Don't you really mean THEY?
A truly classic piece of prettily disguised genocide by someone named Laura Carroll.
On a recent trip to Mexico, I sat in the central square in Guanajuato watching a lively scene of children at play. Adorable as they were, I couldn't help but notice how many of them had pregnant mothers with two or more children already in tow. Scenes like this bring to mind the question of whether we have not only reached but already gone over a tipping point.
Bzzzt! TIPPING POINT! Bzzzt! MEXICO. Dark-skinned Catholics.
As humans, we have evolved as social creatures, and have a need to belong. And to belong, we want to be seen as "normal," as society defines it. These needs are reflected in our reproductive choices. Over generations, social and cultural conditioning has so strongly influenced us to believe that the human species is wired to want children. Our social evolution has bred staunch reproductive conformity, which did serve society at one time, but at 7+ billion and counting no longer does.
Bzzzt! SOCIAL CONSTRUCT JARGON!
Got it backwards, Comrade. The need to reproduce is NOT culturally conditioned. It's automatic in every single living thing. What's culturally conditioned is the pathological desire to kill babies, developed extremely recently in a few extremely rich extremely secular countries. In these countries the birth rate is already way below replacement rates. Except for the religious and dark-skinned minorities, who have not picked up your genocidal message.
We have an obligation to leave future generations as healthy a planet as possible. And the most powerful thing we can do to this end is reduce our reproduction.
Bzzzt! PLANET!
What you mean WE, white woman? WE have already reduced our reproduction. Don't you really mean THEY? Dark-skinned tradition-following strongly-religious THEY? Of course you do. You're following in the bloody trail of Margaret Sanger, Margaret Mead, and Rachel Carson.
What Comrade Carroll means is quite simple. She means
I HATE PEOPLE!!!! AND I ESPECIALLY HATE DARKIES AND RELIGIOUS PEOPLE!!!!! KILL ALL PEOPLE!!!! KILL RELIGIOUS PEOPLE FIRST!!!!!! THEN KILL DARKIES!!!!!! THEN KILL EVERYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! THEN KILL EVERYONE EXCEPT MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! I WANT IT ALL!!!! I WANT IT ALL!!!! ALL MINE! ALL MINE! ALL MINE! ALL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or, taking out the infantile screechiness and reducing it to classic Darwin, she means "I want MY subspecies to be the only one occupying this niche."
Aha! That's normal after all.
There are two ways to dominate a niche: you can reproduce massively and crowd out the other types, or you can kill off the other types. Comrade Carroll's white rich Gaian subspecies has stopped reproducing; it has
"personal journeyed" itself into stasis. So it must kill off the other types.
Why do they keep trying it?
BBC
announced that it's abandoning expensive and audience-less 3D video.
Why in the hell do they keep trying 3D?
The concept was invented, needless to say, by Wheatstone in 1830.
Every concept that has the slightest connection to symmetry or two-sided-ness was developed by Wheatstone in 1830.
Stereoscopic stills were hugely popular in the late 1800s, and the idea was applied to movies as soon as movies became somewhat commercial. It failed.
Repeat about a dozen times, through the 20th century with film and into the 21st century with digital video. Tried it, spent huge amounts of money, failed. Tried, spent, failed. Over and over.
The basic problem goes beyond technology, and I doubt it will ever be solved by technology.
When we move through the real world, our brain uses all sorts of cues and templates, immediate and remembered, to build a picture of our surroundings. The immediate focus of the eyes is just one element, and probably not the most important. The old stereoscope worked fairly well because the gadget forced you to focus on one fixed point and gave your eyes time to adjust. With a movie you don't have the real-world cues, you can't force the viewer to focus on a single point, and 1/24 second isn't enough time to adjust.
= = = = =
Historical sidenote: Modern tech types would do well to read
this 1856 book on Stereoscopes by David Brewster. He understood the variability and limits of binocular vision in a strictly experimental way, and developed several simple solutions to the problem.
Half-assed thoughts on order and beauty
This entry got me thinking.... What would happen if you tried to set up a moral code based on the 'Grand Blueprint' notion? (The hypothesis that all potential abilities of living things are present in the main genome, coded as
purposes or goals instead of end-user physical implementations.)

