  ETHICS

Little news story about a medical hero. Not clear why the story is popping up just now, but it's worth reading and thinking about.
At age 95, Lucille Horn often reflects on her long, full life, with a husband and five children, and how it might not have happened if not for the renegade doctor who put her in a Coney Island sideshow when she was just days old. Horn is among thousands of former premature babies whose lives were saved in the early 20th century by Dr. Martin Couney, a pioneer in the use of incubators who sought acceptance for the technology by showing it off on carnival midways alongside freak shows and fan dancers.

"Life Begins at the Baby Incubator," read one of the signs at his displays - essentially a ward with babies in the glass cribs - that drew huge crowds at world's fairs, on the Atlantic City boardwalk and Coney Island's Luna Park. Couney invited desperate parents to bring him their preemies, and he paid for their care with the 25 cents he charged for admission.

Couney died in 1950, shortly after incubators finally came into wider use. Horn and others who owe their lives to him want their stories told so the doctor's curious tale - one that would cause outrage by today's standards - doesn't die with them.
Yes! TOTAL OUTRAGE! Saving lives! Letting people appreciate the saved lives! Letting the watchers pay for the process so the poor parents don't have to pay! HORRIBLE! UTTERLY OUTRAGEOUS! TOTALLY UNETHICAL!
"We think this is a spectacle. We could never do this today," said Dr. Richard Schanler, director of neonatal services at Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York.
Of course not! We could never save lives and show them off! We are ETHICAL now. Instead of OUTRAGEOUSLY UNETHICALLY saving lives, we ETHICALLY harvest the liver and ETHICALLY harvest the lower extremities. We ETHICALLY skip the crunchy parts. We ETHICALLY harvest the calvarium above all. That's the real luxury ETHICAL part, the Lamborghini ETHICAL part.

This is ETHICS.

  Lame weak word

Now that we know the gory details ... and gory is a lame weak word ... about how embryonic stem cells are bought and sold, I'm reminded of Bush Junior's strangely specific executive order that supposedly "prohibited" ESC. Of course it didn't. The ESC "scientists" screamed and roared and spun their heads and puked green toxin about it, but they clearly knew that everything would be just fine.

I was suspicious of it from the start. It reminded me of several exec orders issued by Bush Senior, all equally specific, which were fairly obvious guarantees of detailed monopoly for corporations like Archer Daniels Midland.

After Bush Junior left office, he and Laura told us openly what we already knew implicitly about the whole filthy putrid Bush dynasty. All are hard-line Turbosatans, totally orthodox Gaia-worshipping culture smashers. All played the same grossly cynical lip service game to gain the votes of Christians, while privately snortling and chortling at those horrible Het Neanderthals.

Someone with better access to inside info should go back and check the specifics of Bush Junior's stem cell order. Was it a guarantee of monopoly for Stem Express or some earlier company?

= = = = =

Update 8/25/2015: Yup. Someone with better access has been exploring the topic! This explains it.

  Interesting question, dumb answers

RT has a discussion about an important question that I hadn't thought about before.

China is already the main superpower, though we'll never acknowledge the fact. What will the world be like when China is the unquestioned imperial superpower?

One of the discussers is simply a partisan fool. He says China will not be like Scott Walker. That's the only thing that matters. Specifically, China will give infinite money to teacher union thugs and will never interfere with the Supreme Holy Will of teacher union thugs. That's the only thing that matters.

Well.... even if achieving maximal distance from Scott Walker was the most important quality of any nation, China doesn't fit the criterion. In fact China is WORSE THAN SCOTT WALKER by this idiot's standards, because China DOESN'T ALLOW UNIONS AT ALL. China is smart.

The other discussers are closer to reality.

One big point they get right: China runs its existing African colonies rationally and commercially. It doesn't follow the Wilson/neocon model. It doesn't invade and bomb purely to impose an insane bizarre suicidal ideology on the refugees and rubble; it doesn't invite the refugees to kill its own citizens; instead it takes over commerce in the colony and makes it work better for the locals, in order to provide more resources for China. This is good for everyone.

Two points they seem to miss:

(1) China, like the other countries that still claim the Communist brand, stands firmly for the traditional family and traditional division of gender roles. Same-sex "marriage" and trans delusions won't last in Chinese colonies. No problem for Africans, who are even more traditional. Big problem in US/UK/EU.

(2) Banking will be an even bigger evil. Chinese love to gamble, and they are extremely good with numbers. QE was not a Chinese invention (rather oddly!) but China has embraced QE with a vengeance, counterfeiting trillions to keep stocks soaring and roaring. China has counterfeited entire cities, built 70 million empty and unused housing units, just to keep GDP soaring and roaring. The only difference after takeover: Because all Chinese have the same qualities as Jews, the Jews will be displaced from banking and investment in colonial countries. They will have to find something different to do, and it won't be easy. I won't be able to mock the Chosen any more. Instead I'll look back nostalgically to the times when the Chosen were running the economy. I didn't think it could get any worse, but it will.

Two conflicting possibilities on economics. Will China run Western countries the same sensible way they run Africa, or will they run us the same QE way they run China? I dunno.

Oh. Putting the question that way causes the answer to pop out. China is already running us. For 30 years China has been cultivating USA STRONG as a consumer of Chinese manufactured crap. China has induced US capitalists to stop hiring Americans, and induced US banks to turn productive workers into obedient debtors. Our completely smashed culture creates addiction to Chinese-made crap. We are simply one department of the construction boom.

Resource colonies at one end of the chain, consumer colonies at the other. In the middle, the Middle Empire reaping the benefits of production and profit.

  Not a suit town

A message on the Spokane-News facebook page, the ONLY source of real news, caught my attention....

So anyone important in town today...or maybe just training? Late morning near Gonzaga there were two SUVs rolling together 20 mph with tinted windows and some serious suits driving.

Probably doesn't amount to anything, but it's always good for citizens to keep track of suspicious-looking events. The truly salient part was serious suits. In many cities you wouldn't notice serious suits. Commonplace. In Spokane serious suits stand out like a giraffe.

On my morning walks I see a lot of people getting into their cars and leaving for work. I never see a suit. Mostly 'businesslike' clothes but no jackets or ties.

In the last few years the only time I saw suits was jury duty, and even in the courtroom only the judge and defendant were fully suited up. The prosecutor and defense lawyer were dressed in a 'businesslike' way but no jackets or ties.

= = = = =

Irrelevant sidenote: The early '50s radio cop shows that I like to hear at bedtime illustrate a totally different vocabulary and attitude about clothing. When the 1952 culprit was wearing what I call a serious suit, the 1952 witnesses described his attire as "sports clothes". Sounds peculiar now. "Sports clothes" calls up an image of inappropriate Spandex. When a culprit was wearing what I call businesslike clothes, the 1952 witnesses would have said "he was dressed like a bum" and the cops would have looked for him on Skid Row.

If I remember correctly from what we learned in school dressup days, the term "sports clothes" meant that the jacket and pants were different colors, and a "sports jacket" was a jacket that was not the same color as the pants. This can't be right. Doesn't make a lick of sense. What happens if you're wearing "non-sports clothes", tan jacket and tan pants, and then you change to black pants? Now you're wearing "sports clothes" and the "non-sports jacket" has pulled a Dolezal. It has transed into a "sports jacket" without any actual change of fabric. How was this ontological miracle accomplished?

  Wrong worry

The usual tech celebs are agitating against 'autonomous robot warriors'. Although the worry is refreshingly out of character from these idiots who normally applaud EVERY advance of evil, this one is just plain silly.

For millions of years humans have been developing new ways of killing remotely. Hitting the enemy at a distance without being hit. There's no essential difference between a robot and a rock.

Even if you think there's a difference, the autonomous robot itself has been around since WW1. Remote-controlled planes and balloons were used in 1918. The Krauts had a radio-controlled rocket WITH TV CAMERA in 1945, though they didn't get much of a chance to use it.

Come on, tech slebs. There are bigger things to worry about, like Apple's 'wearables' that measure everything you're doing and feeling. Of course Woz isn't going to worry about that problem. Too much profit in his stock options.

  Genuine puzzle

Usually I can spot the underlying consistency in these Satanic "contradictions". This one stumps me entirely.

(1) Dolezal dresses up as black. Uses the costume to gain plenty of money and prestige, and to waste police time and cast suspicion on plenty of innocent people, including her own adopted brother, for MORE THAN 5 YEARS. Causes tremendous damage. Destroys many lives. No punishment at all; instead she is treated as a hero.

(2) Three British teenagers dress up as black for ONE HOUR, for a COSTUME PARTY. Absolutely no harm done; nobody falsely accused, no police time wasted. NATIONWIDE MANHUNT! MUST CAPTURE AND DESTROY! KILL! KILL! KILL! DEFCON 9999999999999999999999! TERROR STATE RED WITH LAVENDER STRIPES!

I understand (2) as a typical excrescence of modern infinite x infinite x infinite insanity. I still don't understand why the organizations who employed Dolezal enjoyed having a publicly known faker as their CEO.

Most likely explanation: Blackmail is more powerful than blackface. Still seems like a long stretch, though.

  One extra thought

One little thought about Trump. Don't know why I didn't notice this before.

