Happy to see ITT colleges closing down.
This is personal. In 1996 when I was dead broke, I applied for a teaching job at the local ITT branch. At that time my excellent teaching credentials from DeVry were still up-to-date. ITT turned me down
rudely.
Now they're dead broke and out of a job.
ITT is blaming a cutoff of Fed loan funds to profit-making tech schools. Too fucking bad. Shouldn't have relied on corporate welfare. In this particular case the Dept of Ed did the right thing, though it SHOULD also cut off ALL loans to ALL colleges. 20 years ago for-profit tech schools were the only place to get proper post-secondary training. Since then, community colleges have picked up the slack beautifully. Now community colleges are UNQUESTIONABLY the best choice by quality AND cost. There's no reason for the profit-making schools to be supported or subsidized.
