A virtuous Catch-22
A new piece of the Switchover. A presumably ordinary German family has escaped from EU insanity. They are trying to claim asylum in Russia because Russia is sane.
Because Russia is sane, Russia is refusing to grant them asylum.
My emotional response is
Oh, come on. Let them in. Score the propaganda point.
BUT: Scoring the point would break the sanity. Putin's first principle is to DEFEND THE RUSSIAN PEOPLE above all. Allowing asylum for this purpose would break the wall. It would flatten the
GRADIENT that caused the people to emigrate.
Nations exist to defend the interests of their own people. EU has decided to commit suicide to enrich the Chosen. Russia has decided not to join the suicide.
Putin is clearly thinking along the same lines as
Schwellenbach in 1938:
If the rest of the world wants to involve itself in a general brawl, that is its business. The successful advance of civilization depends on the maintenance of [civilization] SOMEWHERE. That place should be here. Let us turn our hands to that task, so that no outside influences can turn us from it.
I've substituted [civilization] for the original 'democratic institutions'. It's blazingly clear by now that 'democratic institutions' are the opposite of civilization.