You'd start with an axiom
mainly based on observation:
The purpose of every living thing is to create order... and beauty.
The 'order' part is observable and measurable. Beauty is a stretch, but I think it's justifiable as a purpose of the original design. If beauty was not intended to be perceived, we wouldn't have sensory tools to perceive it.
This is what distinguishes living from non-living things. Non-living objects don't create order or patterns. They may move or change or deteriorate under the operation of wind, water, gravity and living things, but they never create.
I'm inclined to distinguish four stages or types of beauty, in a hierarchy from most common to least common:
(1) All cells create order
internally. They have an unspeakably complex set of internal pieces and interactions, continually operating to bring in raw
unordered elements and convert them to forms needed to maintain the internal order. When elements are no longer wanted, the cell excretes them. All multi-celled plants and animals add extra layers of internal dynamic order, from cells to tissues to organs to organism.
(2) Most multi-celled plants and animals use their bodies to create
externally observable order and beauty. They emit patterns of light and sound and chemical signals and electrostatic signals and magnetic signals. Plants build flowers and fruits to emit color and smell and static fields, chiefly to attract pollinators. Plants emit chemicals to repel competitors and predators. Animals emit all sorts of visual or auditory or olfactory signals to attract mates and repel competitors and predators.
(3) Many animals create order outside their bodies, building structures that continue to exist when the animal is dead or absent. At the simplest level, corals and
tunicates. In the arthropod world, webs and hives and nests of all sorts. Among birds and mammals, nests and beaver dams and houses.
(4) A few animals create structures or signals that are
not automatic, not solely for utilitarian purposes, presumably for the pure joy of creation. At the moment this category seems to include cuttlefish, some birds, and humans, though it will probably turn out to be much larger when we start looking.
= = = = =
Given that we have this unusual ability to create structures and systems and signals that are not completely pre-programmed, can we call some of these outputs good and some bad?
Restating the axiom: The purpose of life is to increase order and beauty. The assigned task of all living things is to produce patterns that make sense.
Therefore: If you are increasing order and beauty (beyond what your cells and tissues do automatically), you are doing good. If you are destroying order and beauty (beyond what is needed for your survival), you are doing bad.
I might use a
gradient to further quantify good and bad. If you live in a situation that already contains plenty of order and beauty, then your creation of order is a lower type of good. If you live in a situation where order and beauty are rare and hard to produce, then
your creation is a higher type of good.
If you are blessed with a special talent or a special authority, and you use the talent and authority to destroy order and beauty, or use it to create chaos and ugliness, you are Satanic.

