Hauled in the wrong direction
A couple of profs are being hauled over the coals for speaking truth in unfortunate ways. Both deserve hauling for the WAY they spoke the truth and their obvious GOALS in speaking the truth, but that doesn't negate the fact that a fact is a fact is a fact.
Laura Weinrib of Chicago is
being hauled for saying:
"The ACLU's free speech stance should be about social justice, not 'timeless' principles"
Actually it would be nice if ACLU was about
any kind of justice, social or otherwise. ACLU has always been about empowering and enriching Deepstate. Nothing more, nothing else. Its founders explicitly stated that it would occasionally support causes which don't look like normal Deepstate, to hide its basic purpose. Weinrib is simply saying what everyone has always known.
Ken Storey of Florida is
being hauled for saying that Houston deserves a hurricane because Texas votes Repooflican. He's offbase in his location, but in fact Houston is being
CORRECTLY punished for its long history of laissez-faire zoning and planning policies. Many Repooflicans have spilled floods of ink praising the "invisible hand" that made Houston the most floodable city in America.
The current government in Houston, like EVERY city govt, is Michael Bloomberg, who agrees with the Repoofs on letting corporations slaughter Deplorables but disagrees with Repoofs on verbiage about guns and abortion. Thus the current govt has spent more energy defending Planned Parenthood than the pre-Bloomberg corporatocracy, but still hasn't done shit about planning or zoning.
Floods are the only natural disaster that can be prevented ALMOST entirely by good planning. Even with this super-extreme 50 inch rain event, Houston is only PARTLY flooded. The parts built on high ground with good drainage got plenty wet but didn't flood.