Obviously and generally, his strong point is that he has so much money he can't be bought. He doesn't need to whore after Sheldon Adelson's money like the other Repooflicans. He is free to say what he thinks. A lot of what he thinks is true and important. Some isn't true, but it's still Trump's own actual beliefs, not appeals for Adelson's money.

More direct point that I didn't see before: Trump not only doesn't need Adelson's money; he has been DIRECTLY COMPETING with Adelson himself in Vegas.

So this is a fight between two casino owners. One of them is in the ring personally, working for himself. The other is indirectly controlling the 3,719 little players on the other side without actually paying them. Typical Chosen behavior.

  Less ontology

I've tried to deal with trans shit at the level of basic logic before.

Changing your gender requires renting a Tardis and traveling back to the location of your mother's uterus at the timepoint when the egg that would become you is about to be fertilized. Miniaturize yourself, crawl into your mother's uterus, find the sperm about to penetrate the egg, squash it, and pick a different sperm with the opposite set of sex chromosomes. After this other sperm fertilizes the egg, your entire life will disappear from the start to the present. You never exist[ed]. You are not. Some other brother or sister exist[ed] in your place. The rented Tardis is marooned at this timepoint and will need to be repo'd by Timelord Logistics LLC, which is accustomed to dealing with idiots pursuing vain things, and prices the repo risk into its rates.

Convective thought just now:

There's a less ontological and less sci-fi way of dealing with the question.

All human beings, and in fact all mammals, have singular permanent gender. Some other animals like slugs or jellyfish have mixed or variable gender.

If you claim that your gender is variable, you have voluntarily resigned from the human species. You can no longer claim any of the protections that we give to humans or mammals. You may be able to join a species of slug that belongs on some Endangered list, but I doubt that you'll enjoy the privileges appurtenant thereto. Even Endangered slugs aren't allowed to drive cars, or vote, or marry other humans of any gender, or own property, or have bank accounts. And you won't be able to drink beer for damn sure, even if you're over 21 in slug years.

  This hour's vain thing

Why do the people imagine a vain thing? Good old line from Messiah, or I guess originally from Psalm 2. Pretty much applies to all things in US/UK/EU. Vain in both senses. Vain as in futile, vain as in narcissistic.

This hour's example of a vain thing:

All the stories agree. NSA will stop gathering metadata on phone calls.

Everyone with a grasp on reality knows that this is completely vain as in futile.

Simple fact: NSA does not use laws.

Since its inception, NSA has always monitored everything physically possible, limited only by technology. And NSA's tech has always been several years ahead of vulgar commoner tech.

Why do the media imagine this vain thing? Why do they take counsel together and agree to propagate such a bizarre delusion? Because they're vain as in narcissistic. Not looking at the world, only looking in the mirror and seeing Angelic Marvelousness.

A non-vain headline of the event in question would be more like:

Piece of paper contains words and the acronym NSA.

That's as far as you can go without running off the end of reality.

= = = = =

The next few lines of the Psalm are also instructive.

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

Breaking the bands of reality, casting away the cords of fact and logic and morality.

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Hmm. Would be nice, but not much evidence of it.

Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

Who's doing the vexing? Well, ISIS and Boko Haram fit the role of God's Hand in the Old Testament. But they're not vexing the places that are ferociously breaking the bands asunder; instead they're vexing places where most people are still on the Lord's side. Seems like another vain thing as in wasted effort. Need more accurate vex vectors.

  Collision with conventional wisdom

The latest Collectible Auto mag came in the mail. A compendium article on Cars of 1929 ran through familiar material until this paragraph collided head-on with my conventional wisdom:

Two automakers that specialized in hearses and ambulances, Cunningham and Sayers&Scovill, continued to offer passenger cars to the general public, albeit very few and primarily through undertakers -- which must have done wonders for weeding out idle tire-kickers.

CRASH!

Think about that in two ways.

(1) You hear that Graves Mortuary has a snazzy new Sayers Six for sale. You look at it, decide it's nothing special, but pick up a prepaid funeral for your mother-in-law while you're in the store, hoping that the preparation will speed up the Happening part of "If God Forbid Something Should Happen." The Six has served as a loss leader.

(2) You're arranging the rites for dear Uncle Zeke. Mr Graves is showing you the deluxe solid-oak caskets and cars. You select the strippo Parkwood Pine casket for dear Unc, who you didn't like much anyway, and the Sayers Glendale Eight for yourself. You deserve a fine car as a reward. The Glendale has served as a halo model.

Both scenarios are purely beyond modern imagination. This conjunction of consummation and combustion implies a much more familiar attitude toward death in the 1920s. After the 1918 flu epidemic, the unthinkable was all too easily thinkable.

I tried to trace down the surprising part but so far can't find much on the web.

This long article on Sayers & Scovill mentions the passenger models but doesn't say they were only sold by undertakers. Clearly the passenger models were initially made for use by undertakers as 'first call' cars. S&S continued as an independent hearse-maker until the 1970s; after several mergers, the name is still used on some hearses**.

An ad in Automobile Trade Journal for 1920 features the Sayers Six:

This ad was aimed at potential car dealers, not retail customers, so I wouldn't expect it to say that you're going to be competing with undertakers. It refers delicately to 'notable' vehicles.

Specs in another trade journal indicate that the Sayers Six was extremely typical of the early '20s: 'assembled' car with Continental engine, median length, median horsepower, median price. S&S offered these models for 10 years, so the quantities and profits must have been sufficient to amortize the sunk costs of design and tooling.

= = = = =

** Footnote: The starred sentence is a universal template. XXXX continued as an independent YYYY maker until the 1970s; after several mergers, the XXXX name is still used on some YYYYs. The 1970s were deadly for independent makers of EVERYTHING in America. Nixon's massive increase in enviro and "safety" regulations, combined with the shift from profit to share value, wiped out manufacturing. A few big merged companies held on for a while, keeping old names active without the old employees.

  Darwin bites and metabites

Berezow at RCS has fun with a pot cookie:
For those of you unfamiliar with the Darwin Award, it is given to the "individuals who protect our gene pool by making the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives," usually by "eliminat[ing] themselves in an extraordinarily idiotic manner, thereby improving our species' chances of long-term survival." It is in that spirit that I shall discuss the case of a 19-year-old resident of Colorado who met his untimely demise after consuming a pot-infused cookie.
Dickhead ate one entire pot cookie, disobeying the (wildly counterintuitive!) written instructions that each cookie should be divided into 6 portions. Thought he could fly, found out otherwise.

Just like 'Reefer Madness', except 'Reefer Madness' was wrong at the time when it was made. You can't get crazy by smoking the stuff because it hits your brain immediately and you know when you're reaching your limit. A newly made 'Reefer Madness' would be right. When you eat infused cookies or candy, the effect is delayed and you can go too far.

Making laws will be difficult because legislators are already crazy without any pot. Their calvariums are jammed to overflowing with EPA/CDC propaganda that says SMOKE BAD! SMOKE BAD! SMOKE BAD! Thus they will find it impossible to make a law that favors smoke over liquid in any context.

Incidentally, Berezow pulled a sort of meta-Darwin on the authorial level. His assumed superior knowledge came back to bite him. Those who are truly familiar with the Darwin award will know that the Darwin Award website has been dormant for a couple of years, so Darwin Awards aren't being awarded.

Makes sense, of course. In a place that has descended into infinite x infinite x infinite hyperhyperhyperinsanity, the tiniest hint of sanity must be TORTURED AND BURNED. So an award that attempts to laugh at insanity MUST go dormant.

= = = = =

Seriously, I'd think a lawsuit on the instructions would succeed. You can't expect anyone, pothead or not, to eat only 1/6 of a cookie. What's the point of having a unit like a cookie if you're supposed to eat only part of it? For non-potheads a reasonable and expectable dose is 3 or 4 full cookies. For potheads multiply by 10.

  Hoover vs McGovern

A long and detailed article about the long dispute between FBI head Hoover and Comrade McGovern.

Lots of juicy stuff for partisans, and the article is written from a modern Satanic viewpoint; but it's easy enough to filter out the venom.

It reduces to simple and REAL politics. Unlike today's Robust Debates that bid up the cost and lethality of a government activity in ONE DIRECTION, there was an actual TWO-SIDED debate during the lifetimes of Hoover and McGovern.

The two sides were simple and firmly defined. McGovern was a Communist and Hoover was an anti-Communist. McGovern did everything he could to interfere with Hoover's anti-Commie activity. Hoover did everything he could to interfere with McGovern's Commie activity.

Real opposition, real debate. American Commies were right about Vietnam and wrong about most other things. They started the ball rolling toward Satan's current victory, though most of them (like McGovern) were strongly traditional and strongly moral people in private life. Hoover was wrong about Vietnam and right about most other stuff, though he was apparently non-traditional in his private life.

Even in public both men were more complicated than their sides, and more complicated than modern partisans (including me!) would prefer. McGovern favored small business, which put him at odds with other Commies. Hoover strongly favored racial equality, which put him at odds with government moves like the justified internment of Japs. Hoover acted against Comrade MLK, not because he thought racial equality was bad, but because Comrade MLK and his associates were Commies who were using the racial equality movement for their own anti-American purposes.

  No surprise

Fuckhead Obama is LECTURING the leader of Kenya on the necessity of suicide.

Fortunately, the president of Kenya isn't going along for the evil ride. He is politely demurring. "No thanks, I wouldn't care for any suicide just now. Maybe later."