Futility
Polistra's icon above includes a brief quote about futility. The majority of Egyptians are feeling the truth of that quote in deadly form.
Time to bring out the full text again. The audio is
here, clipped from a 1938 CBS broadcast just after Hitler took Austria.
Hitler's seizure of Austria demonstrates 3 things:
1. The futility of contracts with dictators.
2. Treaties signed at the point of a sword are useless. This invasion climaxes a series of violations of Versailles by Hitler. The other signatories never made meaningful response.
3. Demonstrates the futility of war as instrument for settling controversy. Twenty years ago we gave our blood, our treasure, to spread democracy across the world. Twenty years later we see the torch of world leadership being seized by Hitler. We cannot deny that Hitler is the leader of Europe. We tremble at what he will do next. We know what will become of religious liberty, both for the Jews and for the Catholics. It just will not exist. We know what will happen ... to other freedoms as well ...
Events are moving rapidly in Europe these days. ... England thought that by substituting the realistic actualities of Chamberlain for the idealism of Eden, it could stem the tide. Just two weeks later, England found it was too late. France thought it could rely on the "Steel Ring" it had placed about Germany. It now faces collapse of that ring. Even Mussolini looked with patronizing friendliness on his imitator; he now finds that the student has outgrown the master.
What does this mean for the average American? Certainly it leads to disillusionment with the instrument of war. We tried to preserve democracy in Europe once by going to war; we now know that war does not work.
[Quoting Emerson] Things refuse to be mismanaged long. Though no checks to a new evil appear, the checks exist and will appear. Nothing arbitrary, nothing artificial, can endure. Of all forms of government yet conceived, democracy furnishes the most useful agencies for fighting arbitary mismanagement. What we must do is preserve democratic methods in America. No doubt we will be importuned again to spend our resources in a futile effort to correct the failings of Europe. The inevitable law of which Emerson speaks will take care of Europe. What we must do is care for our own. Futility has ever been the nemesis of democracies. Never in the world's history has it been more necessary for democracy to work than here and now.
= = = = =[End quote from Schwellenbach]= = = = =
Futility is the nemesis of any system, not just democracy.
If you want an economic system to continue working, you have to insure that people who follow the system's implicit or explicit recommendations are rewarded. They must be able to feel some small degree of progress, some slight annual improvement. Our economic system has failed. For the last 35 years,
productive work has been punished. Productive jobs are disappearing fast. Destructive jobs and counterfeiting (i.e. banking) are lavishly rewarded.
If you want a moral system to work, it's the same. People who follow the precepts must see that evil is
occasionally punished. Good actions must at least be
respected if not explicitly rewarded. And we're failing there as well. Normal marriage, normal family life, is no longer honored. It's treated with suspicion and contempt. Fashionable counterfeits are lavishly rewarded.
Well then, why don't we have riots or at least alternate political movements? I dunno.
For one thing, our masters have developed a beautiful system of
symmetrical scapegoating. If you belong to the Goldman 'R' Team, you know that all the problems in the world are caused by the Goldman 'D' Team. If you belong to the Goldman 'D' Team, you know that all the problems in the world are caused by the Goldman 'R' Team. Just let OUR team get back in power, and we'll fix everything! By God, we'll do things differently! We'll continue 100% of the same policies that the OTHER team pursued, but we'll be wearing OUR team shirts while we pursue the same policies! This will solve all the problems caused by the policies that the OTHER team pursued while wearing THEIR team shirts!
In 2008, it looked like political action might break out of the team system. Occupy and Tea Party were formed to oppose the Wall Street Mafia. Both were INSTANTLY co-opted by the Wall Street Mafia. After roughly 24 hours of real opposition, both have been advocating nothing in particular; both serve as especially loyal troops for the Goldman 'D' Team and Goldman 'R' Team respectively.
Perfect futility. Nothing helps, nothing changes.
Christianity closed, mofo.
Damn. If there are any Christians remaining in the Anglican bathhouse, they had better clear out fast, and join one of the Africa-based Anglican missions.
In his most widely anticipated address since taking over the leadership of the Church, the Most Rev Justin Welby insisted that it was now “absurd and impossible” to ignore an “overwhelming” change in social attitudes. ... Archbishop warned church leaders that they needed to reassess their own attitudes to gay people – even if they do not “like it”. ... He is understood to have approached Stonewall, which led the campaign in favour of gay marriage, to invite it into church schools to teach up to a million children about homosexuality. ... “We may or may not like it but we must accept that there is a revolution in the area of sexuality,” the Archbishop said.
Satan has just declared flatly and openly that he is fully, totally and absolutely in charge. The former Church has been
transformed into a flaming division of Hell. Couldn't be any clearer. You want an Antichrist? This freakfag will do until the real thing comes along.
In case the basic point is not clear, here is the basic point, in strictly secular form, with no theology or theory.
By definition a
church or a
religion does not follow current fashion. A
church or a
religion represents permanent principles of morality, and works to oppose current fashion when current fashion is immoral. If a religion follows current fashion, it has ceased to be a religion. It may be a fine mutual admiration club for super-rich criminals, but it is no longer a religion.
One man's repellent
Went downtown this morning. I go downtown the same way I use a telephone: only a few times per year, when absolutely unavoidable. In this case I had to send some stuff to publisher by UPS, and the nearest drop-box (via bus) is downtown.
While waiting at the STA depot for the return bus, I noticed that STA follows the same practice as many downtown businesses, playing classical music through outdoor speakers. Mozart piano concertos, Rossini overtures, Bach harpsichord. Presumably this is intended to repel young dickheads.
As a Baroquen-down old Bach-lover, I found it purely delicious. Made me want to miss the bus and hang around. (But then I would have found it equally delicious when I was a young dickhead. Never could see the point of rock-n-roll.)
In short: Poison for yoots is nectar for coots.\

Artistic sidenote: Serendipity at work. I placed the notes intentionally, but didn't place the shadows from the speakers intentionally. Didn't see them until the image was rendered. They turned out to be more expressive than the notes.
A 10-second disproof
This one didn't even take the usual 30 seconds!
BBC babbling about the increase of forest fires, mourning the 19 firemen, and as always blaming "climate change".
Here's the century record of year-round precipitation for Arizona.

