a function, voting by mail is NOT helpful to Deepstate. Mail gives you a chance to think about the choices and fill out the ballot carefully. Most important, mail voting can't be ruined by the polling-place games that "both" "sides" play. Eliminating polls in certain neighborhoods, closing early, stationing gangstas with baseball bats to insure correct votes. VASTLY less opportunity for the usual corruption. Counting is still open to corruption, but no worse than the old way.
= = = = =
By contrast, here's a valid and important concern. Dissolving the natural family has been one of Deepstate's goals for 100 years, and Deepstate is intensively using this panic as a sharp weapon to remove kids from nonconforming parents.

Pulling away
A quick peek at RealClearScience shows some of the usual panicators starting to back away from the panic. Pretty good indicator that the lockdowns will be pulling away soon, followed in a few months by the NEXT panic.
The ins and outs are happening faster and faster.
Needless to say, there will never be any "audit" or "accountability" or "justice" or "law". We can gain vicarious satisfaction by grimly imagining a Nuremberg Trial for the holocaust. Not gonna happen. This holocaust is run by the same demons who ran the real Nuremberg Trial, and they sure as fuck aren't going to put themselves in the hot seat. There is
no outside, no auditors, no judges. As always the demons will find a new and SHOCKING way to infinitely enrich themselves and slaughter everyone else.

Consistent
Just noticed one little consistency while trying to avoid listening to shit.
Trump's role in the Branded Swine Flu "terrorist attack" is exactly the same as all other issues.
He always SAYS sane and factual things (comparatively!) and then DOES what Deepstate wants.
This is not accidental or new. His utterances and "orders" are carefully crafted to bring factual and sane people out of the woodwork so the media and Deepstate bullies can knock them down in every possible way.
When facts and sanity are solidly associated with witches, facts are silenced.

Unrelated observation: Macron's version of the shutdown requires everyone to fill out forms before leaving the house, so the Gestapo can check the forms. What happens when the Gestapo handles the form and gives it back to you? STOP AND THINK.
The whole monstrosity is just Security Theater. It's like the "Accept Cookies" clicks and "This connection may be insecure" clicks on the web. Each click is a new opportunity for hackers to intervene. If you are allowed to passively read the website, there's less chance of contagion.

Least surprising political development of the century
The sun rose this morning. Tulsi endorsed Biden this morning.
Nuff said.
If you still think that "politics" and "voting" and "elections" exist, after 220 years of consistent disproof, you are too fucking stupid to breathe.
= = = = =
Later: I'm still thoroughly puzzled by Tulsi's PURPOSE. What was she trying to DO? She got the antiwar viewpoint into a few places where it might not have been heard before, but it was clear
almost from the start that she didn't intend to CHANGE anything. The best ACTION would have been spilling Deepstate's beans, reading out the redacted shit from documents about the Iraq and Afghan wars and 9/11. As a member of Congress she had access to those documents, and she had the legal privilege of reading them into the record. Every time she had a chance to make a MEANINGFUL move, she spoiled it or forfeited it.
What did she hope to accomplish by gathering some followers and then turning them over to Hillary in the end? The only rational explanation is another Pied Piper routine. Suck the heretics out of the woodwork, get their names via donations, then turn them over to Deepstate for EXTERMINATION. Or less deadly, suck them out of the woodwork and guarantee that they will never participate in politics again.
If the latter, she's doing a real service for those followers. Just as both Bernie and Trump permanently betrayed and disgusted their followers, Tulsi has betrayed and disgusted a different group. This is GOOD AND HEALTHY LEARNING. As I said above, anyone who doesn't understand Manweller's Rule is dangerously stupid.
Joaquin Flores at Strategic-Culture thinks those betrayed people will come together and create a revolution. I doubt it.

Dubious correlation
Highly dubious, but I'm in a dubious mood this morning, so here goes.
Every decade or so we get a Circuit Breaker, an event that removes all the masks of fake "opposition" and allows all the rulers to work together for genocide.
The Swine Flu this year. TARP in 2008. 9/11 in 2001. Fall of USSR in 1990.
The series doesn't extend before 1990 with
similar events. Earlier big events didn't have the same flavor of "opposition" before, consolidation after.
Soros was deeply involved in TARP and 1990, but not obviously part of the other two.
The only constant element in all four is Saudi.
The Swine Flu circuit breaker happened just after Saudi switched sides and joined Russia. TARP supposedly happened because Saudi investors threatened to pull their backing from Wall Street. 9/11 was ALL Saudi. 1990 resulted from our multi-front campaign against Russia, with Saudi playing a major role in running AlQaeda and in cutting oil prices.
The oil shocks of 1973 and 1979 were purely Saudi events, but weren't Circuit Breakers. No consolidation. American people and politicians were free to complain about the shortages.
1990 and 2020 are thus symmetrical. In the '80s Saudi joined USA to cut oil prices to ruin Russia. In 2020 Saudi joined Russia to cut oil prices to ruin USA.

