Tanh countries
Think piece in 'Sputnik news' about the differences between Ukraine and Belarus. Not exactly separated twins, but still a good parsing of constants and variables. On paper, Ukraine and Belarus look similar in geography and culture. Both have effectively been part of Russia through most of history, with brief scattered periods of independence. But their post-Soviet history has diverged sharply:

From Soviet times and through the present, ordinary Russians' descriptions of their Belarusian neighbors have spoken of a calm, organized and disciplined people. Russian internet regularly flashes with excitement over YouTube videos showing tourists to Belarus commenting on how fallow fields and villages in disrepair on the Russian side of the border are soon replaced with tidy villages, tractors in the fields and neat haystacks on the Belarusian side.

This sense of calm and collectedness seems to translate to politics as well, with Belarusians proving themselves again and again to be averse to revolutionary political fervor. While Russians clamored for Yeltsin, who promised in 1990 that Russia would be richer and stronger independently, Ukrainians voted in their majority for independence in 1991, nine months after a majority had voted to stay. Unlike its two East Slavic brothers, Belarusians did not have a powerful revolutionary leader, nor did they hold a referendum.

Unlike Ukraine, which has gone from one of Europe's greatest industrial and agricultural powerhouses to a failing state within a quarter century, Belarus preserved its Soviet economic legacy, and built on it. The country was the first in the former Soviet space to restore its Soviet-era economic and social indicators, preserving its massive state industries and saving and investing in its agricultural sector. Belarusian tractors, refrigerators, meat and potatoes continue to find an eager market in Russia, while Ukraine, once known for world-class airplanes, advanced rocketry, metallurgy, and agricultural goods, struggles to obtain basic ISO certification for its products.

Leads me to a new thought about the meaning of a word that I use a lot: Experimental.

We restless Westerners are accustomed to calling ourselves Experimentalists. We get tired when things work properly, so we do risky shit to make things work badly or to blow the whole fucking universe up. We pick up some bizarre theory that has already been disproved a trillion times. We follow the theory until it inevitably fails or smashes a considerable piece of the universe. Then we get crazier, picking up an even wilder delusion. Exponential, not experimental. Always heading away from centerline, constantly accelerating.



This is not Nature's version of experimentation. This is not why Nature equipped all living things with the ability to try new shit. Nature's purpose is to find the optimum, to reach an asymptote given current conditions, and stay there. When current conditions change, we sense the pull of a delta, and we try small changes until we reach a new asymptote. Tanh. Always heading toward optimum.



Belarus is a Tanh Country. Experimentalists in the proper natural way. They realized that the Soviet system was working well enough, and semi-dependence on Russia was working well enough. They had useful jobs and their products were bringing in cash from outside. Good enough. Make small adjustments, stay there. Tanh.

Relevant sidenote: Belarus tractors have been a familiar sight in Kansas and Oklahoma since the '70s. They weren't considered foreign or Commie; they were just good tractors. And just for fun, Youtube is full of old Belarus tractors getting the damn job done under all sorts of impossible conditions. Search for "MTZ-52" or "MTZ-82".

  Good little Belarus
In the midst of the increasing fog of war I lost track of good Belarus. I somehow got the impression that Lukashenko had surrendered to the Chinese lockdowns. Folks in Europe, closer to the situation, didn't lose track. They count Belarus along with Sweden as the only holdouts.

So Sweden is the only POSITIVE surprise, and Belarus is the only POSITIVE non-surprise.

I'd been following Belarus for years and admiring its steadfast adherence to the GOOD parts of the Soviet tradition. Of course I'd also been admiring Putin for the same, but he surrendered to Satan.

So it's time for a revised FINAL Sorosia map. Until now the map was keeping track of changes, not steady states. Countries like Sweden that had been Sorosian for decades remained white. Countries like Italy that (ever so briefly) moved out of Sorosia turned green.

And here's the Final Solution. Everything except Sweden and Belarus turned to Satan. Sweden is the biggest change, from the leading edge of Satan to the leading edge of God. Belarus also counts as a change; I had previously shown it as uncolored because it was steadily on God's side, but in this context holding steady is a relative change for the better.


And as always Korea and Japan are off the map, off the planet. Koreans and Japs are a different species. They remained sane in their own alien way, but they were never susceptible to the Soros virus.

Provocative generality from Peter Hitchens:

If you have at any time wondered if you would have conformed or rebelled against the consensus, at *any* of the great turning points of the last century and a bit, I think you now know.