If you want to call every dry side of the natural cycle "climate change", then I guess we have "climate change". But Arizona had a much stronger "climate change" around 1900 and a much longer "climate change" around 1950. Both of those dry periods were followed by wet periods.
If "climate change" means only "the current situation", then "climate change" isn't especially bad compared to previous "non-climate non-changes".
Thanks, Evillll KKKarbonnnn, for bringing us a
less extreme side of the natural cycle than we had before you were in charge!

Hickenlooper's good idea
The Egypt mess is too sad to think about. I wanted Morsi to succeed and prayed hard for his success. Israel didn't want him to succeed, so he's out. If he had managed the country better, things might have worked out, but it's clear that he wasn't allowed to manage. Pure tragedy for Egypt and for the world.
I'll think about something more positive.
A neat idea by Colorado Gov Hickenlooper. Western states should work together to fund and share a fleet of firefighting planes. Excellent. No state needs a dozen planes all the time. Big wildfires are rare events in any one location, so no single state can justify the year-round storage and maintenance expenses. But five states pooling their resources can afford it, and the total number of fires in five states would come closer to justifying the expense.
We could use a lot more ideas along these lines. One of America's few remaining advantages is the solid principle of federalism, which remains in the structure and culture long after Madman Lincoln ripped it out of the Constitution. States need to exert their sovereignty at every opportunity, and working together regionally is an ideal exercise. When several states have a system locked in place, it becomes much harder for the evil Feds to kill it.
Immigration would be another good exercise. When Arizona was acting on its own, the satanic Feds were able to knock down every sane and sensible effort. If the states that
need Mexican farm labor could work in sync with the states that
have a door to Mexico, it might be possible to fund a rational immigration system. Georgia needs Mexicans to pick peaches? Okay, pay Arizona to filter and admit the proper set of Mexicans.
The ultimate goal of these ad-hoc arrangements, of course, is to crowd out Satan entirely. At some point all the sane states will emerge from their long stupor and shout "Hey! Wait a minute! We're still paying Satan for all these services, and we're not using even one! Let's just stop."

Reddit, Mozilla And Others Plan Huge Online Protest Against NSA For July 4
Fools.
The net exists because
NSA wanted it to exist. Your business exists because NSA set up the platform for it to exist.
Sort of like Ben & Jerry protesting against dairy farms, or Starbucks protesting against coffee plantations, or Tesla helping EPA to eliminate coal power, or Habitat protesting against loggers.
Fools.
Didn't you learn that in 6th grade?
I really shouldn't be surprised by the complete ignorance of TV journalists on all possible subjects, but this story stretches the boundaries.
This video from local TV station KHQ is actually a good and proper use of media, warning people about a real hazard that the journalists themselves encountered. Black hornets are fairly rare but extremely fierce and potentially deadly:
Clip here.
Note the discussion of larvas. The female journalist clearly knows how insects develop, but the two males are completely puzzled, seem to think that the larvas are a separate kind of bug.