In the same speech, Fuckhead Obama notes correctly that Africa is rising.

Chutzpah as usual. Fuckhead Obama misses the fucking point. Kenyatta does not miss the fucking point.

Here we have a perfect comparison of two systems.

One system, Natural Law, was developed over many thousands of years of painful experimentation. It was written down as formal laws 5000 years ago.

The other system, Suicide, has been developed for about 100 years, and was written down as formal law EXACTLY ONE MONTH AGO.

Africa is rising BECAUSE it is strict about following EXPERIMENTAL SCIENCE, which determined 5000 years ago that civilization requires BOUNDARIES and DIVISION OF LABOR. This is how Nature made the world. Boundaries, division of labor, decentralized control.

US/UK/EU is collapsing BECAUSE it has abandoned all aspects of EXPERIMENTAL SCIENCE. We try to operate in violation of ALL facts in ALL areas. We eliminate all boundaries, eliminate all division of labor, smash all feedback loops. We violate geographic facts, cultural facts, economic facts, biological facts, mechanical facts. We replace all KNOWN AND EXPERIMENTALLY DETERMINED facts with our own hyperwacked delusions and theories, the product of unspeakably unimaginably demented and horribly diseased calvariums.

It should be no surprise that Nature works. Nature has been working forever. It should be no surprise that TOTAL DELUSION fails, and it's grotesquely obvious that TOTAL DELUSION is in the process of failing here and now.

If you want to survive, which written law do you choose? 5000 years of proven survival, or ONE MONTH of proven failure?

Kenyatta understands this. That's why Kenya is rising.

Fuckhead Obama does not understand this. Nobody else at any level of the US/UK/EU power structure understands it either. That's why US/UK/EU is falling.

Morality is another name for survival.

  Effective begging

Nice contrast to the ineffective begging two weeks ago.

Same bus stop, same time of morning. This time a car pulls into the parking lot near me. A female human hops out of the car and comes over to me. HUH? What's happening? Females NEVER approach me for friendly purposes. Is this a process server? Random shooter? Nope. A Jehovah's Witness doing God's work. She gives a 10-second spiel, decides that the pamphlet "Has science replaced the Bible?" is the correct one. Hands it to me. I say something like "You got that right! THANKS!" and she runs back to her car and goes off to save more souls.

She did everything right. First of all, being a female... but that's not something you can just choose. Either you got it or you don't. Takes guts to approach an unknown male. Second, she worked FAST. Satan is working FAST, so God's people also need to work FAST. Third, she had the social acumen to figure out that I'm the sciencey type.

If I had time and social acumen, I would have told her that she didn't really need to convert me. I'm already on her side in a general way. Not the Witness theology as such, but the concept that the Bible is a science textbook is pretty much all I write about lately.

So the begging was highly effective but sort of redundant.

Still, God's work for damn sure.

  Surface-mounted crimethink

I always keep a copy of Collectible Auto mag in front of me when I eat. Today's copy featured Chevies of the early '30s.

CA has this luscious picture of the '32:

Two not-quite-separate thoughts from one picture.

= = = = =

Thought #1: From about 1890 through 1965, the USA government AND schools AND corporations AND culture in general made a point of reconciling the North and

Ragtime composers found out that Yankee Doodle mixed well with

and put together some remarkably clever compositions using both.

Corporations tried to achieve the same balance. Chevy's 1931 model was called the Independence, and this '32 was called the

Needless to say, we wouldn't think of engaging in the ancient obsolete nasty practice of healing and reconciliation. Now we do healing and reconciliation, which means restarting the war with more blood and more bombs and more burning. It will be interesting to watch Barrett-Jackson's auction listings. If somebody tries to sell a

will Barrett-Jackson require it to be burned instead of sold? I bet yes.

= = = = =

Thought #2:

As I looked at the unnameable picture, I was struck by the way EVERYTHING was mounted on the surface. Headlights, horns, radiator cap, spare tire, axles, springs. Just after 1932 this began to change, at first tentatively by the odd little Willys and the ugly Airflow. Those two cars didn't really move the trend, but Lincoln's magnificent '36 Zephyr did the job. By 1940 only the wheels and door handles were outside the envelope on most cars.

I've been playing with a modern replication of Houghton's Phono-Faradic device which supposedly cured tinnitus.

The original as shown in Houghton's article:

And my digital animation made a couple years ago:

Note that everything is surface-mounted just like the Unnameable. Switches, pots, pendulums. All wide open. This was true of electronic devices from 1830 to 1920, a bit earlier than the change in cars. Basically all components except the batteries were right out there on the surface where you could remove and adjust and even modify them. After 1920, cabinets started to get smoother and streamlinier, and only the knobs were on the surface. All working parts were inside the box. Every year thereafter, the user lost power and lost skills. Now you can't even be trusted with knobs. Every function is controlled and hacked from the Cloud, which is another name for Big Trans-Sibling.

In replicating Houghton (with a 555 instead of a pendulum) my first thought was to go modern and put everything inside a standard plastic box; but then Serendipity called and I found a wooden speaker box that enables me to replicate the surfacey form of the original as well. More on this later after it's done.

= = = = =

Later after it was done in breadboard form: I tried to use it as Houghton had described. With alligator clips, put ground on my neck and positive on left earlobe. Frequency about 4 cps, nominal current limited to no more than 10 mA even if my innards had been effectively a short, which obviously they aren't. I could feel the pulses in the neck skin. Result was not pleasant. Felt odd for about an hour, then tinnitus increased for several days. Possibly the polarity should have been reversed, but I'm not going to find out. I know when to fold em. Disassembled the ckt on breadboard and abandoned the project.

  Weird fire day

(1) In London, schoolkids celebrated the end of semester by burning their books outside. Caused a grass fire, melted power lines, cut electricity to a major part of London.

(2) In Idaho, a touring bicyclist stopped on a forest trail to poop. Decided for some stupid reason to burn the TP after using it. Started a forest fire, burned 73 acres.

More arguments for a total ban on all outside flames. Switch the laws to require smoking INSIDE instead of OUTSIDE.

  One more mantra fades

Another trade now joins the rapidly increasing collection of arts and crafts that MUST do evil. Pharmacists MUST dispense abortion pills.

A convective thought pops up.

Science has made religion its enemy. Religious people and sane people now reject science for perfectly rational reasons. Science has left the arena of facts and logic, and now adheres to vile filthy genocidal madness.

Until now, religious people tended to favor business. Evangelicals have been trained by Soviet Agent Ayn Rand to recite the mantra that capitalism is good capitalism is good capitalism is good taxation is theft taxation is theft taxation is theft.

Big corporations and bankers have been doing pure evil for quite a while now. Some evangelicals seem to realize this, but they haven't really changed their perspective on business as such.

Now that ALL businesses big and small are required to do evil, the connection will become more obvious and transparent. People will find that their employers can no longer afford the liability costs of hiring Christians.

As this trend expands, religion and business will finally become enemies.

There is an answer to this, but it's not going to happen before the revolution.

  Malaria and the BIG question

Probably the biggest news of the year. If 2015 is going to be remembered for something other than Satan's ferocious victory slaughter, this would be it. A vaccine for malaria has completed 30 years of testing and improvement, and is (more or less?) ready for market.

The commenters at the Telegraph article are arguing along the usual lines. Idiot Malthusians versus observers of actual reality. Exp versus tanh. When you know most of your kids will die quickly, you produce a lot of babies. When you know your kids will survive, you produce less.

But they're all missing the bigger point. Malaria weakens more than it kills.

We don't need to be thinking about a simple increase in African numbers; we should be pondering an increase in African physical and mental strength.

At this point in history, Africa is on the upswing. Many countries have finally grown tired of the post-colonial excuses and dependence. They're taking control of their own destiny.

Africa is the LAST STRONGHOLD of non-Satanic people. The only place where Satan can be slowed down for a few femtoseconds.

As malaria fades, more Africans will be mentally and physically available to solve their own problems. Will they live within a culture and government that wants them to solve problems, or will they live within a culture and government that needs more subsidy-suckers and Global Warming Victims and cannon fodder?

The biggest question of all, for the entire world and especially Africa, is the old song. How ya gonna keep em down on the farm after they've seen Nairobeeeee? Or Shanghaiiiii? Or even Pareeeee?

How do we make small-scale farming more profitable and interesting than city life? More protected from predatory bankers and speculators? More attractive for families to stay on the same plot of land?

That's the BIG question.

  NASA returns to shit

The Pluto crew at NASA has raised the bar for gaining positive public attention. It's no mystery. Just be human. Skip the tech shit and give things meaningful names. Treat your target like a newly discovered friend instead of a newly written piece of code. NO THEORIES, JUST CAREFUL OBSERVATION PLUS A DASH OF WONDERMENT.

THIS. IS. SCIENCE.

The heart. The whale. Tombaugh Plain, which incidentally looks remarkably like a brain. Maybe it should have been called the Sea of Cortex.

Now the latest from the pointless exoplanet crew returns to boring standard, showing the distinction even more dramatically.
We can think of Kepler-452b as an older, bigger cousin to Earth, providing an opportunity to understand and reflect upon Earth's evolving environment," said Jon Jenkins, the Kepler data analysis lead at NASA's Ames Research Center.
452-b. The only people who get excited about names like 452-b are autistic supernerds. And note also the IMMEDIATE reference to good old GLOBAL WARMING and EVOLUTION and ENVIRONMENT. Four doses of standard evil NASA poison in one sentence.