Well, it's not so simple. I've been rebelling LOUDLY AND CONSISTENTLY FROM THE FUCKING START of this fake emergency, but I was firmly conformed to the idiot consensus in the 9/11 fake emergency. I bit hard, wanted to wipe Muslim "terrorists" from the face of the earth. I bashed friends who didn't bite, disdaining them as "truthers". I didn't fully recover from the idiocy until I threw away the TV in 2010.

In science and economics I can spot falseness instantly. In politics and military matters I'm snookered every fucking time. I never learn.

Hitchens disproves his own generality, all within today's Twitter feed.

He doesn't think the Soros attack on Belarus is motivated by Lukashenko's sanity.

Somebody asks exactly the right Constants and Variables question:

Why is Belarus getting so much attention all of a sudden, they have been this way for many years. Is it because they didn’t obey lockdown rules from a higher power ???

Hitchens answers:

No, they have just had a rigged election.

This is blatant nonsense by basic logic. Constant: Every election in every country is rigged. Real opposition candidates are never allowed. This particular election shouldn't be the reason for a sudden Color Revolution. There's a WILDLY OBVIOUS VARIABLE in Lukashenko's maintenance of real science and real health and real sanity while the rest of the world commits suicide.

Madman Lincoln supposedly said you can fool some etc. He wasn't warning people against Deepstate, he was advising future Deepstates on improving their techniques. He was telling them to hit every type of mind and personality from every possible angle, in order to fool as many people as possible. And they took the advice. Some of the people will bite on each new type of crime, and if you vary the crimes enough, you'll get almost everyone.

BUT: There's a counterargument to the Belarus logic. If Soros wants to eliminate a shining example of sanity, he should kill Sweden. Belarus is obscure. Lukashenko's long record of courage and sanity isn't well known. I happened to learn about it earlier because I was buying old Soviet radios on Ebay and got curious about the present condition of Belarus. Sweden is a much sharper counterforce to US/UK insanity because it resembles US/UK in most other ways. The rigged election is meaningless, but Soros presumably has his own calculated reasons for picking off Belarus first.

Beautiful example of the Western "mind" at work, which is incapable of understanding human differences or regions or borders or nations. It's all one mushed-together average.

On July 4, a Swedish public relations firm used a light plane to dump 879 teddies bearing slogans supporting human rights over Belarus.

The invasion of the toys into Belarus airspace prompted the president, Alexander Lukashenko, to sack his air defence chief and head of the border guards.

According to Sweden's foreign minister, Carl Bildt, Mr Lukashenko has now expelled his country's ambassador, Stefan Eriksson. Stockholm retaliated by telling Belarus its ambassador is 'not welcome' in the Scandinavian country.

Mr Bildt said the Lukashenko regime had expelled his country's envoy 'for being too supportive of human rights'.

No, fuckhead Bildt. Belarus expelled your ambassador because you committed AN ACT OF WAR against a SEPARATE NATION.

In the bizarre demented imperial arrogant Western "mind", Belarus is not a nation. All humans are identical, therefore all humans are identical to Carl Bildt. All humans have the same tastes and needs as Carl Bildt. Thus Carl Bildt is perfectly justified in invading any part of The Planet to spread Feminism, Critical Queer Studies, Global Warming pseudoscience, and Multiculturalism. There is no boundary between Carl Bildt and other humans; all other humans are subsumed within Carl Bildt's galactic infantile ego.

For those who are too lobotomized to understand the concept of NATIONS, just turn it around. Imagine that Belarus or some other country, unhappy with our culture and government, sends a plane to New York without permission, and drops 879 teddy bears on New York.   Why do you need trade agreements?
The sneaky snaky demonic dysgovernment of Britain is still pretending that Brexit is "being negotiated". By now everyone understands that it won't happen. It's a cruel fraud and a criminal hoax. As usual in Sorosia, the people "voted" in an "election" that was never meant to count.

Convective thought: Why do you need ANY negotiations? If you have a product or service that people want, and the price is good, people will buy it.

Example: I've bought old Soviet radios on Ebay from sellers in Belarus. Belarus doesn't have any trade agreements with USA**. It's applying to join WTO but hasn't been approved. Sellers in Moldova are also common on Ebay. Moldova barely counts as a country, doesn't have a serious government.

Trade occurs EASILY without trade agreements.

