One gets it, one doesn't
I've bitched that both leftist and nationalist commentators seem to be missing the importance of AMLO.
Here's one leftist who gets it.
From the Daily Worker aka People's World, written a month ago just after his inauguration.
The new president got very specific: “The neoliberal model failed.” Characterized by dishonesty in government, and both public and private corruption, it is the source of gross economic and social inequality. Unlike any other time in modern Mexican history since the 1930s, the neoliberal period, beginning in 1983, has been the most inefficient, with concentration of wealth, an enormous wave of emigration and an explosion of anti-social behavior. In short, a “disaster and calamity” for the country, where four out of ten Mexicans live in poverty. Economically, the energy “reform” that Peña Nieto passed has resulted in less production of oil and the failure to build new refineries, importation of half the nation’s consumption of the staple corn, a minimum wage that is among the lowest on Earth, and 24 million Mexican citizens who have chosen, or been forced to emigrate. “Neoliberalism is corruption,” AMLO pronounced without evasion, a robbery and sell-off of the national treasure.Uniquely for a US leftist, this author APPRECIATES the need for more refineries and more farm production. All other US leftists want to see oil and agriculture eliminated. The only way to pacify Gaia is to return to the Stone Age. We must burn only coal and wood, but we can't mine the coal and we can't get the wood from trees. = = = = = Contrarily: Turley, the most consistent and insightful right-populist commentator, still doesn't include AMLO in the list of new nationalists. It's a peculiar way of drawing the line. Italy's populist government is somewhat more left than right in economic terms, and Putin is definitely more left than right. Why include them but not AMLO? If culture is an important determiner, AMLO is firmly on the traditional side. = = = = = Later thought: Maybe I should just be quietly glad that "our" media and commentators are ignoring AMLO. We are required to focus on movements and leaders who are puppets of Deepstate. CIA and MI6 always run "radicals" on both sides of an issue, to discredit real movements through crime and chaos. CIA also runs the media to tell us which movements are "good" and "bad". We are not forced to focus on AMLO, which at least indicates that he's not the main puppet at this moment. ¶ 6:14 AM