Examining Pluto makes sense because Pluto is reachable. We could send a manned mission there with existing Russian technology. (There's no such thing as American technology. We only manufacture chaos and genocide.) It would be a stretch, but it's POSSIBLE.

There is exactly ZERO chance that we'll ever reach, or even COMMUNICATE, with a planet 1400 LIGHT YEARS AWAY. We don't even know if it still exists. This is PURE THEORY, PURE SCI-FI.

THIS. IS. NOT. SCIENCE.

A bit later: The Pluto crew has answered the weak riposte by the exonerds. A magnificently beautiful picture of the part they're calling Sputnik Plain. Nice touch, honoring the REAL pioneers from both sides despite idiotic USA STRONG invasions and aggressions against Russia.

The Pluto team says the picture is showing a flow of exotic ices. Take that, exonerds! Which would you rather have in your kitchen, a glass of rp4896.4i9^t#zq80 or a glass of exotic ices?

Exonerds should slink back to their coding cubicles and just 7463&3.77#2^7fQ5 for a while.

= = = = =

Graphic note: My toonish Sputnik is fairly accurate. A sphere with 4 antennas all pointing the same way. But this ISN'T what you envision when you hear the word Sputnik. You see a sphere with DOZENS of antennas pointing in all possible directions. Like most of our space-age imagery, this icon became popular several years BEFORE any satellites were launched. The early US Vanguard satellites were closer to the iconic image. Vanguard had 8 antennas, pointing to the 'anatomical cardinals'. Up, down, left, right, front, back. It's not clear how the all-spikes icon became associated with the Sputnik brand.

  Simple answer

There's no way to stop abortion with "law", because "law" is extinct.

But there is a way to manipulate the forces of insanity to eliminate abortion.

The educrat monsters are trying to expand their empire both downward and upward. Now that pre-K is officially required, prepreK is next. Encourage them to keep going FAST, which is no problem because Satan always moves FAST.

When prepreprepreK reaches birth, it will have to keep going for one more school year = 9 months. After that, it bumps into a physical limit that even monsters can't break.

Educrats always defend their gains with ACTUAL ARMED FORCE, unlike the Milifairy which refuses to use force.

Any attempt to decrease the population of prepreprepreprepreK students, by abortion or miscarriage or contraception, will be instantly stopped.

Do you imagine that this will make Christian opposition to abortion OK? Don't be silly. Educrat opposition to abortion is ENTIRELY DIFFERENT from Christian opposition to abortion. How could you even think of comparing the actions of Correct Persons with the actions of Unpersons? Shame on you.

  Anniversary

Today is the anniversary of the Big Wind, a gustnado or microburst that ripped up this neighborhood.

Looking back at the night before it, I notice this cranky item complaining that the Weather Bureau didn't see the nice rain approaching. Clearly my mood was responding to the severity of the approaching delta.

Here's the radar that I posted to accompany the crankiness:

Yes, there's rain in the picture, but there's also at least three FUCKING MICROBURSTS in the picture, WHICH I DIDN'T FUCKING NOTICE. Sorry, Weather Bureau. I was cranking at the mote but missing the LITERAL LOGS that were about to fall.

Next day, a few hours before the blast, I felt the need for solace and prayer, so I posted this item, showing the colors of the Russian America flag. Invoking the only moderately sane place on Earth.

And then it happened. I'll reprint part of the description, which was written a few days later after power and web were restored:
DAMN. That was BAD.

The Weather Bureau has more trouble forecasting in continental-influenced years like this one. And they missed this purely continental storm.

They were warning for strong thunderstorms, so I was ready for that. Unplugged the computer, closed the doors and windows, cooked supper early to avoid possible power outage.

But they didn't warn for 75 MPH wind.

It came without any natural warning. I heard a few THUMPS before I heard wind. Those THUMPS were, of course, trees dropping. The wind came all at once, step-function style. It roared, punctuated by more THUMPS. I opened the front door to see what in the holy fuck was happening, because it didn't sound like wind. Stood there transfixed, which was not smart; I should have taken cover. Watched the nearest stand of trees thrashing and bending as they always do in a big wind. The wind kept getting stronger, and then it was full of hail and rain, which made its force unstoppable. One of the trees bent 90 degrees and fell as I watched. THUMP. Just like I'd imagined it would.

And then it was over. Maybe 5 minutes.

My house is okay. The only damage is a piece of metal siding popped loose.

Back in 2011, after another continental year, I had the trees removed from my yard. They would have squashed me this time if they'd still been around. In that same year I had the fence braced, and it remains stubbornly vertical. Also thanks to the neighbor on the west, who removed several trees in that same year. One of those trees would have been directly aimed at my house if it had still been around.

The people who didn't go for Zero Problems in previous years have Big Problems this year.
Those Big Problems, roughly 10 squashed houses and garages, took several months to repair. Now the neighborhood looks about the same as before, except for several trees that remain broken and unremoved.

  "Armed"?

Local news features a story about armed civilians protecting National Guard recruiters, since the illegitimate illegal infinitely insane so-called alleged quote "Federal" "Government" unquote still refuses to allow soldiers to carry guns. refuses to allow soldiers to carry guns. refuses to allow soldiers to carry guns. refuses to allow soldiers to carry guns. refuses to allow soldiers to carry guns. refuses to allow soldiers to carry guns. refuses to allow soldiers to carry guns. refuses to allow soldiers to carry guns. No, it doesn't get any saner with repetition. It just gets worse.

Some state governors have amazingly opted into common sense for Natl Guard within their states, and so far the "Feds" haven't kicked back. This won't last.** As mentioned before, opting away from Satan is not allowed, while opting into Satan is always allowed.

Several times in the feature, the reporter used the term "Armed Forces" without even noticing that it's obsolete. He said the "armed civilians are protecting the Armed Forces", which is precisely false. The armed civilians are protecting the Unarmed Non-Forces.

As with Trump, I have to ask a basic marketing question. Surely the recruiters can see that being publicly vulnerable, showing yourself to the whole world as an open target for anyone who wants to shoot you, is NOT GOOD ADVERTISING for potential soldiers.

Join us for guaranteed suicide! Want to experience the pleasure of dying a slow death without any chance of preventing it or shooting back? Sign up for the Unarmed Non-Forces!

Do they want suicidal soldiers? Is that the whole point?

Assume intent from actions.

**7/25 addendum: Well, that didn't take long.

  A proof by contradiction

Sudden realization about Snow Trump vs the 700 Repooflican Dwarfs. A classic proof by contradiction.

If we start with the assumption that votes are the marketing target for candidates, the actions of the 700 Repooflican Dwarfs make no sense at all. They are working amazingly hard to gain the vote of Our Prophet Binyamin Netanyahu, and to gain the votes of Mexican druglords. They are working amazingly hard to utterly repel and disgust American voters, to guarantee that American voters never never never consider even LOOKING at any Repoof candidate again.

Why does this make no sense? Our Prophet Binyamin Netanyahu does not vote in primaries. Mexican druglords do not vote in primaries. American voters vote in primaries.

Still assuming that votes are the target, Trump makes slightly more sense. Along with the 700 Dwarfs he is trying to gain the vote of Our Lord And Prophet Netanyahu, but he is ALSO appealing to American voters, and strongly repelling Mexican druglords.

One basic fact: Marketers and political operatives are NOT dumb. Marketers know what they're doing. When you have 701 products competing for customers, you will never see 700 of the products wildly repelling and disgusting all customers, and the other 1 product repelling most customers.

Conclusion: Votes are not the target. Mafia money is the target. The money of Sheldon Adelson, who owns the Vegas Mafia and the Macao Mafia, is unquestionably the main target. Another likely target is the money and opinion of Carlos Slim, who owns part of the Media Mafia and part of the Mexican Mafia.

The 700 Dwarfs need money, so they are talking exclusively to Sheldon Adelson and Carlos Slim, while pretending to talk to voters. Trump doesn't need money, so he can say anything he wants.

  Thanks, Ralph 9

At one point Esolen tries to reassure the keepers of tradition:
Our Lord has granted us one of the most precious blessings in war. Our enemies are ignorant. They are clever—they have brains, as all human beings do. But imagine a rickety fence against a cannon: that’s our contemporary journalist against Chesterton. Imagine a squirt gun against a battering ram: that’s our contemporary educator against Pope Benedict.
Not far from Emerson:
The history of persecution is a history of attempts to cheat nature, to make water run uphill, to twist a rope of sand.
It's hard to see the benefit of the enemy's negative intelligence when the enemy so obviously owns the tanks and bombs. But occasionally it shows up even within the ranks of the enemy. This is from a Robust Debate within Satan's Anglican division:
The first motion, on combating climate change, anticipates the global summit that is due to take place in Paris in December. It urges governments to “agree long-term pathways to a low-carbon future” and endorses the World Bank’s call for the ending of fossil-fuel subsidies. It also looks inward, requesting the development of new “eco-theological resources” and encouraging parishes and dioceses to encourage a fast for climate change on the first day of each month.

