Status and popularity are natural. Can't avoid it. If you're naturally unlikable, nothing will make you likable.

FUNCTIONAL CIVILIZATIONS find ways to flatten the gradient of unequal popularity, just as they find ways to flatten economic inequality. Functional civilizations make places for unlikable people (eg monasteries) just as they make places for low-skilled workers (eg factories.)

Our non-functioning civilization, with zero negative feedback and infinite positive feedback, turns the gradients of inequality into unscalable cliffs. In the world of Facebook, literal LIKES are the literal CURRENCY of self-worth. Oddballs are the only group we're permitted to hate. All hate channels toward the already unlikable.

Sharper and sharper and sharper, until the unlikable ones decide there's nothing to lose. Tried everything, nothing works. Usual result is suicide, sometimes homicide. Sometimes revolution.

And that's where we are.

Do the elites want revolution? Of course. That's why they're working so hard to develop it, and that's ALSO why they're working hard to develop robot servants and space travel. Let the Negative Externalities wipe each other out, escape to bunkers or Mars. And that's ALSO why they push rewilding. Bunkers and Mars will get tiresome. After all the NegEx cease respirating, The Planet [pbuh] will be too smelly for the hypersensitive olfactory apparatus of the Hypermensans. What to do? No need to waste robots on this task. That would be economically inefficient, might cut a few picopicobeeps off the acceleration of the share value of AAPL and ABCD. Unacceptable, intolerable, all options on the table. Efficient final solution: Prestaged and prepositioned raptors, ready to reduce the NegEx to clean bones. No cost at all.