7/6: A much wider example: Venezuela and Nicaragua have offered asylum to Snowden. All the media are wondering how he could get from Moscow to either of those locations, since Europe doesn't want him to pass through their airspace and he doesn't have an American passport.
Look at a fucking GLOBE, assholes. Fly eastward over Russia to the Pacific. Fly over the Pacific to Nicaragua. No need to cross anything but Russia, which already has him and will be glad to get rid of him.
Too weak, not too strong.
Most of the 'experts' on Egypt are running a batch of bizarre super-weird jibber-jabber about 'democracy' and 'legitimacy'.
The problem is obviously the other way around. Morsi has been too weak, not too strong. The reason for this isn't clear from outside ... maybe it's just a personal limitation, or maybe he was always a puppet of the military designed to discredit non-military rule ... but in any case he failed to grab the available levers of power from the start. He allowed the supreme court to remain from the old regime, and the court proceeded to undermine and sabotage him at every step. He did not
impose a constitution as the 'experts' claim; he gave the people a referendum on the constitution and they approved it. [By comparison, America and England, allegedly pillars of 'democracy', have NEVER allowed their people to vote on any national question. NOT ONE FUCKING TIME.]
He has done everything PRECISELY RIGHT according to the usual rules of 'democracy'. But 'democracy' is not what ANY country needs. What EVERY country needs is relative prosperity and relative income equality and relative security, by its own standards. We don't know if Morsi
could have improved those variables, but we do know that he had no chance to do anything about those basics while the old regime continued to sabotage him.
This comes back to Manweller's Rule, which I
discussed a long time ago. Or you could express it as Maslow's Hierarchy.
Democracy does not create good government. Parks, democracy, monuments and football stadiums are just optional frivolous luxuries a government might want to provide AFTER it's taken care of security and employment.
Later: Well, that story is over. The army cut the strings on their puppet after he served their
purpose. Still not clear if Morsi thought he had some chance to rule independently, or if he was just playing a role under duress. The new ruler is the head of the "constitutional court", who was the main saboteur against Morsi. Message clear. Old regime never went away, and now it's fully in charge again.
Thanks for proving his point
As the Snowden soap opera continues, we find that some Euro countries have refused to land a plane containing Evo Morales of Bolivia. Hmm. Wonder how those countries decided to block the plane? I'm pretty sure it didn't carry a flashing sign saying "SNOWDEN ON BOARD". Could they have determined that Snowden was on the plane by .... gasp ...
spying? By ... even more gasp ...
electronic surveillance? Or ... gasp to end all gasps ... by
receiving electronic surveillance info from America???????
Of course not. Euro countries are sinless. EU is Goddess and Merkel is her prophet. EU countries are pure as the [carbon-neutrally] driven snow. They do not read other gentlemen's mail.
Pile of crap.
Snowden hasn't revealed any secrets. He has only
published what all sentient humans have known for many decades. But he has done one tremendous favor for reason and logic: he has made it impossible for idiot leaders to insult our intelligence. Now that the facts have been slapped in everyone's face, and the response by the US government has guaranteed the accuracy of the facts, nobody can get away with the old "sources and methods" shit.
Cool as a proverbial
In this little burst of hot weather, I've remembered my grandmother's constant habit of serving cucumbers. I'm pretty sure she ate them all the time (old German tendency), but they were especially fine in summer. She had a long trough-like bowl that always held a sliced cucumber in vinegar. Must have been some oil as well, plus a lot of dill. Her second-floor apartment got seriously hot despite a window AC, and the tart cucumber had a distinct cooling effect. [Come to think of it, Grandma was also a tart character with a distinct cooling effect. I've inherited her temperament.]
Decided to try the cooling effect in my usual chili-like stuff, and the result is so good that it's worth writing a proper recipe.