So just GET THE FUCK OUT of EU and start trading with countries that want to trade. Buy shit from countries that have shit you want. Sell shit to countries who want your shit. Let the agreements follow the reality. If two countries want to screw around with negotiations, they should screw on the basis of PROVEN supply and demand.

IT'S NOT FUCKING COMPLICATED.

** There's a better example of large-scale commerce with Belarus when it was part of the USSR. Belarus tractors were sold in Oklahoma in the '60s and '70s, even though we didn't have any "legal" trade treaties. Belarus tractors were popular because Belarus tractors were GOOD tractors at a GOOD price. If US had wanted to protect its own tractor industry, it could have simply halted the import at the border. That's what borders are for. No treaty needed.

  Resisting Soros
I like to keep track of Belarus, a rare example of a modest 'good enough' country that understands limits. Belarus basically retained the Soviet system in its final soft form because it WORKS.

How does a country resist the Sorosians? Russia didn't resist at first; the 1991 coup was the first Soros coup. Putin is heroically pulling away from Soros. Belarus never succumbed, so it doesn't need heroic efforts now. What's the secret?

Belarus is branching out from agriculture and heavy machinery to software. Not overly surprising. Soviet bloc programmers pursued their own path in the '80s by necessity, which gave them superior skills and a special regard for UX/UI. See Eastern Orthodox Editors, or see Irfan.

A gaming company in Belarus made a connection with actor Steven Seagal whose ancestors came from Minsk. Seagal visited to make some sort of cameo-appearance arrangement in the game (stories aren't clear about this), and got a personal visit with the president. "American" media mocked the event because we have to mock everything remotely connected to Russia, but the video shows a simple human encounter with typical heavy-handed Slavic hospitality. I'd expect a celebrity like Seagal to mock the event even while participating. Nope. No multi-level irony. He's just there, simply enjoying the location and the locally grown food and the companionship.

Maybe that's the secret of resisting globalism. Hospitable and comfortable localism.

An intriguing item from Belarus. For once, this isn't about Lukashenko or "viruses"!

A group of Hasidim in Belarus were trying to make a pilgrimage to a holy site in Ukraine. Ukraine wouldn't let them in, so they got stuck in a 'neutral zone' until they could filter back through the red tape of border crossings.

As BelTA reported earlier, over 1,000 Hasidic pilgrims gathered in the neutral zone between Belarus and Ukraine. They were traveling to the holy site in the city of Uman, Ukraine. The Novi Yarylovychi checkpoint has been closed until 27 September. The Jews remained at the Ukrainian border in the hope of reaching their destination, where they planned to celebrate the New Year according to the their national calendar.

The incident isn't especially important or injurious to the Hasidim; it just shows clearly where they are welcome and where they are unwelcome. They're welcome in Soviet Belarus and unwelcome in "free" "democratic" Ukraine.

Belarus is known around the world as the country that makes the world's biggest dump trucks, extracts potash ore, produces lasers and optical electronics, micro-chips and electric vehicles, a country where information technology has made tremendous progress. Belarus also harnesses the energy of the peaceful atom. Belarusian scientists have set up their own research laboratory in Antarctica, take part in the Large Hadron Collider project. Belarus has joined the club of space powers, due to which Minsk hosted the International Congress of Association of Space Flight Participants in 2018.

These achievements can be compared to elite sport. They are important. However, real science should first of all serve people and improve their quality of life. Therefore, we highly appreciate the efforts of agricultural scientists whom we owe great harvests, milk and meat yields. Our food industry has achieved international recognition as Belarusian products are a sensation on many markets.

Nuff said.

  Disproves the author, proves something more interesting
RealClearScience linked this article disputing the supposed benefits of breastfeeding. The author tries to show that the correlations are mainly due to innate differences. In rich countries, richer people are more likely to breastfeed. Their babies have innate advantages since healthy and attractive people are more likely to get rich, plus the advantages of more leisure and better neighborhoods and health care.

Makes good sense. I was ready to go along with the argument.

BUT: The author cites as proof a recent study in Belarus. The study followed breastfed and formula-fed infants from 1991 to 2001. Since I'm curious about Belarus as the last true Soviet country, I read the actual article.

It doesn't prove the author's point at all. It looks like a pretty well controlled experiment in a country with low inequality and uniform ethnicity. The results show definite advantages for breastfeeding.

