Roads that prohibit cars
I'm puzzled by a peculiar conflict between major pieces of web commerce. Youtube constantly runs JS scripts that Firefox can't handle. FF grinds to a halt, presents you with a choice of Continue, Debug or Stop. Continue just restarts the obstacle; Debug would only be useful if you had written the script; Stop restarts the obstacle. IE also grinds to a halt but without throwing the useless message.
This makes no sense from either side, even after acknowledging that we are the products. Why does Google want to stop
viewing by product eyeballs? Why do both Firefox and IE collaborate in the stopping process? Shouldn't they find a way to bill Google for its persistent interference with commerce?
It's like a toll road partly funded by GM that senses the entrance of Ford and Toyota and Chrysler cars, and slams a gate shut to prevent entry. Why stop 2/3 of the cars, when those cars could be helping to pay for the road?
