I really shouldn't be surprised by the complete ignorance of TV journalists on all possible subjects, but this story stretches the boundaries.
This video from local TV station KHQ is actually a good and proper use of media, warning people about a real hazard that the journalists themselves encountered. Black hornets are fairly rare but extremely fierce and potentially deadly:

Note the discussion of larvas. The female journalist clearly knows how insects develop, but the two males are completely puzzled, seem to think that the larvas are a separate kind of bug.

7/6: A much wider example: Venezuela and Nicaragua have offered asylum to Snowden. All the media are wondering how he could get from Moscow to either of those locations, since Europe doesn't want him to pass through their airspace and he doesn't have an American passport.
Look at a fucking GLOBE, assholes. Fly eastward over Russia to the Pacific. Fly over the Pacific to Nicaragua. No need to cross anything but Russia, which already has him and will be glad to get rid of him.
