Pointless note on pointless blog stats
A couple weeks ago I connected to Google Analytics, trying to sort out meaningless bots from real reads. Analytics does a
slightly better job than Blogspot's internal graphs. It enables me to locate the items that are 'occasions of sin' for bots. Meaningless irrelevant crap I wrote 5 to 15 years ago, that wasn't worth reading when it was new, and is even more worthless now.
I still don't know WHY these particular items are bot magnets. Apparently they get planted in a page of bot links and then get "visited" repeatedly. I'm deleting these items as soon as they become obvious. Previously I thought they might have been habitual entry points for real readers, so I left them around. Analytics makes their pure botness clear.
As always, I have two or three regular human readers, plus the most regular "reader" of all, Amazon Ashburn, the cloud that serves NSA. Amazon Ashburn reliably and consistently "reads" everything with a political slant and ignores all my science stuff and animations.
