Life is anticipation 2
Absolute winter has resumed today, so I'm looking back with nostalgia on three days of
not quite absolute winter.
Yesterday, for the first time since November, I could walk back from Shadle along Hoffman Street. I missed
Hoffman. Its 1950s time capsule gives me a dose of pleasant
orderliness to boost my immunity against the overall
chaos of Sorosia. Like a dog finally released from winter captivity, I was visually sniffing all the familiar houses. You OK? Yup. You OK? Yup. You OK? Not quite.
Most of those houses are
Cod-ish enough that they didn't carry a heavy snowload, so didn't suffer any damage over the winter. One or two have some rough spots left from ice dams.
The dynamic part of the landscape also helped to rebuild my
templates of anticipation.
There's the lady walking her Chihuahuas. They will start yapping when they see me, and the lady will say "SHUSH!" to them, and then the cat will pop out of the driveway and join the parade for a block or so.
Yapping, check.
SHUSH! check.
Cat pop, check.
Cat parade, check.
Template verified, all is well.