Despite our initial overestimate of the incidence of gastrointestinal tract infection, the risk of such infection was reduced by 40% in the intervention group. This represents a clinically substantial reduction in risk of this important cause of infant morbidity and confirms recent results of a small randomized trial in Mexico

The article also incidentally confirmed the blessings of the Soviet system, which are gradually being lost as the system fades.

An uncontaminated water supply is ensured and monitored throughout the republic by public health authorities, and hospital clinics are abundant and readily accessible, even in rural areas. ... The prolonged (approximately 3 years in most cases) obligatory maternity leave and absence of day care centers for infants in Belarus probably also played a role. ... These effects occurred against a background of a higher-than-expected breastfeeding duration in the control group. The latter may well be attributable to deteriorating economic conditions in the country during the trial and the higher costs of formula feeding.   No more V day
For the last 6 years Polistra has been celebrating V-day on May 9, marking the victory of the ANTI-NAZI ALLIES in WW2. Putin was rebuilding the ANTI-NAZI alliance, since US and UK had joined the NAZI Axis under Führer Soros.



No more. Putin has joined the Axis of Holocausters, along with everyone else except Sweden and Belarus. Sweden is an absolutely unique and total switch, while Belarus is the sole carryover of the proper Soviet tradition.

Later half-baked thought: Sweden and Belarus have three things in common, but the variables are so tangled up that these are probably meaningless. Both are "socialist" as seen by US "conservatives", and both engage in some degree of central planning, and both have retained their own industry. Still, I can't see any sort of pattern. Other centrally planned countries and own-industry countries locked down. The US states that avoided lockdown are definitely at the looser end of the planning axis, but all have plenty of real physical production. (Farms, oil, manufacturing.)

Earlier I posited taxation as important, and it still seems important. When a government depends on taxes from real production, it will be more reluctant to shut down real production.

This is THE question that deserves serious attention if we get a brief break between this panic and the next scheduled panic. Is there any ideology or decision-making method or culture or ethnicity that determined the choice? Or is it purely the personality of the ruler? At the moment personality seems to be the only 'uncrossed' variable, but others may show up on later examination.

Belatedly adding Turkmenistan to the map of sane countries. This isn't a newly recovered sanity. Turkmenistan belongs with Sweden and Belarus and Japan and Korea as SANE FROM THE START, never surrendering to Satan. The sources I was reading didn't recognize it earlier. I apologize and correct the error now.




The leader's attitude is similar to Lukashenko in Belarus. Trust your body, don't trust the globalist experts. REAL SCIENCE. Like Belarus, Turkmenistan is among the Soviet 'time capsule' countries, which seems to be a relevant variable but not the only variable.   Quick review of Veras 225
Once a year or so I buy a New Toy, usually a Soviet product. This year's toy is a Veras receiver, made in Belarus and sold by an Ebay trader in Belarus.

There's an excellent review of the Veras in Vremax's blog.

I'll echo his comment:

Veras radios made by the Grodno Radio Factory (which is no more, thank you international capitalists) were clones of the famous Soviet-era OKEAN (meaning Ocean) radios.

Belarus has done better than most countries at maintaining its Soviet-era advantages, but globalism always kills you in the end.

I can only add one item he didn't cover.



This is a thoroughly modern receiver, mostly discrete transistors with one IC for the band-selector function. Hitting any band button turns the radio on. The on-off button (white) is effectively only the Off button. Sound is excellent, with separate bass and treble tone controls. Tuning is easy and consistent, and it picks up one or two SW stations, which is as much as I can ask in this location. As I've noted before, Spokane is a dead spot for SW; and my house, next to a power line and clad with aluminum siding, is even deader.



One thing Vremax didn't mention: The two buttons on top are Squelch and AFC. The Squelch button is pressed here. It does seem to cut down on noise between stations. I can't tell if the AFC works because I can't pick up any distant stations that would fade.

The package includes a complete schematic, which is actually more interesting than the radio. On a rough count, it has 40 transistors, 40 regular diodes, and 10 varactor diodes. I've never seen varactors used so heavily.

The power supply section has a simple and elegant trick. When you plug in a 12VDC external supply, it goes in series with the secondary of the 220V input. So the 12 is free to be AC, or DC connected either way. The full-wave rectifier will turn all three possibilities into DC of the correct polarity.



However: This creates an obvious problem. When 12V is connected to the secondary, you can't have anything on the primary. If the mains cord is plugged in, everything will blow up; if not plugged in and the 12V supply is AC, you could get a 220V shock from the mains plug.



