Deus per machina
There's a crucial difference between old-style and new-style automation.
The mechanisms are not necessarily different. The PURPOSE of old and new machines is opposite.
The old-style machine helps us to accomplish our purposes, helps us to do our duty.
Old-style machines help us to create and maintain order and beauty. A tractor, a vacuum cleaner, a cookstove, a printing press. Each turns chaos to order in a way that we can't do with our bare hands.
The new-style machine injects the emperor's purpose into our life. The emperor's purpose is to destroy order, crush beauty, and KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL.
New machines deceptively resemble old machines, except that we are NOT IN CONTROL. The emperor is in control via Github updates and Wi-fi commands.
Tech cultists are already conditioned to this new mode. Tech cultists WILLINGLY SURRENDER their purpose and soul and life to the Emperor of Github. They DO NOT WANT to do their own duty and serve their own purpose. They are passive dead parts of the Emperor's big machine. They are nothing more than drill bits or frying pans or tires.
Humans and tools have traded roles.
