Oreo math
Bumped into this marvelous Brazilian recipe for hypersuperultraturbo Oreos. If this doesn't give you instant diabetes, you're immune!
After I finished salivating I wondered about the measurements. The weights are metric. Everything else is sort of English-style fractional but unfamiliar. Xic? Cha? Col?
1/2 Xic agua fervente = 1/2 Xicara of fervent water. (Yeah, I know it means hot, but fervent is so much more Brazilian.)
Looking it up, turns out to be even more wonderful. Brazilian food measurement is pretty much anything you want it to be. Xicaras are cups of various types, colheres are spoons of various types. None of the types are standard. They're all relative (DELTA) and ADAPTED to your own set of measuring tools.
Fractional. Deltas relative to your own baseline.
THIS IS REAL WORLD MATH. I LOVE IT.
