I wish I could give proper credit....
The most important thing I learned in the last few years is the Sucker Filter. I wish I could remember who wrote about it. I like to give proper credit for valid and brilliant ideas. The Sucker Filter explains all sorts of otherwise mysterious phenomena, and it's not well known or publicly discussed.
Latest example: A fake "peace think tank".
Since peaceful foreign policy was a founding principle of the United States, it’s appropriate that the name of this think tank harken back to history. It will be called the Quincy Institute, an homage to John Quincy Adams, who in a seminal speech on Independence Day in 1821 declared that the United States “goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.” The Quincy Institute will promote a foreign policy based on that live-and-let-live principle.Sounds good, until:
The institute plans to open its doors in September and hold an official inauguration later in the autumn. Its founding donors — Soros’s Open Society Foundation and the Charles Koch Foundation — have each contributed half a million dollars to fund its takeoff.Soros and Koch are identical demons. Both are imperialist warmonger omnicidal robber barons posing as "philanthropists". Both seek to destroy the world. Soros has been vastly more effective, exterminating about 20 million Negative Externalities so far. Normally demon "philanthropists" hide behind a multi-layer structure of dummy companies and dummy foundations. Not this time. They're right out in the open. Sucker Filter. An efficient scam comes at you with a brazenly obvious fraud, like the classic Nigerian Prince. If you're dumb enough to think the obvious fraud is worth checking out, you're worth cultivating. If you detect the lie and avoid the click, you weren't worth cultivating anyway. Therefore: This 'Quincy Institute' is an agent provocateur, assigned to make localism and peace look horrible. In other words, it's a DECOY, a TRAP, a POISONED APPLE. It is designed to sap the energy and waste the effort and misdirect the actions of the real peace movement. = = = = = A bit later: Looks like a full-court sucker press. Kristol is "bashing" the Soros project to give it credibility. The suckers at TAC, who really should know better, are going along for the ride. Or maybe they're not suckers at all.... In either case, it's a good time for this:
