Three Washington State University instructors are being accused of violating students’ First Amendment rights by banning terms such as “illegal alien,” “male” and “female” in the classroom. Students were told they would risk losing points or failing a class if they repeatedly use terms deemed oppressive or hateful in discussions or assignments. The instructors – one professor and two doctorate students in WSU’s Department of Critical Culture, Gender and Race Studies – outlined their policies in course syllabi. At Whitworth:
Whitworth University issued an apology on Facebook on Tuesday after a photo was posted showing five women’s soccer players wearing afro wigs – including four wearing blackface – in an apparent attempt to appear as members of The Jackson Five for a skit at an informal event at a bowling alley.Emerson tells us that tyrannical toxic shit tends to be self-limiting. Anyone who graduates from college under these conditions will be totally unsuited for any job except Grand Inquisitor. Openings in that field are limited at present; basically the only opportunities for Grand Inquisitors are in universities and the media. As the Final Purge advances, the GI employment space will no doubt expand; but that's at least a few weeks in the future. Meanwhile, employers who want skills other than Grand Inquisitor seem to be catching on. They're increasingly turning to Community Colleges, where actual education still happens occasionally. Parents and students are also waking up and smelling the cyanide. Note how new college enrollments are no longer keeping up with population: Thanks, Ralph.
