Leftover H/T
Chicago mayor candidate Vallas had hard talk for Elon's idiotic tunnel. "I can’t wait to kill it".
I got curious. Just words, or does he have a record of killing idiocy? Looked up his campaign. An unusual character for politics. An
emergency auditor who has specialized in turning around corrupt and indebted agencies. Started in Chicago, roamed through Philly and New Orleans and Haiti, solving problems in each place. Refreshing in an age when most politicians create problems or just talk about problems.
This part struck me:
1995–2001
CEO of Chicago Public Schools
When Paul first became CEO, CPS had a $1.2 billion projected five year deficit. During his tenure, he had six consecutive balanced budgets, a fully-funded teachers’ pension system, 78 newly constructed school buildings, and 1,900 school renovations. When he left, CPS had hundred of millions of dollars in cash reserves.
From deep in debt to deep in SAVINGS in six years.
I can't think of any other politician who moves things in this direction.
Debt vs savings is FAR MORE than just numbers. When you're living on credit you have to obey the bank. When you're living on savings you have more REAL FREEDOM to make your own decisions. As long as everyone continues on the path of exponential debt, ... and now we're going to make it HYPEREXPONENTIAL with the incalculably insane MMT crime ... we are SLAVES to NYC. Some cities and people may naturally want to follow the NYC demons, but when you're locked into debt you have NO CHOICE.
Semirelevant: The Vallas website includes some old family pictures. Grandfather, father and Paul look like the same man. Grandmother, mother, and wife look like the same woman. A good indication of
tanh thinking. When things are good enough, leave them alone. With a background like that, his contempt for Elon's mythical exp project makes complete sense.
Vallas's record says: If it's broke fix it.
His pictures say: If it ain't broke don't fix it.
A nice pair of purposes.
