Futility is the nemesis of democracy
Since I got into a NextDoor.com forum, I've been observing the futility of responsibility.
Most participants in NextDoor are genuine GOOD CITIZENS. Some take it a little too far, as in nosy busybodies, but most are just GOOD PEOPLE and GOOD NEIGHBORS.
Their attempts to be GOOD are frustrated and futilated by the massively evil and incalculably wicked "city" dysgovernment.
Example: One GOOD CITIZEN is looking into building a cottage on the property for her elderly mother. City zoning makes this task EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. Spokane's new zoning code is explicitly designed to turn all ordinary people into homeless bums, while making life magnificently fabulous for Copkiller Condon and his Bloombergian Billionaire Buddies.
The best way to get the job done is to turn Mom into a crack dealer and keep her in a
tent. The "city" zealously protects the "rights" of criminals, and never enforces code on an active crime center.

[Disclaimer for clarity: I'm not including myself in the GOOD CITIZEN category. I try to stay legal because it's easier that way, but I got well and truly futilated
a long time ago and basically don't give a fuck. Still, it breaks my heart to see GOOD people ruined by a satanic dysgovernment.]