Prerequisite: Cooked barley. I boil up a cup of pearl barley every few days and use it instead of rice or pasta. Lots of protein and fiber.
Ingredients:
Start with a cup of water in a saucepan. Turn on medium heat, add some salt.
Add 4 heaped tablespoons of the cooked barley.
Half cup of broccoli. (I use frozen 'florets', better than fresh to my tongue. I put the broccoli in hot water to thaw while chopping other stuff, and add it last, shredding it by hand instead of chopping.)
One chopped carrot.
About 4 inches of cucumber, sliced and quartered.
Add a good long shake of chili powder, and heat for about 10 minutes.
Skim off the starchy stuff.
Add a can of Campbell's Tomato Bisque, another good long shake of chili powder, and a short shake of dill seeds.
Heat for another 10 minutes, just barely boiling. Stir and skim once or twice.
The result is sharp and tangy at the same time. Nutritious and cooling.
Parkinson again 3
Savile Broadcasting did a 'location piece' from the American southwest, emphasizing two stories: (1) Colorado legalizing marijuana; (2) the Arizona wildfire that killed 19 firemen.
In the interviews on both stories, one theme emerged repeatedly, but SBC didn't make the connection explicitly.
(1) On marijuana, SBC interviewed a former DEA executive who stoutly defended the actions of DEA in catching lots of drug merchants, and stoutly rejected the idea of legalizing anything. Then interviewed a Colo legislator who pointed out the plain fact that DEA's budget has gone up steadily while overall drug use has gone up or remained unchanged.
(2) On the wildfire, SBC interviewed a fire expert who pointed out that this particular area has been unburned for 40 years, thanks to careful 'Smokey Bear' policies.
Hmm. We have two federal agencies that pursued policies designed to
increase their own budget, but carefully avoided doing anything that would
decrease the problem they're nominally supposed to solve.
Parkinson again. Bureaucracies exist SOLELY to increase their budgets and powers. Bureaucracies will NEVER move in any direction that leads toward eliminating their mission.
Admittedly the wildfire situation is complicated by a separate (non-Parkinson) government failure. Governments at all levels have encouraged new houses in the middle of forests, because that's where rich people wanted to build. Sane gov'ts should have realized that their resources were unequal to the task of protecting those houses, and should have prohibited the development.
Another 30-second disproof
NSR Marketplace has a feature blaming Evilllllll KKKarbonnnnn for all the ills of the world as boringly usual.
Over in the nuclear industry, some power plants have already made recalculations and adjustments. Since 1999, the Braidwood plant in Illinois has had to put in two requests with the Nuclear Regulatory Agency to increase the temperature limits on their cooling ponds. Krista Lopykinski is with Exelon, which operates the plant. She says the plant, which is almost 30 years old, first had to get permission from the NRC to use cooling pond water above 98 degrees. Then, last year, 100 degrees. “In the report, it refers to meteorological conditions,” Lopykinski says of the NRC request. “Basically, the water was getting warmer.”
Okay, let's look at Evilllll KKKarbonnnn's effects on that part of the world. Braidwood is near Kankakee, roughly on the line between
NCDC's climate divisions 2 and 5.
Here's the summer century record for Illinois zone 2, which includes the Chicago metro area:

Here's zone 5, including Kankakee:

And here's Indiana zone 1, upstream on the Kankakee River.

The plant was built in 1987, so it had some unusually warm temperatures early on. Then the summer temps dropped for ten years, until 2010 which was unusually hot, but still not up to the '80s. After 2010 the trend
appears to be down again.
So where's the infinitely upward trend? Not in the weather near the plant, not in the upstream weather.
The precip in those three zones is more complicated. Generally up from the 1930s to the 1990s, seems to be heading back down now, but not back to the 30s yet. Nothing dramatic in any of the zones.
Might be a problem from the city of Kankakee? Perhaps changes in sewage treatment causing the river to warm up?

Plants like sun.
After two weeks of cool rainy weather, we finally got some sun. Lord, what a difference!
Every morning I go out and chop some weeds, partly for the pride of a semi-neat yard, mainly for the exercise. So I have a good daily sense of what's going on in the world of plants. During the two weeks of rain, the grass grew slightly but the weeds and clover remained uninterested. I didn't have to do a lot of chopping...until....

Yeah, the cartoon may be stretching it a tad, but I'm trying to see the world from the photosynthetic viewpoint.
Sun also activated the spiders. They built dozens of webs in seemingly impossible places, leaving me thoroughly silked up by the time I finished chopping weeds. How do they span the 15 feet from the bushes to the house, with no wires or branches above the span? There's no wind today to carry them sideways. Do they web down from a branch and start swinging wider and wider until they hit the house?
= = = = =
Much later update: Turns out that spider 'flight' has been a mystery to many observers, and it's
just now been figured out. Spiders are able to send out their silk with an electric charge, of the same polarity as the underlying soil, so the silk flies upward as it shoots out. Thus a tendril can be sent
out and up to the nearest wall or branch. The mechanism of charging is still unknown. It could be imparted by muscle or nerve cells, like the electric eel's battery, or it could be chemical, as in producing the silk through a reaction that leaves it ionized.

