Reversed wind pattern
Noting a highly unusual pattern. Typically the wind in this part of town is less intense and less gusty than the airport's wind. This area is partly sheltered on three sides and the airport is up high on an open plain, so the pattern makes sense. I'm accustomed to seeing 25G40 on the Weather Bureau's website (measured at the airport) when this neighborhood is just sort of breezy, nothing special.
Today the pattern is reversed. The airport is showing 20G30 with a few 35s, and this neighborhood is
noisily windy. The house is thumping and bumping, the snow is flying off the ground, leaves are rushing down the street. Looks and sounds like 30G45.
One hour later the airport caught up. Since 10:30 they've been 30G45. I guess the windy zone must have expanded from east to west instead of the more typical west to east.
