Crime outcomes in England and Wales: 48% of offences are carried out without a suspect even being identified.Only half of all crimes reach the point of identifying a suspect, and only 9% lead to charging a suspect. Unsurprisingly, the actual crime rate went up 30% in the same period.
Proportion of crimes resulting in a suspect being charged/summonsed has dropped from 11% to 9%. in a year. That's the lowest detection rate since a new system was introduced in 2015, when it was 15%.
