Pointless competition
Listening to Obama's
'Up our game' speech in Africa. Main point seems to be spending $7 billion that we will borrow from China, in order to do something or other related to energy.
Useless. Clearly the something or other is going to be Gaian, which will be a dead loss for Africa. Soon it will be just another abandoned rusting Western project, which Africa already has in abundance.
I suppose Obama's purpose is to counteract the huge influence and huge spending by China and India. Won't work. First, it's tiny by comparison. Second, China and India are old-fashioned colonial powers, seeking specific resources for their own people. This leads to real mining and farming jobs for Africans. Third, China doesn't give a fuck about Gaia. China builds real dams and power plants that generate real electricity, not pretty little pinwheels that consume electricity. Fourth, counteracting China's work doesn't benefit America in any conceivable way. For America, being a superpower is pure cost with no benefit because we're too stupid to do old-fashioned colonialism. We only use our military to forcibly impose the Satanic toxins of our own impossibly wacked suicidal culture on countries which had the misfortune of being too smart and sensible to support feminism or Gaia or Wall Street capitalism or theory-based education.
Up till now, Obama's foreign policy has been leading us
away from superpowerness, which is a
good direction.
If we really wanted to do something for Africa's electric grid, we should offer to install a whole lot of small
mini-nuke plants, with oayback in royalties from power system revenue.

Slightly later news: Obama might meet with Soviet Agent Bush The Son, who also happens to be in Africa right now. What is Agent Bush The Son doing there?
Attending a conference on wymmyn's issues! Hmm. What was I just saying about feminism?
