The Case and Deaton article doesn't split male/female. Of course. Gender is a construct as everyone knows.
I searched for a while and couldn't find a proper breakout in any of the specifically cited data, but did find this CDC publication that states 76% of alcohol-related deaths are male.
Totally unsurprising.
FACT: USA males are being violently and murderously shoved off The Planet by media, culture, schools, churches, universities, corporations, and government working in genocidal collusion. First industrial jobs disappeared, then the army turned "construct", now even police are being forced into "construct" mode. No defensible spaces remain. Only alcohol and death.
A man needs to make things. If he can't make things, he will break things.

The U.S. death rate has been falling for decades, but researchers have detected one group in which the rates have been steadily ticking up -- middle-aged white people.Remember what happened in Russia during its collapse. Middle-aged men, feeling useless and hopeless, suicided by drink and drugs.
Suicides and deaths from drug overdose and alcohol abuse are being blamed.
Deaths rates for other races have continued to fall, as they have for whites 65 and older. But death rates for whites 35 to 44 have been level recently, and they're beginning to turn up for whites 55 to 64. Most strikingly, though, death rates for whites ages 45 to 54 have risen by half a percent per year since 1998, said the authors, economists Anne Case and Angus Deaton of Princeton University.
