Maxwell's angel
Convective thought.
Hungary is Maxwell's Demon for nationalism.
Twice now, Hungary has been the key that broke an empire. Literal key, as in door or gate.
When the Soviet Empire reached a point of collapse, Hungary OPENED its borders to create a path from East Germany to Austria, and started an avalanche.
Now that the EU Empire is collapsing, it is trying to destroy heretics with an invading army of Dreamers. Hungary was first to CLOSE its borders, which diverted the flow to other countries, who then had to close their own borders to defend their existence.
Is this an argument against walls? No.
You can't open and close a door unless you have a wall.
In biology and nations, that's the WHOLE FUCKING POINT. A cell membrane INTELLIGENTLY opens and closes its ion gates and digestive pores, to let in good stuff and let out bad stuff.
An animal INTELLIGENTLY opens and closes its mouth and anus and respiratory ports, to let in good stuff and let out bad stuff. A nation INTELLIGENTLY opens and closes its borders and ports and tariff controls, to let in good stuff and let out bad stuff.
All the same. Without the wall, toxins and burglars and rain and Dreamers flow in uncontrollably and destroy the chemical or cultural integrity of the interior. But a wall without INTELLIGENTLY controlled doors won't let nutrition in and won't let waste out.
