Pres in Chicago
He should do all his press conferences out of Washington, and Tony Snow should do the same. Circuit riding, as it were....
The Washington Enemy Front Lines, sometimes bizarrely called the "press corps", asks only one question over and over and over in various guises. The question is "I hate you I hate you I hate you I hate you DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!!!!!!"
In Chicago, the reporters asked hard but genuine questions, and Bush gave genuine answers. He clarified one thing that has not been clear up to now: on NK, diplomacy is preface to military action, not the sole action.
He also gave a good mini-speech on the goal of democracy. His basic premise is wrong, but this was as good an exposition as we've ever heard.
The goal is wrong because it skips THE crucial fact: Jihad is not driven by a desire to escape oppressive regimes. Jihad is driven by Allah.
