Reverting to mean
I was just starting to write something about the pacific Pacific winter this year. After an abnormally cold November, we've had an abnormally warm and foggy Jan and Feb. Later:
Local "news" claims that today's rain is carrying an unusual amount of white dust. I'm not seeing it here, but supposedly drivers are seeing it on windshields. This satellite picture might explain it. We're getting a deep southern version of the Pacific Firehose. It's from a warmer part of the ocean than usual, and it passes over a lot more desert land than usual. (I've drawn the more typical Firehose in red.)
