Kelly thing inspires weird dream
I was listening to BBC radio yesterday when the
Kelly Kids thing happened. As audio it wasn't especially notable. The announcer said something about children, then Kelly was silent for a moment, then tried to resume the interview but failed. The BBC satans spent the rest of the hour laughing, showing that perhaps they had one or two human chromosomes; but I didn't really know what they were laughing about.
Later I watched it as video and understood.
It was a
flashback to the '50s when Home Life and Work Life were strictly separate. Visiting the house of someone you know at work, and realizing that his Home Life is SURPASSINGLY WEIRD. Dad never looks at the kids, sort of bats them away without breaking eye contact with the camera. Korean mom, in true '50s style, desperately hauls the kids away from Work Life. Slapstick results.
It would have been easier to bring the kids in, not out. Dad would hoist the swaggering toddler onto the desk and let her have 15 seconds of camera time. It's also better
for the kids when they feel involved in the family business. But that's not the '50s way.

So this morning I had a SURPASSINGLY WEIRD dream. Placed in the house where our family lived in 1959. Mom and Grandma were behaving in a way I'd never seen before. They were putting up curtains all over the house and wrapping Grandma in some kind of curtains. I understood that Grandma was dying, but both of them were ... oh! .... papering over the reality by saying that Grandma was just Going To The Store. Curtaining and wrapping were a Normal Part Of Going To The Store.
In reality the papering over wasn't unusual. There was a whole lot of papering over family history, and a lot of 'Normal' stuff that
later turned out to be false.