This mask plate prevents the problem. You can turn it three ways, for AC or 12V external or battery. You can't reach the 12V plug without removing the 220VAC plug from the radio.

Among all of my toys, the best SW receiver is still this little regen, built from an MFJ kit.



Regen does the best job of rejecting powerline noise and catching the VERY FEW stations that are available here.

Later semi-relevant sidenote: Recently I was feeling illish for a while, so used taxis to get around. One of the taxi drivers was complaining that her AM radio lost volume when she drove into this neighborhood. She had to turn up the volume knob considerably. I suppose her car's electric system could have failed at that moment, but it was a Toyota so that's unlikely.

Belarus, God's home base, has been maintaining a 'family capital' system for 5 years now. Putin picked up the idea more recently.

The family capital program has been running since 2015. A total of 86,963 large families in Belarus have opened family capital deposits since then. In 2020, the program was extended for another five years due to its effectiveness. Experts view the program as a means not only to support large families but also to raise the birth rate. The number of large families in the country has grown by 1.4 times since the launch of the program. Belarusians mostly use family capital to solve the housing issue.

This is a reinstatement of a Soviet practice.

** Footnote: I'm not really convinced about Uruguay. The article from Brazil was pretty clear about the legal normalcy. I looked at some online newspapers from Uruguay, and the pictures look thoroughly Mascoid. Athletes are unmasked while on the field, but everyone else is strangled. Turkmenistan, again judging crudely from a few online portals, looks half and half. Clearly there's no universal mandate, but schools appear to be requiring murder masks. There's no doubt at all about Belarus and Sweden. EVERYONE is breathing free in those two countries.

Belarus held a national election today. Western mediasatans are screeching that Lukashenko is "the last tyrant" and so on.

The people seem to disagree. Even one BBC correspondent finally had to admit that Lukashenko would win anyway because conditions are good enough.

And that's the key. Belarus hasn't been corrupted by Western winner-take-all Superstar syndrome.

It has (nominal) full employment, low national debt, strong manufacturing sector, strong household savings, a balanced national budget, very low Gini index. Tanh characteristics.

Still pondering the BIG variable.

Sweden and Belarus and Japan and Korea avoided lockdowns and stuck with REAL SCIENCE.

Everyone else committed genocide.

I've considered ethnicity, but it doesn't work. Belarus and Sweden are Euro. Korea and Japan and China are ethnically similar, and share a lot of cultural history. China was the SOURCE of the lockdown. Fail.

Personality of the leader is undoubtedly part of the picture. Fighting the rest of the world takes MASSIVE courage. But the apparent power of the four leaders is quite distinct. Lukashenko has been in power since before the Sorosian breakup. The current presidents of Japan and Korea have been in office for a couple years, with fragile majorities in parliament. Lofven is fairly new.

Here's one simple word that fits all four, but still doesn't work well as an overall explainer.

Fordism.

All four have relatively FLAT economic profiles, and all four have RESPECT FOR SKILLS.

All four are Tanh instead of Exp. They have a CEILING for economic distance between rich and poor. Other countries assume riches and power must be Exp, rising vertically to infinity.

Employers provide full-scale benefits, deserving lifetime loyalty and receiving lifetime loyalty.

Fordism respects and honors and trains the real skills needed for real work. Goldman and Bezos HATE real workers, viewing human employees as NEGATIVE EXTERNALITIES that must be ruthlessly cut down. Business must consist of PURE ABSTRACT NUMBERS and INFINITE SHARE VALUE.

Sweden has been Tanh for a long time. Belarus is a time capsule for Soviet economic practices. Korea and Japan picked up literal Fordism from MacArthur and ran with it, while we abandoned it.

All four are relatively you-first instead of me-first. This is the BIG difference from China.

How would this variable create the specific result? Natural Law. The energies of psychopaths are CONSTRAINED to serve employees, instead of running feral toward infinite expansion and infinite murder.

Now stretch the analogy to the breaking point as usual. Why was FDR able to take over USA and solve all of our problems? Why was he able to prosecute and limit the bankers? Because we were already halfway there. From NCR to Conoco to Elgin to Ford, flat economics and beneficial employment were widespread by 1920. Harding was able to pull back Wilson's Deepstate because he was firmly Fordist, and because major centers of economic power were also Fordist. He didn't have to fight them all. Coolidge allowed the NYC oligarchs to regrow, doing their usual evil. Stealing everything and killing everyone. After the mass murder in 1932, Fordism still had power in some industries and unions, so FDR didn't have to fight them all.