You'd think....
Putin visited Jerusalem and appeared with Netanyahu to dedicate a new memorial to WW2.
Why is this unusual? Because Russia has been STOPPING Israel's wars of aggression in the last few years. Russian forces have directly fought Israel/US proxies in Syria, and Russia is emphatically taking Persia's side against Israel/US aggression.
You'd think Bibi would shun all connection with Putin, but he does the opposite. Israel is buying Russian weapons and infrastructure.
From the opposite angle, you'd think Putin would take the anti-Israel side in discussions of WW2 history, to be consistent with his war-stopping activities. But Putin sticks with FACTS on all issues.
In every case Russia STOPS THE AGGRESSORS. In WW2 the main aggressors were anti-Israel, and Russia stopped them. Now the main aggressors are pro-Israel, and Russia stops them. Stopping aggression is the CONSTANT.
I can't get into Bibi's mind, but I suspect he's saner than his US "defenders". He kicked out Soros, THE ONLY ACTUAL LIVING PEDIGREED NAZI. We continue to harbor Soros and follow his infinitely evil commands. Bibi is happy to have the entire US government and corporate and cultural and media structure working on his side, but maybe he'd still be happy if we slowed down the war just a tad. Maybe we could experiment with destroying only one nation per month instead of one per week? Just as a temporary trial project?

New package, same great GOC
A long historical article on UFOs misses the obvious explanation. The article describes a new for-profit "company" founded by a rock-n-roll "musician". The "company" has hired several "former" intel and military officials who are "disgusted" with the government's "failure to take UFOs seriously".
The article correctly notes that the pattern is familiar, but fails to see the real parallel.
Every
output from Deepstate is meant to serve Deepstate's purposes. When "former" Deepstaters start
giving info on UFOs or any topic, they are attempting to shape our mindset. When Deepstaters
collaborate with entertainers, they are EXPERTLY shaping our mindset.
Back in the '50s the UFO craze was caused by our own experimental aircraft. The government mobilized the
Ground Observers Corps, nominally to watch for enemies, but actually to check the stealthiness of our own experimental flights.
Same thing now. This company called 'To The Stars Academy' is just the good old Company pulling its good old tricks.

Before those years, instrumentation wasn't well-developed; after those years, most of science was destroyed by Leninism or bizarre abstractions and delusions.) A highly readable and lively

Simple solution
Russian cosmonauts have the ultimate simple settlement of the moon landing question.
If we had faked it, Russia would have called us out immediately.
Just as Russia is currently calling out our billions and billions of fake "poisonings" and "attacks" and "hackings" and "meddlings" and "interferences" and "malign behaviors".
The cosmonauts were intensely interested in the landing for obvious skill-guild reasons. They wanted the astronauts to succeed, and they wanted to learn from the success. They had their own receivers and antennas picking up the Apollo transmissions directly. They knew where the antennas were pointed. Moon, not Arizona.
As always, WORKING TOGETHER is the best way to get past ethnic and religious and other "identity" differences. When two people have the same SKILL and work in parallel, those other diffs fade toward zero.

Missing the whole point
BBC is bannering a leak from Ambassador Darroch that completely misses the point and purpose of everything.
Darroch wrote that Trump scuttled the treaty with Persia "to spite Obama".
WELL, OF COURSE. DUH, DUH, DUH, DUH, A THOUSAND TIMES DUH.
All presidents do everything to spite their political opponents. That's called POLITICS. Obama didn't do much until his last year, when he changed a whole bunch of policies specifically to spite his Republican successor.
THIS IS FUCKING NORMAL.
It shouldn't be normal; leaders should do things to benefit the country, not to poison-pill the opposition. In sane countries like Russia and Hungary and Italy, leaders have started to do sane things. But here in Sorosia the ONLY action we get from leaders is soap-opera games.
Trump pretends to undo Obama's last-minute orders, restoring the condition that was just fine with Obama until he wanted to leave a trap. Trump's orders are carefully crafted to change nothing.
This idiotic default standard operating mode tells us nothing about Trump's actual PURPOSE in busting the treaty. In this case he did have a real PURPOSE beyond the default games.
Trump's PURPOSE was to obey Sheldon Adelson. BBC can't say it or think it for fucking obvious reasons.

Economist Dean Baker has located a
report that compares the "dynamism" of America and other rich countries. It's a real waker-upper. Turns out we are at the
bottom of the entrepreneur stack no matter how you try to measure it.
This chart tells the story:
The rest of the report tries to separate manufacturing from agriculture, because the top countries have many small farmers; it looks at firms in manufacturing, computer-related businesses,
research and development, and others. In every category, no matter how you parse the data, America is at the bottom. We are the Land of Monopolies.
Why? No single-payer health care.
I really can't imagine why our brand-D politicos aren't using these facts to help sell a single-payer system ... Oh, now I remember. Our brand-D doesn't want health reform, or American survival, any more than brand-R does. Both parties just want to maximize the profits of insurance companies and lawyers, but in slightly different ways.
= = = = =
Later thought: There are two other factors besides health costs that suppress small business in America. Litigation and copyright/patent problems. Litigation is a uniquely American evil, while copyright/patent problems are only somewhat worse here than in other rich countries. These two factors are narrower than health costs, each affecting only certain types of business, but the net effect of all three is the same.
The sum of these factors gives
total advantage to the largest corporations, which can self-insure for medical care, hire armies of lawyers to scare away the predatory lawyers, generate carefully crafted defensive patents to eliminate innovation, and buy custom-made laws from CongressMart.
