One good thing
Bloomberg's best bitchboy Copkiller Condon appointed his fellow Bloomberg Boy as police chief. NYC Straub immediately turned out to be a fuckhead, a feral tyrant who SMASHED morale and destroyed the organization, both uniformed and bureaucratic sides. No surprise. That's NYC.
Copkiller Condon fought the police for a year, and finally had to give way in the face of a threatened total mutiny.
NYC Straub immediately began the usual NYC counterbarrage of lawsuits and media, and the city "government" weakly resisted with its own investigations. We actually have an investigation into why the investigation of the investigation is too slow.
Meanwhile, crime is increasing fast in the unfortunate city. We're beating Compton at its own game. Total chaos. High-quality NYC product, excellent Bloombergian result. Massa Bloomberg is well pleased with her/his house nigger Copkiller Condon, and with Condon's political defenders Copkiller Fitzsimmons and Copkiller Rydell.
Now one major piece of the NYC Straub chaos is coming unglued, as a judge rejects NYC Straub's lawsuit for wrongful termination.
Undoubtedly the multi-layered non-investigation will continue to fester.
Later thought: I should generalize the One Good Thing beyond this specific decision. Local judges are the One Good Thing, maybe the Only Good Thing. They steadily resist corruption and impose rationality. They're not perfect, but at the moment they're the only sane element in all layers of "government".
