Scrip ideas 2
Inspired by the
Tenino wooden scrip, I'm piddling around with the idea of a purely analog, even purely non-metallic, version of a chargeable card.
Thinking of a card with a movable middle layer that could be shaped chemically and read acoustically. Decided to use Poser graphics to explore some possibilities. On the first try Poser gave me a wonderful outtake:
The small red-over-green 'graph' in the southeast corner is the only remnant of my intended design. Poser ran wild with a loopy ribbony improvisation.
After more digital construction, got a somewhat better image here:
Hmm. Looks familiar. Looks like plain old punching.
But wait! It can't be that simple! Punching isn't secure! How can you prevent a cheater from punching new holes to incr....
Oh. That's why punching works. Each hole DECREASES the remaining value of the card. Cheaters don't want to DECREASE the value. You would have to UNpunch an existing hole to get more value. A lot of work, and easy to detect without any fancy software. Close optical examination would suffice.
Sometimes it IS that simple.
