Graybill and Haiti
Radio France ran a long and ADMIRABLY OBJECTIVE feature on the permanent failure of Haiti. They mentioned drought and deforestation WITHOUT EVEN ONCE chanting the magic words "Global Warming".

The problem is simple. Haitians are ungoverned.

Normally a government tries to create infrastructure and storage so farmers and fishers can PLAN FOR THE FUTURE AND CONTROL THEIR ACTIONS. Haiti has never had a government performing those duties. Every farmer has to keep planting and hoping, every fisherman has to fish to the max every day. Result: Total depletion of soil and fish.

There is no organized supply of fuel, so Haitians have been cutting down their forests for fuel. Result: deforestation and increased drought.

Radio France actually stated a FACT: Forests create clouds. Where there's no forest, rain ceases.

Why has the government failed to perform its duties? Because it has been depending on international donors.

Graybill's Law again. Globalism provides ONE EASY RESOURCE for governments. This may be oil or diamonds or plain old welfare, but it's always ONE. Governments forget their normal range of skills and simply suck on Exxon or DeBeers or the UN's titty.

When a government depends on LOCALLY COLLECTED TAXES, it learns the skills to CREATE SURPLUS VALUE, which in turn PROVIDES locally collected taxes. It builds roads and dams and electric systems and grain elevators and fish warehouses. It helps farmers to mechanize and use land efficiently. Crop rotation, fallow periods. It subsidizes fishermen so they can let the ocean replenish. All of these actions are INVESTMENTS that bring a RETURN IN TAX REVENUE. But the Haitian government doesn't need taxes. It has IMF and US and UN.

The USA STRONG government has also lost its reliance on LOCALLY COLLECTED TAXES. It depends instead on counterfeit "money" through deficits and QE. Result is the same. USA STRONG no longer builds infrastructure. It blows up dams instead of building dams. It closes nuclear plants instead of building nuclear plants. It encourages factories to move offshore. EVERYTHING THAT WOULD CREATE PROFIT IN A NORMAL NATION IS UNNECESSARY, SO EVERY ASPECT OF A NORMAL ECONOMY MUST BE OBLITERATED.

Got curious to see if the deforestation was as bad as the program implied.
