Quickest way to lose a subscriber
I had been donating to a couple of artists through Patreon. This morning Patreon popped a message in favor of Net Neutrality, urging subscribers to "Tell Your Congressman" etc etc.
End subscription.
When I'm lurking for free, you can pop any kind of advertisement or message. Fair game.
When I'm paying for the service, you CANNOT command me to do something wrong. You CANNOT order me to oppose sense and sanity.
If you want to express your corporate feelings elsewhere, via Twitter or blogging or whatever, fine. When I'm FORCED TO SEE YOUR FEELINGS as a condition of doing business, not fine.

Footnote for clarity: Net Neutrality isn't evil, it's just a foolish and counterproductive idea. Every utility charges heavy users more than light users. Electricity charges by the kilowatt, water by the gallon, gas by the cubic foot. Web service is no different. Heavy web usage requires larger cable, faster servers, etc. If you charge all users the same, you will end up charging light users MORE so you can charge heavy users LESS; or you will have to limit and throttle EVERYONE. In either case the SMALL users and POOR users will lose. Net neutrality was cooked up by the heavy users to give themselves even more advantage over the small users.