The second motion, on investments, says that “urgent action to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels” is required... It welcomes the recent disinvestment by the Church’s national investment bodies (NIBs) from oil sands and thermal coal and urges them to “engage ROBUSTLY with companies and policy-makers on the need to act to support the transition to a low-carbon economy”.

For some, the threat of disinvestment did not go far enough. The Revd Hugh Lee wished to amend the motion to threaten disinvestment from oil companies within three years “unless they have committed to ceasing oil exploration and reducing production consistently with limiting the global temperature rise to two degrees celcius”.

Clive Scowen described the threat of disinvestment as “rather peculiar”. He argued that oil companies “like nothing better than be shot of troublesome activist shareholders. It will not leave the boards of BP and Shell quaking in their boots but singing in their bars.”
Robust Debate as usual. Start with total genocide (except the Chosen), bid it up by a factor of 10 at each step. KILLING EVERYTHING (except the Chosen) is NOT ENOUGH! ONLY A TINY BABY STEP! WE MUST KILL 10 TIMES EVERYTHING (except the Chosen)! NO! THAT'S JUST A TINY BABY STEP TOWARD A TINY BABY STEP! KILL 100 TIMES EVERYTHING (except the Chosen)!

But note the unwelcome intrusion of Scowen, who seems to have been visited by a strange hallucination of momentary common sense. Plain fact: Disinvestment enriches the rich, like everything else Satan does. Disinvestment will actually increase the activities of oil companies.

Needless to say, he is shouted down and Robust Debate continues in the Correct Direction. Kill everything but the Chosen, AND make life easier for oil companies.

Thanks, Ralph.

One who gets it, one who doesn't

(1) Gets it.

A harsh and sharp and precise column by Anthony Esolen in the Crisis Magazine website.
Let’s get straight to the point. We no longer live in a culturally Christian state. We do not live in a robust pagan state, such as Rome was during the Pax Romana. We live in a sickly sub-pagan state, or metastate, a monstrous thing, all-meddlesome, all-ambitious. The natural virtues are scorned. ....

We are not in partibus infidelibus. We are in partibus insanibus.

What shall we do now? The answer is both daunting and liberating. We do everything.
That doesn’t mean that I do everything, or that you do everything. Suppose you find yourself in a bombed out city. There are all kinds of things to do, and all of them have to be done.
Esolen goes on to specify things that need to be done, not necessarily to repair the damage, but to maintain a segment of culture and society during the dark age. Some of his recommendations are theological and thus above my head. The parts I can grasp are precisely correct.

= = = = =

(2) Doesn't get it.

The mayor of Airway Heights, a suburb of Spokane mainly serving Fairchild AFB, is in drearily predictable hot water for twittering a really dumb comment about Michele and Barack Obama. It's not even a joke. It's the same sort of crude idiocy that every authoritative journalist and every responsible politician and every wise commentator said and broadcasted and printed every millisecond about Laura and George Bush, but the mayor fails to realize that we are in partibus insanibus now. We are in Pol Pot territory. Dumb jokes in the Correct Direction are rewarded with Pulitzer Prizes. Dumb jokes in the Incorrect Direction are CAPITAL CRIMES.

If you're going to get in hot water, you need to be doing it for a serious reason. Catholic hospitals, and businesses that provide weddings and cakes, are in hot water for serious reasons. They refused to shape their craft to suit an immoral purpose. Until now, refusing to commit a sin (by the standards of your own religion) was considered ordinary and normal. Now it isn't. Sin is required.

But not all sins and emphatically not all businesses. For instance. You can be 100% sure that kosher butchers will never be required to sell pork. You can be 100% sure that halal butchers will SOON be required to sell pork, and will be punished when they refuse. It's not the act that matters, it's WHO YOU ARE that matters. For Correct Castes all things are permitted. For Untouchables nothing is permitted.

The mayor was accustomed to the loose-limbed Old American system where Caste didn't matter much. He was blindsided by Satan's new Caste system.

  Self-overrated raters of self-overrated experts

BBC is interviewing a "scientist" about a "study" by Dunning and Rosenzweig at Cornell. The "study" supposedly shows that experts, or people who believe themselves to be experts, overrate their own knowledge. Example given: the study presented a list of topics to a self-appointed expert on biology. The expert was asked to rate his own knowledge on each topic. Most of those topics were real, a few were completely made up.

The interviewed "scientist" mentioned her favorite made-up topic:

"One term that I especially like is the retroflex."

Well, fucking fuckhead, retroflex is NOT MADE UP. It belongs inside the topic of biology. Retroflex describes sounds made with the tip of the tongue pulled up and slightly back. In standard midwest American English, /r/ is made in a retroflex position. Many Oriental languages have a retroflex flip that gets written as both r and l, accounting for the common Oriental confusions of those two sounds.

I know quite a bit about retroflex, and if asked, I'd rate my knowledge 7 out of 10.

But you fuckheads would consider me to be a faker, because

YOU ARE OVERRATING YOUR OWN NONEXISTENT "KNOWLEDGE". YOU PICKED A TERM THAT CORRECTLY BELONGS IN BIOLOGY AND YOU CALLED IT "MADE UP".

I didn't have to Google retroflex because I ACTUALLY KNOW SOMETHING about phonetics ... but you COULD have Googled it. YOU DIDN'T FUCKING BOTHER because you were completely fucking certain about your own fucking false non-existent "knowledge". Arrogant ignorant monsters.

In a meta way this proves the original point, which didn't really need any proving. It also invalidates the "study".

  Empty argument

Via RCS, a plea for more funding to "social engineering", by something called Sir Cary Cooper.
Jonathan Michie, president of Oxford University’s Kellogg College, contributes a chapter on economics and sustainable growth. Other chapters touch on climate change, food security, the Arab Spring, and recycling. Why the Social Sciences Matter is at heart an urgent expression of faith in the methodologies and social impact of non-STEM sciences, a convincing manifesto for the central place that empirical social criticism must take in policy-making.
Climate change, food security, Arab Spring, recycling. Three giant crimes and one minor crime. "Climate change" is simply a way to increase Goldman's share value. Food security is a real problem, but it was made vastly worse by Goldman's manipulations, leading to the conditions for the Arab Spring. The actual riots and revolts of the Arab Spring occurred because Victoria Nudelman made them occur. Recycling starts with a basically good idea and turns it into a subsidy-sucker for a few giant corporations.

If Sir Cooper is going to "empirical social criticize" Goldman and Nudelman, then I'm all for his efforts. But we can be 10000000000% certain that Nasty-ass Filthy-ass Putrid-ass Sir Motherfucking Genocidist Cooper wants to "empirical social criticize" the rest of us, the NON-Goldman and NON-Nudelman types, to enslave us even more abjectly to Goldman and Nudelman. Kill the poor, enrich the Chosen.
You know what it is, really? It’s trying to show the politicians, policymakers, people in general, that social sciences are not a soft, fuzzy area; our work actually makes a contribution to everything. Say we had absolutely definitive evidence that climate change was occurring, and we need to take steps. In the end, that’s all about behavior change, isn’t it? All the science in the world, all the engineering, in the end it has to get people to change their behavior for it to be effective.
Climate change again, of course. And in that one sentence he crashes his own project, because he shows that he doesn't understand the whole concept of evidence. He understands nothing except raw bloody power, and he wants to own MORE raw bloody power.

We do have definitive evidence that the climate is changing, because the climate has always been changing. But we have ABSOLUTELY ZERO evidence for the CO2 hypothesis, and a WHOLE FUCKING PILE of evidence that CO2 is NOT the leading variable. Changes in the earth's core, probably connected with a switchover of the magnetic poles, are the leading variable, and nothing we can do will alter that. We are simply living through the upstroke side of a long cycle, a long return to the historical norm. (Incidentally, plants are trying to tell us that we're returning to the norm.)

We are spending trillions on activities that increase Goldman's share value. We should be spending those trillions on more dams, more nuclear power, and more farming.

Though Sir Vampire Cooper is clearly whoring after bloody murderpower, his argument is essentially empty and pointless. There is simply NO NEED for "empirical sociology" or "social engineering", whatever those terms might mean, because much more effective persuaders completely dominate the whole realm of behavior change.

These more effective persuaders are using actual physical engineering to accomplish their ends. Governments are using tanks and bombs to persuade Christians and Muslims to abandon their heretical beliefs. Dead heretics have unquestionably "changed their behavior." Advertisers and marketers and tyrants are using the highly refined video sequencing technology of TV, and the less refined popup technology of the Web, to force our product choices AND beliefs.

If you doubt that TV is highly refined, try a simple experiment. Turn off the TV entirely for a month. You'll find that you are able to examine all sorts of concepts and ideas with a comparatively open mind. Every single belief on every single subject had seemed to be either AUTOMATICALLY TRUE or OUTRAGEOUSLY FALSE while TV was in control. Now you can check the beliefs. Some of the AUTOMATICALLY TRUE shit will turn out to be actually true, some won't. Some of the OUTRAGEOUSLY FALSE shit will turn out to be actually false, some will turn out to be obviously true.

You can't get more effective than TV. It's maxed out. There's no way "empirical sociology" could improve it.

  Non-tautological Trump

When Trump said "outrageous" things about Mexicans, I was glad to hear someone talking about a subject that can't be talked about.