Pointless competition
Listening to Obama's
'Up our game' speech in Africa. Main point seems to be spending $7 billion that we will borrow from China, in order to do something or other related to energy.
Useless. Clearly the something or other is going to be Gaian, which will be a dead loss for Africa. Soon it will be just another abandoned rusting Western project, which Africa already has in abundance.
I suppose Obama's purpose is to counteract the huge influence and huge spending by China and India. Won't work. First, it's tiny by comparison. Second, China and India are old-fashioned colonial powers, seeking specific resources for their own people. This leads to real mining and farming jobs for Africans. Third, China doesn't give a fuck about Gaia. China builds real dams and power plants that generate real electricity, not pretty little pinwheels that consume electricity. Fourth, counteracting China's work doesn't benefit America in any conceivable way. For America, being a superpower is pure cost with no benefit because we're too stupid to do old-fashioned colonialism. We only use our military to forcibly impose the Satanic toxins of our own impossibly wacked suicidal culture on countries which had the misfortune of being too smart and sensible to support feminism or Gaia or Wall Street capitalism or theory-based education.
Up till now, Obama's foreign policy has been leading us
away from superpowerness, which is a
good direction.
If we really wanted to do something for Africa's electric grid, we should offer to install a whole lot of small
mini-nuke plants, with oayback in royalties from power system revenue.

Slightly later news: Obama might meet with Soviet Agent Bush The Son, who also happens to be in Africa right now. What is Agent Bush The Son doing there?
Attending a conference on wymmyn's issues! Hmm. What was I just saying about feminism?
Aptronym alert
Article in UK Telegraph about a plan to besiege the city of York with wind "power" on all sides:
One of Britain’s most historic cities is being threatened by a circle of 40 wind farms under plans drawn-up by its Labour-led authority. Joe Watt, a Conservative city councillor, said: “The fear is that if it is on the plans and is accepted by the government inspector, then that is seen as a green light for a developer to come and put a wind turbine up."
Aptronym! Wonder if Joe's wife is named Meg? Or Terry? Nah, that would be too perfect.

Economics as a verb 2
NSR has a feature on illegal immigrants working in the dairy industry. As usual NSR defends the interests of the super-rich, claiming that dairy farmers haven't been able to hire natives.
One of the immigrants said that he was happy with the money he earned, because he was able to support his family back home and
buy land in his village.
Hmm. Maybe if you paid natives enough that they could live on the farm, support their family, and
buy land, they might be willing to take the job.
It's similar in other industries. Software companies pay Hindoos about half of what they pay natives, and the Hindoos are happy with the money because they can
support a large family back home and hire cooks and nannies for their family.
Hmm again. Maybe if you paid native programmers enough to support a large family and
hire domestic servants, you'd have less trouble finding natives to work.
The problem is obvious. Currency conversion is fraudulent. Currency values are based on arbitrary government decisions and the greed of speculators. If currencies were based strictly on labor value, these imbalances would disappear.
Since that isn't going to happen, the best cure is to simply eliminate all cross-boundary dealing in labor. No importation of human laborers, no importation of labor hours. If you want to sell anything in America, 100% of the labor must be done by Americans. The only exception is raw materials that can't be grown or mined here, such as bananas or lanthanum. Growing and mining involve labor in the countries where the materials are grown; since there's no substitute for the material, an exception is needed for those labor hours.
Another argument for
economics as a verb.Labels: Natural law = Sharia law
Too late. Closed, mofo.
News item:
Less than 24 hours after California started issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples, lawyers for the sponsors of the state's gay marriage ban filed an emergency motion Saturday asking the U.S. Supreme Court to stop the weddings being performed in San Francisco.
Too late, folks. You're operating within the quaint old-fashioned definition of "law", which no longer holds. You're trying to gain votes, trying to get judges to follow the law.
Won't work. Since 1968 in culture and academia, and since 1989 in the DC "government", law is gone. Kaput. Expired. Deceased. Ex. Voting is irrelevant, petitions are irrelevant.
Why? Because the people who could assist civilization, the people who could respond rationally to your votes and petitions, the candidates who could offer a serious non-Satan alternative, are
no longer there.
And why are they absent?
Because SatanGoldman's forces have not been using cute little non-functional symbols like votes and petitions. SatanGoldman's minions have been using blackmail and extortion, which actually work. At every level from city councils to state legislatures to Congress, every supporter of civilization has been under cultural pressure from the media, and under direct criminal pressure (death threats) from SatanGoldman's activists. Anyone who dares to speak truth on ANY issue is relentlessly slammed, oppo-researched, blackmailed, "exposed", and honeytrapped. When those subtle methods fail, SatanGoldman runs violent mobs to halt civilization in its tracks. See
Turkey, Egypt,
Texas for immediate examples.
