Animals think fall is coming
The Weather Bureau thinks we're pretty much done with heat for the year.
I HOPE SO.
Today the birds and squirrels are expressing the same opinion in raucous style. Birds are gathering in giant Robust Debate Clubs, weighing down the power lines, flying back and forth en masse. Squirrels are digging and making sounds they don't normally make.
My first thought: If yesterday was really the last warm day, where are the aphids?
Last year I
put together a fairly consistent pattern, with late Sept and late Oct alternating. Looking back at the pattern, I'd guess this year will be one of the late Oct years. So I shouldn't expect the aphids just yet.