But his approach seemed oddly out of phase. The problem with Mexican immigration is not the Mexicans themselves. There are two separate problems, both caused by Repooflican and Democrat politicians who are more loyal to Mexico than to USA.

(1) Every Mexican worker who comes in, WHETHER LEGAL OR NOT, takes work from poor Americans. Mexico's economy and family structure are different from ours. The net effect is a huge difference in currency value that isn't mirrored by the exchange rate. Money paid to a Mexican who is sending it home to his family is worth far MORE than the same money paid to an American who is taking it home to his family. That's why Americans won't do the work for the "same" money. It's not the same money.

(2) We intentionally bring in Mexican gangsters to stir up trouble here, purely for the sake of creating crime and killing Americans. This is, of course, the basic purpose of Repooflicans and Democrats.

= = = = =

Now after the McCain "outrage", I'm more inclined to believe the folks who think Trump is an Agent Provocateur working for Dems, maybe for Hillary.

Trump's approach to McCain is just weird.

First, McCain isn't running this time, so he isn't a subject we need to discuss at all. Unlike immigration, he's completely irrelevant.

Second, the problem with McCain wasn't that he was captured. Getting captured is mainly the fault of overall strategy, not the soldier.

The problem with McCain was (and still is!) that he didn't learn the same lessons other soldiers learned. It's an absolute universal, known and written for 5000 years. Ex-soldiers HATE WAR because they've been in it. Ex-soldiers who go into politics become EXTREMELY CAREFUL about getting involved in war, which makes them good politicians. Other things being equal, you should prefer an ex-soldier in top political positions.

McCain breaks the universal rule all to hell. His war experience was harder than most, but he is the wildest warmonger ever. He wants to invade and occupy EVERY COUNTRY that insults Our Prophet Binyamin Netanyahu. He's always ready to send young men to kill and be killed ... but he's NOT ready to save OUR lives by interrogating an enemy.

He's crazy. Whether he's crazy because of his war experience or despite it is irrelevant. He's crazy.

Trump missed all of that, steering his audience into an utterly irrelevant track.

That's twice. Twice is enough.

= = = = =

Plaintive sidenote: It would be SO DAMN REFRESHING to hear JUST ONE FUCKING VOICE saying JUST ONE FUCKING TRUTH in public. JUST ONE. It hasn't happened so far in my adult life. Eisenhower said a few true things, but I was too young to hear them 'live'. FDR unquestionably said some true things, which is why I try to follow him.

  Using the circuits

Nothing especially meaningful here ... Just following cartoon tradition, taking Polistra out of the predicament that I left her in.

  Shimmering maps

Orwell based Newspeak on a rather narrow and specific set of distortions by Soviets. Pravda wasn't truth, Izvestia wasn't news, and the Democratic Peoples Republic of Whateveristan certainly wasn't democratic (whatever the fuck that means).

He stretched the idea for a good story, but didn't come anywhere near the universal shimmering distortions and inversals and convolutions of modern EU/UK/US.

= = = = =

Symbolic representations ... maps and blueprints and diagrams ... are useful for

(1) exploring new territory

(2) building things

(3) storing explorations and experimental results for later use.

Cartographers and architects understand these three purposes systematically and deeply. Electronic techs who use schematics understand 2 and 3 strongly but probably don't think much about 1.

To serve these purposes, symbolic representations need to be STABLE, MUTUALLY UNDERSTANDABLE, and UNAMBIGUOUS.

All of these needs are thoroughly trashed by Newthink and Newspeak. You can spot the trashing on any randomly chosen Tumblr page. (1) STABLE: It's 2015 yo! (2) MUTUALLY UNDERSTANDABLE: It's a black thing. You wouldn't understand. (3) UNAMBIGUOUS: Sick beat yo.

All three purposes and all three requirements apply to words as well, though we don't typically think of words this way.

Words can be used to explore new mental territory.

Words can form a contract with a builder; or legislation that instructs cops; or a judge's instructions to a jury.

Words can store your new ideas or the jury's verdict.

To perform these functions, words must be broadly stable so that a neologism can be understood in context, and so a contract or a law will continue to make sense next year. Words must be mutually understandable and unambiguous so the readers or the jury or the police know what the author or legislature intended.

Professor Polistra and friends illustrate the use of a STABLE and UNDERSTANDABLE and UNAMBIGUOUS diagram. A schematic is probably the most universal form of communication, free of all national or cultural 'dialects'. Danbo and Happystar are learning to match the schematic symbols with the actual components on the printed circuit board.

Whoops ... Looks like Prof Polistra is due for a Contract Revision soon.

Revision accomplished. Happystar and Danbo are not happy with the new Substitute Teacher. It doesn't matter if Polistra is happy or not. She has been Revised.

In the new world nothing is stable. Everything is shimmering, wiggling, switching places. Words, diagrams, facts, categories, all shimmering, all transforming.

Only one thing is constant:

The sound of a jackboot.
STOMPING on a human face.
Forever.

= = = = = = = = = = = = =

A day later: Some egregious academic has developed a "language" called Toki Pona that forms the PERFECT vehicle for the modern O'Briens. It violates all three requirements by definition. Toki Pona has only 123 lexemes, requiring each talker to make up long periphrastic combinations to say anything useful. Everyone's metaphors will be different all the time. No stability, no mutual comprehension, total ambiguity. In a sane society this would just be completely and totally useless, but in today's US/UK/EU STRONG it will be an ideal tool. Your version of a sentence will always disagree with the official version as of this picosecond, UNLESS you have privileged access to the official way of thinking.

  Tautological T-bones

Headline: Scientists have come up with a solution to soaring demand for protein and it's INSECTS.

This is really really dumb.

China is where the "soaring demand for protein" is happening.

What Chinese demand is BEEF. They do not demand beef because it's protein. Chinese already have lots of protein in their diet, from beans to eggs to chicken. They demand beef because it's BEEF. You aren't going to substitute insects for cows because insects are not cows.

It's unquestionably true that cattle are an inefficient use of resources.

A better solution is to persuade more people that you can get along just fine without killing animals. You can't get along just fine without exploiting animals for milk and eggs. Without dairy products and eggs you have to spend entirely too much time and effort on food, and the results are unsatisfactory.

You can apply a similar rule with plants. As long as you eat only flowers and nuts and fruits, not roots, you're exploiting the plants but not killing them. You're taking the parts that the plants want you to take, though arguably you're cheating Nature's purposes by pooping the seeds into a sewage system instead of the ground.

(I've been following both of these rules since I started learning about the astounding intelligence of plants.)

  Fair question

Headline: What happened to science in Islam?

It's a fair question, and part of the problem is real. From 800 to 1100 AD, Islam led the way in science. Since then, most scientific activity has been in Europe and China and US.

But both of the authors who asked the question are missing a definitional point.

The earlier Islamic golden age was focused on practical subjects. Engineering, medicine, agriculture, geography, chemistry. EXPERIMENTAL science that actually helped merchants, manufacturers and ordinary people. Muslims are still highly active in those areas, though admittedly less active than you'd expect by simple proportion. Look at any engineering journal, mechanical or electrical or hydraulic, and you'll see a whole lot of Abduls and Rezas among the authors.

The golden age ended when we bombed Muslim countries down to bedrock the first time in 1200.

Since 1890, Euro and Chinese science has moved away from practicality and toward outright schizophrenia. Quantum nonsense, multiverses, string theory, "global warming", economics. Since 1960, Nobel prizes are mainly given for lunacy.

Muslims haven't joined the insanity. They continue working in practical areas that will help commerce and help ordinary people, which is exactly what the Koran recommends.

And, of course, several Muslim countries that had previously contributed heavily to engineering are now war zones. USA STRONG, acting as Israel's reliable agent, has been bombing Muslim countries down to bedrock again. When you're dead or starving you aren't going to be writing many journal articles.

  The blood part

Supposedly the total of all national debts comes out to $28000 for each person in the world. Sounds like the same figure usually quoted for US only, but I guess that makes sense when you multiply both the numerator and denominator by about the same factor.

$28K is not a huge number. I'm a looooooooooooooong way from rich, but I could handle that.

However! If I paid it, I'd want something in return.

I'd want the government to GUARANTEE IN FUCKING BLOOD that it would treat me the same way it treats cool people. I'd want the ABSOLUTE UNTRAMMELED freedom to say anything I fucking want to say, just like Al Sharpton gets. And I'd want an IRONCLAD GUARANTEE of protection from the main tools of tyranny: blackmail and false accusations and stings. I'd want freedom to practice religion in public. I'd want a guarantee that officials would answer my questions RESPECTFULLY.

In other words, I'd want the government to ENFORCE THE FUCKING 1787 CONSTITUTION AS FUCKING WRITTEN instead of enforcing the collected alien genocidal psychotic garblings of black-robed saboteurs. If they fail, the blood part of the blood oath would take effect.

In other other words, people who pay their share of the debt would be citizens. People who don't pay would be residents.

  Voting for a candidate

Spokane sent out ballots this week for a mixture of propositions and candidates. For many years I've skipped all candidates, writing in Scrooge McDuck for all offices. The idea of voting for a candidate has become foreign. This time I actually voted for one real candidate, or more precisely against one.

Last year an inactive and useless non-satan who allegedly "represented" this side of town moved away, making no real difference because he hadn't really been there anyway. The turbosatan majority on the council immediately APPOINTED a fellow turbosatan to the vacant position, increasing their majority. The new turbosatan is extremely active on the side of evil, which hardly needs to be mentioned. Satan always works FAST.