  Booker T Lukashenko
Lukashenko continues to provide a stark and healthy contrast to the pure evil and deception in the bound and gagged world.

He's making a series of speeches today for Knowledge Day, a Soviet holiday that marks the start of the school year.

In his speech at a vo-tech school in Baranovichi:

“If we start breaking each other over the knee, you know what will happen. There will be at least a civil war. We don't need that. But don't worry it won't happen,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. “I understand that things need to be better, that some things are in short supply. But we live as well as we can. There is no thievery, uncontrolled crime. It should be appreciated. Nobody will give us more than we can earn on our own.”

The last line especially reminds me of Booker T.

All the right points, no fakery. Normal people want and need to work. Normal people want to BREATHE and live a normal life. Normal people want SECURITY from crime. Normal people are not greedy. They live as well as they can, taking what they need and giving what others need. This is called CIVILIZATION.

The people of Belarus are uniquely privileged. Only three other countries allowed normal people to maintain a normal healthy life. All other nations participated in the holocaust to varying degrees, officially or unofficially. Belarus students are also privileged. They finished the previous year in strictly normal conditions, and they are starting this year at the normal time in strictly normal conditions.

Like any celebrity visit to a school, it's rehearsed. The students have put together exhibits and practiced their speeches. But note that the students talk to Lukashenko normally. He's just an adult like the teachers. (This is similar to Putin and AMLO.) Any US president in a school would be either All-Conquering Hero or Horrible Villain, depending on D or R party label. There wouldn't be any conversation at all.

And above all, NO MASKS and NO DISTANCING. Absolutely everything in Belarus is NORMAL.

  More normal life, more envy

Needless to say, everyone is normal. No Chinese distancing, no murder masks. Belarus tractors make a cameo appearance. As usual the older folks seem to appreciate his presence more than the youngsters.

Lukashenko says roughly: If we had people of this quality in Minsk, the country would be in better shape.

Minsk is where the Sorosian demons are attempting Anschluss, trying to bring Belarus into the holocaust. So far they're not gaining any meaningful progress.

A comparison struck me. Belarus is about the same size and population as the state of Washington. Can you imagine Mad Bomber Inslee touring farms? Can you imagine farmers appreciating his presence? Can you imagine him saying "If only we had more people like this in Seattle, we'd be okay."

I can imagine Culp saying it, and in fact he does say similar things.

  Partial answer?
Off-Guardian reports a sequence of events that I hadn't heard before. The president of Burundi did the same thing as the president of Tanzania. Kicked WHO out and stuck with real science and real health. His country stayed healthy.

But he didn't get a chance to stay healthy. He was murdered "by the virus", then instantly replaced by a globalist slave who imposed the universal lockdowns.

This halfway answers the big question I've been asking. What was the threat behind the order given to all world leaders? The threat was "You will die immediately and we will attribute your death to the virus that you supposedly failed to control."

Standard operating procedure for Inquisitions and Witch Hunts.

But this doesn't explain the other exceptions, Sweden and Belarus and Tanzania.

Another commenter noted that the Tanzanian president had a big military general standing beside him when he kicked out WHO, non-verbally informing the Sorosians that they would have to get through his defenses first. [I went back and looked at the video. Sure enough, a BIG general!]

Lukashenko of Belarus undoubtedly has a similarly loyal military, as well as loyal people. He has served the country well by maintaining the Soviet tradition.

This still doesn't explain the survival of Lofven in Sweden, who is new to power and has a fragile parliamentary majority and a weak military.

  Real science from Belarus
Last week I got twitchy, trying to read tea leaves and entrails. False idiotic alarm. Lukashenko is unquestionably holding firm.

Best of all, Belarus has just connected its new nuclear power plant to the grid, after about 8 years of careful construction and one year of testing.

China and Russia have been adding new REAL nukes in the last few years. The most recent new operational nuke in USA was Watts Bar in North Carolina, an additional reactor on an existing site. (And a nice aptronym.) This happened quietly in 2016, after a decade of pure destruction.

Later: Well, maybe there's reason for twitchiness after all. Lukashenko seems to be wavering on the "virus" after holding perfectly steady and normal for 8 months. Still hard to determine, still remains to be seen.
