the ACU interview of Pam Popper. She's discussing the focus on prevention and wellness that had taken over our "medical" system in recent years. Now that people are forbidden to visit the doctor, and now that sane people have realized that doctors are murderers, this habit will stop, and people will be better off.
Reminds me: In 2018 I reached the same NOW I SEE moment about the 'preventive' crap in dentistry. For many years I'd gone in every six months, had the hygienist painfully clean my teeth and gums, and had the dentist check for cavities and other stuff. It was costing about $1000 a year on average, unpaid by insurance. (My income is about $15k/yr, so that's a meaningful amount.)
In early 2018 the dentist "saw" some discoloration on the palate. He frowned and hemmed and hawed, and persuaded me to have a biopsy done. I had the biopsy, which found nothing harmful but DID MORE HARM THAN GOOD. One of the two slices healed in three hours, which proved that I'm capable of healing. The other slice went through all sorts of weird scarring and wrinkling and changing and swelling for three months, and finally settled down into a permanent rough area. Since then nothing further has happened, except that the rough spot is still there.
I told the dentist that I was done with regular visits, and told him that the oral surgeon was incompetent.
For two years I've been flossing and brushing as usual, but not doing the hygienist stuff. My mouth is CLEANER AND LESS INFLAMED than it was with the frequent "cleaning". Good old immunity. The "cleaning" was creating an unnaturally sterile environment, which left the immune system and microbes unbalanced. After the "cleaning" stopped, the immune system was able to perform steadily and restore a NONZERO balance of microbes.
Trust your body. Treat it right. Let it work. Understand that it's VASTLY MORE INTELLIGENT than our brains, and INFINITELY MORE MORAL than our doctors and dentists.
'Prevention' is basically a protection racket. You're paying money to prevent the doctor from ruining your health, except the doctor breaks the promise and ruins your health anyway. Ordinary gangsters have more integrity.
Dentists and doctors can do a few good things. Filling a cavity is good. Most surgeries are good. Some prescriptions are good. The focus on screenings and prevention is bad. Before this year, even the AMA was starting to recognize that overuse of TESTS was a bad idea, leading to more problems than cures.
The old-fashioned approach is still best. When YOU know something is wrong, you have a problem that needs to be solved and usually can be solved. Trying to find problems before YOU know they're problems does more harm than good.