Apparently the appointment was not permanent, because this week's ballot includes a special election for the position. One of the candidates appears to be active and serious and not entirely satanic, so it's worth making a mark for him. Maybe. Remains to be seen.

Sidenote: The county auditor made a point of advising voters not to write in Disney characters. Apparently my level of cynicism is becoming more common.

  The OSHA example

I mentioned OSHA yesterday. Made me think. OSHA is a dramatic exception to Parkinson's laws.

Most agencies, and most cause-based NGOs, obey Parkinson perfectly. They continue to grow and increase their tyranny for several decades after their original mission was accomplished or obsolete. EPA, Dept of Defense, CDC, feminism, NAACP, March of Dimes .... Thousands of examples from every conceivable goal and topic.

OSHA went the other way. When it started out in the '70s it was feared and ridiculed. I remember seeing and helping to circulate a Xeroxed** cartoon showing the "OSHA-approved bicycle", an unridable contraption of cushions, belts, pads, helmets, and flashing lights.

Everyone assumed, rationally enough, that OSHA would expand to control every aspect of life, prohibiting all normal activity.

But it didn't. It stayed within originally assigned boundaries, applying sensible rules that save actual lives in industrial workplaces.

If we could figure out why, maybe we could prevent the next tyranny.

= = = = =

** For a couple decades, digital image handling eliminated the cumulative degradation of passing along Xeroxed cartoons. Now we're back to cumulative degradation, thanks to iPhones that make it easier to take a screenshot or a camera pic than to locate and transfer a file.

= = = = =

Out of curiosity I looked at the overall Fed workforce. Surprisingly no Parkinson overall, which means that the Parkinsonian rogue agencies like EPA and TSA were growing at the expense of non-Park agencies like OSHA.

Chart starts at 1962. Violet is military, blue is civilian. Numbers x 1000, meaning that all of these numbers are in the range of 1.5 to 3.5 million. Excel here. When you consider that US population has multiplied by 1.7 since '62, these nearly flat lines become a powerful downward trend on a per capita basis.

The story in simple terms: LBJ expanded both civilian and military hugely, Nixon contracted both, Reagan expanded civilian only [STOP AND THINK ABOUT THAT!!!], Clinton contracted both. Other presidents had little effect. Food for thought: What happens to presidents who fire lots of bureaucrats and generals?

  Are we getting somewhere?

Local media are finally getting tired of FBI-created "terrorism". I doubt that the mediasatans have sussed out the scam, but they've clearly decided not to wallow in those stories.

Here's the headline list from KHQ's website this morning. The other TV stations are similar. John Lee, a non-FBI shooter within the local viewing area (who also shot 4) gets higher billing than the FBI-created "terrorist". Seems like an appropriate set of priorities, by old-fashioned journalism rules.

Are we finally making progress? Maybe!

  Duh, huh

"Science" news:
Recent research has warned of the health detriments associated with sitting for long stretches of time at the office, but what about the nearly half of all employees worldwide who are required to stand for more than 75% of their workdays? Prolonged standing is associated with short-term adverse health issues, including reports of fatigue, leg cramps, and backaches, which can affect job performance and cause significant discomfort. A new study published in Human Factors suggests that, over time, this type of sustained muscle fatigue can result in serious health consequences.
Duh.
“Long-term muscle fatigue caused by standing for long periods of time has not received much attention.”
Huh?

Standing has received a LOT of attention by employers and by agencies like OSHA. For 200 years, decent employers have tried to ease the pains and discomforts of standing.

If it's short on "scientific" attention, that's only because it was so obviously painful and troublesome. When you stand all day, you are unquestionably and consciously tired. Your feet hurt and your back hurts. When you sit all day (at least with enough breaks), you aren't physically tired.

Therefore it was important for medical researchers to locate the long-term problems of sitting. And therefore it's silly and wasteful to examine the problems of standing. Medical researchers have already done it thousands of times. Lancet, 1882, just one example.

  Attent-ions 2

I'm tired of reading and writing the same old assumptions leading to the same old conclusions.

This article by Thomas Wells is truly FRESH. It starts from the same notion that I was playing with here. ATTENTION is a deeply important form of energy, not just a reference to an aspect of behavior.

In my engineerish formulation,
Intuitively or childishly, it seems that there's something special about birds and mammals. Possibly all vertebrates, maybe a few top-grade invertebrates like cephalopods. Beyond those bounds it feels less likely.

Well then, what distinguishes those inner-circle animals from the others? If awareness is the essential quality, what's the measurable manifestation? Getting engineerish as usual: If awareness is the pressure, what's the flow? If awareness is the static field, what's the current?

I'd pick ATTENTION or FOCUS. We 'smarties' (birds, mammals, cuttlefish) are capable of PAYING attention to an INTERESTING object, and we are equally capable of RECEIVING attention. There's the flow.
In Wells's economoid formulation,
Expensively trained human attention is the fuel of twenty-first century capitalism. We are allowing a single industry to slash and burn vast amounts of this productive resource in search of a quick buck.

The advertising industry consists of the buying and selling of your attention between third parties without your consent. That means that the cost of producing the good - access to your attention - doesn't reflect its full social cost.
Wells is a deep-dyed satan, using she for all pronouns and frequently referring to the Goldman genocidal hypercrime of "global warming" as an automatic obvious fact, but even a satan can hit a good point occasionally.

Electric flow was considered a substance before the physical movement of ions was understood. Attention is clearly a substance in the same way, and we're awaiting the observation of physical attent-ions.

Sidenote: After encountering these clips about turtles, I have to broaden my earlier category of 'birds and mammals' to all vertebrates for sure!

  New improved!

I've noticed for a long time that Mediasatans have a Default Fetish, a subject that fills about 98% of their alien super-retard cranial cavity. Whenever current events are uninteresting, this Default Fetish comes to the surface and spews all over the innocent listeners.

US and UK have different Default Fetishes, though they are the same shape. It's easiest to see with the Lead Satan in each place. BBC's Default Fetish is the Holocaust. NPR's Default Fetish is Selma. Other mediasatans in each country follow BBC and NPR respectively, but with a less perfect emphasis.

A convective thought just now:

In the brief intervals when BBC isn't directly mourning the Holocaust, it HAMMERS the necessity for TOTAL CONFORMITY TO EU COMMANDS. In other words, BBC alternates between saying NO to the Third Reich and saying YES YES YES to the Fourth Reich. It's not about learning the lesson of German crimes, it's just planned obsolescence. Time to trade in those tired old Hitler salutes. Buy the NEW NEW NEW IMPROVED Merkel salute!

In the brief intervals when NPR isn't directly mourning Selma, it HAMMERS the necessity for TOTAL CONFORMITY TO SHARPTON COMMANDS. In other words, NPR alternates between saying NO to LBJ's race war and saying YES YES YES to Al Sharpton's race war. It's not about learning the lesson of racism, it's just planned obsolescence. Time to trade in those tired old ax handles. Buy the NEW NEW NEW IMPROVED baseball bat!

= = = = =

Just after writing the above, I bumped into this on UK Guardian's front page. Can't stay ahead of these fuckers.....

'Progressive EU Reform', of course, means More Europe! More Merkel! Bigger Jackboots! Longer cleats! YES! YES! STOMP HARDER, FRAU MERKEL! MY FACE ISN'T COMPLETELY PULVERIZED AND LIQUEFIED YET!

  Generic localism, buffalaxed.

A nice contrast to my heartfelt love for a specific actual neighborhood as expressed in previous item.

KREM-TV, formerly part of the Belo empire, has been subsumed in a segment of Gannett called Tegna. Tegna looks suspiciously like a partial anagram of Gannett. At any rate, their webcasts have changed slightly, with two Localist Songs substituting for unbought ad intervals. Tegna seems to be proud of these Localist Songs.

Shit. These songs are generic, applying equally to anyplace or noplace. They're like Miss America Contestants who pick their "native" city for strategic benefit without ever seeing the "native" city.

I've never been able to parse rock-n-roll into anything resembling English, so I just had to buffalax one of the Localist Songs.

Let's go a big world,
And all eleven are like the doctors,
That put your head onto the big screen,
And never cottage cheese always ice cream.
Dreeeeeeam? Hah!

Oh I can't take a place and give me a head,
It gives the last one back and gets out of bed,
Dibadee dib and dibadee dib,
Set it out can't get enough,
His right evil make it Joe!

Joe! Joe! Joe!
This is a ho, oo oo oo oo.
This is a place, oo oo oo oo.
We think it out oo oo oo oo,
Sing it out, take it out, cheese it out...

Yeah? Hah! This is a ho!

I think Joe must be the guy who brought the ice cream.

More seriously, I should be happy they didn't try to personalize the songs. Over the decades songwriters have tried to personalize (civicize?) songs, mainly for phonetic purposes like Kokomo or Kalamazoo. None of these songs are really about the named city; they include none of the local landmarks or characteristics. Only NYC has truly local songs because songwriters never leave NYC.

