A trend or 'movement' among biologists to reclassify life in terms of PURPOSE instead of STRUCTURE.
It's been clear for a long time that each creature, and each part of a creature, is determined by its set of purposes and intentions. Two animals or organs may look similar in all measurable parts but have entirely different purposes, and two organs that serve the same purpose may look entirely different.
It is also becoming clear that each gene determines a purpose. The same set of genes determines vision in all animals and plants. The seeing structure has many different forms, but it always answers to the same purpose-former.
This 'movement' among biologists proposes to map life on the basis of purpose instead of structure.

Because traits are essential for where copepods live and why they live there, the scientists would be able to look at one particular region with some special conditions and predict the kinds of copepods that live there. It should be possible to make predictions for all ecosystems to see how they will be affected by climate change. Copepods play a crucial role in the ocean’s carbon cycle, that is, the removal of CO2 from the ocean surface and transfer to the ocean floor. Large copepods remove more CO2 and stay beneath the surface for longer periods of time. This could influence the length of time that CO2 is held in the ocean.Let's meta-use the new system.
