Black-bumper readers
Statcounter gives system info on some blog readers. I've noticed over the years that the relatively
steady readers, who return several times, share my semi-Luddite tendency. Like
black-bumper Amish, compromising with modernity just far enough to get paid work done, but halting when technology roars ahead of its own shadow. New versions typically reach a peak of functionality, after which the bells and whistles and "security" theater ruin the technology.
Typical example in today's statcounter. (I've redacted the URLs.) The first two are repeaters. IE 9.0 and Win Vista, then Firefox 11.0 and Win XP. Both of them
beat me in the Luddite department. I'm using FF 56 and IE 11 and Win 7.
The third one is an interesting one-timer. An employee at Youtube, using Chrome (naturally enough) and Win 7! Not Win 10.
A tacit recognition, within the belly of the beast, that Win 10 is computer-destroying malware. Even Satan has to fall back to Win 7 if he wants to get shit done.