Later addendum: A local newspaper columnist turned up this song about Spokane. Written to connect with Nixon's Expo 74. Singer Bob Bellows was clearly trying to do the Tom Jones sexy lounge lizard thing, but completely failed. Since Tom Jones was already a complete failure, this is quite an achievement. Failed fail. The tuning is multiply wrong in a way that literally made me dizzy. Like driving on a rough road with a mix of bias and radial tires.

  Global hell, local heaven

Up there at national and international level, the alien elites are roaring at light speed into newly discovered orbits of evil and looniness. Losing their tickets to hell. Even Roy Cohn, CEO of Hades LLC since his 1986 LBO, won't accept these entities.

Down here at ground level, ordinary humans are kind and respectful. We yield when needed, help when needed, shout when needed. We get along. We allow for imperfections and try to control our own imperfections.

Up there in the banks and temples, pure raw bloody chaos. Down here in the neighborhood, heaven.

Convective thought #3

The Holmes trial is wasting a huge amount of money and time on a concept that no longer exists.

Originally the concept of Non Compos Mentis had nothing to do with psychopaths, sociopaths, bipolars, or any of those types. It applied strictly to extreme retards, IQ probably less than 50. Genuine idiots don't connect cause and effect, can't see that mashing another person with a hammer makes the person stop living. This doesn't mean that the idiot "can't distinguish right from wrong". He may well be sad that the other person has stopped living. It only means that his sadness won't prevent him from hammering a person the next time he feels like it.

Every living thing knows the difference between right and wrong. A bacterium knows the difference.

An extreme retard knows the difference, but he won't learn from ordinary penalties. That's the objective point. In modern times these extreme retards are called "journalists", and they are still immune from prosecution.

Above IQ 50, everyone knows the difference and everyone can learn from experience.... with one major exception. A real psychopath knows the difference and always chooses evil. Real psychopaths are rare, but Holmes appears to fit the category. Highly intelligent, capable of complex planning, always planning maximal harm. There are only two proper destinies for this type. Kill them quickly or elect them as politicians.

So the "death" penalty decision is backwards. The jury is asked to put Holmes into a mental institution if he needs to be killed or elected; or put him into an especially expensive prison for life if he can be reformed. In either case his presence will provide lifetime careers for several highly paid shrinks and lawyers.

Update next day: Well, the jury has decided on the more expensive of the two choices. Not much practical difference; in either case Holmes will be confined for the rest of his life. Under the "death" version, the ACLU satans will be forcing new hearings and trials every week or so, costing the state a couple billion by the time Holmes dies a peaceful and natural death. Under the "insane" version, the ACLU will not generate trials, and his confinement will only cost a few extra staff members and a couple extra shrinks. Maybe 10 million over his long and comfortable life.

All of this could have been avoided if someone in the theater had been armed and ready to shoot. But as we know, the theater was designated and advertised as a Free Kill Zone.

= = = = =

8/8 update: I see the jury has chosen the comparatively cheaper coach-class "life" sentence. Good. This will be somewhat less trouble and expense for the state. With the first-class life sentence (the "death" brand), a dozen lawyers would have been slaving away constantly for 40 years, generating a new "appeal" every week, and each "appeal" would have to be fully tried at state level then run up through the Federal satans. This way the lawyers will only generate "appeals" once a year or so, which will create only one or two lifetime lawyer careers. Holmes will be in an insane asylum no matter what happens. Only the name differs.

  Obsolete

Someone asks if Antichrist Francine is a Marxist.

He quotes Francine:
In light of these clarifications, we can hear the Pope's words with greater understanding. He asks, "Do we realize that that system has imposed the mentality of profit at any price, with no concern for social exclusion or the destruction of nature?" He is not speaking here of the market as such, but of a deeply immoral attitude that has seized the hearts of too many who use the market. And he complains, "An unfettered pursuit of money rules. The service of the common good is left behind. Once capital becomes an idol and guides people's decisions, once greed for money presides over the entire socioeconomic system, it ruins society, it condemns and enslaves men and women."
Leaving aside my usual crap about Satan and Antichrist for a moment and treating Mr Bergoglio as a plain political leader ... The quote is an excellent description of the evils of capitalism, but it's a bad analysis. It assigns an obsolete cause to the current problem.

The obsolete cause is PROFIT. When capitalists actually pursue PROFIT, their rapacious greed is automatically restrained, automatically channeled toward good ends. When you're running a REAL BUSINESS that actually makes things or provides services, you maximize profit by keeping your customers happy and keeping your employees loyal and contented.

Modern US/UK/EU corporations have ceased running real businesses, and they no longer seek to maximize PROFIT. They are seeking to maximize SHARE VALUE, which means their sole goal is to ELIMINATE products and services and employees.

Greed for money is NOT the problem. Channeling greed toward PROFIT leads to a society with sufficient balance and opportunity. Channeling greed toward COUNTERFEIT and STOCK MANIPULATION leads to the current maximal evil.

Sharia law understands this point and places EXTREMELY SPECIFIC requirements on capitalists to insure balance. Christianity fails to understand and fails to restrict, which is why the Christian-sourced US/UK/EU can't restore balance.

  Missing antonym

Another popup thought.

Reading an article about the Woodill Wildfire, one of those fiberglass kit cars that were popular in the early '50s. Woodill was a Willys dealer who designed the car with the goal of persuading Willys to sell it as their official sports car. Toledo didn't bite on the idea, so Woodill contracted with Glasspar and local machine shops and sold a few hundred Wildfire kits on his own.

The Wildfire body was especially pretty, and the assembled car must have been especially fun to drive because Willys running gear was lively, crisp and economical.

The article was focusing on one particular car, believed to be Woodill's first running prototype. It has been passed down among collectors for 60 years, and at the time of writing had "only 40,000 miles" on the odometer.

Wait! ONLY? For a '52 Chevy sedan, 40K would be ONLY. But for a unique prototype, instantly collectible, with lots of peculiarities, 40K is ________.

What's the opposite of ONLY? In this context ONLY means "a remarkably small". How do you say "a remarkably large"? There isn't a word for it!

= = = = =

Few days later: Curbside Classics did a little feature on a Renault Caravelle, which got my Renault genes to stand up and salute ... and in the comments, a Brazilian mentioned that the Willys Interlagos was based on the Caravelle. I'm reasonably familiar with the Willys do Brasil, but hadn't heard of the Interlagos. Googled it and had a pure cargasm. OOOOOOOH! I WANNIT I WANNIT I WANNIT! Unfortunately it's totally unavailable. Made in small quantities in the late '60s, never exported to US. Well, I can dream. Maybe I'll try to make a Poser model to discharge the cargasm.

  Sources and sinks

A sort of convective popup thought....

Commies constantly worry about the effects of money on government. EG Hillary's Citizens United, fraudulently rebranded as Repooflican Citizens United. But the same commies do NOT worry about the effects of money on science and religion.

The effects are the same everywhere. This is an extremely old piece of human nature, not remotely mysterious or secret. When huge floods of money are pouring from a few golden faucets, everyone obeys the owners of the golden faucets and ignores other sources of money.

Parkinson specified the effects in the realm of science back in the '30s, and it's grown MASSIVELY worse since then. Approx quote: "When an organization has a brand new building with marble floors and all imaginable equipment, it's dead. Innovation happens in rough surroundings." A feature on Tombaugh and Pluto includes a single picture that proves Parkinson's point. Tombaugh is sitting in the control seat of a giant telescope. He's holding a jury-rigged control box, and the ropes holding him up are dangerously frayed. The picture shows exactly why Tombaugh and his coworkers got things done. They weren't receiving Big Money and Big Mandates. Nobody was forcing them to spend half their time on Safety And Diversity Training and the other half on proving Multiverse Theory. All of their time and energy went into plain old astronomy.

Another good example is the auto industry. From 1920 to 1930 cars didn't change much because money was pouring in. Manufacturing became more efficient, but the cars were the same. When the Depression struck, money stopped pouring. Carmakers had to DO something or starve. So they did. 1940 cars are drastically different from 1930 in appearance, performance and efficiency.

If you're going to worry about the effects of receiving a flood, you should SPECIFICALLY stop worrying about the Feds. Think sources and sinks, batteries and loads. Input money has no effect on the Feds because the Feds have their own counterfeit press. The Feds DON'T NEED ANYONE ELSE'S MONEY because the Feds ARE the input. The overabundant flow of counterfeit FROM the Feds (and FROM the Euro equivalents) is the major source of everyone else's problems. Countries, colleges, businesses, and lower-level governments shape their performance to obey the infinite lunacy of USA STRONG and EU.

= = = = =

Sidenote:

I understand this only too well. I'm just as vulnerable as anyone to the floods. I've been there, and finally managed to wade out.

Uncharacteristically, I've also seen it from the other side. A couple years ago, news mentioned a biology researcher in Seattle who had a possible solution to the idiot unreal fraudulent criminal nonexistent "problem" of trace phosphorus in the water. The monstrous genocidal infinitely illegitimate dys"government" of Spokane has decided to spend TWO HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS on all sorts of pointless expensive projects to satisfy the EPA Terrorist Army's demands for zero phosphorus in river output. This researcher needed SEVENTY THOUSAND to complete his study of a vastly cheaper solution. He was working within a university, and unsurprisingly he didn't get a desired grant from government. I wrote to him and mentioned the possibility of crowdfunding, and said I'd start the pot with $3000, maybe more. He couldn't see the potential because he was phase-locked onto the official grant system.
