Yaaarrrggh!
I'm always alert for ants, especially "ants" that are actually termites. After a long infestation and a long
idiocy, I finally had them exterminated in 2008. Since then I haven't seen any signs of re-infestation, but I'm still twitchy about bugs of all sorts.
Spiders are the exception. I make a point of tolerating them as long as they mind their own business, because they're my ally against six-leggers.
Last night in the shower I felt something moving on my leg that seemed different from a drop of water. Brushed it off with my hand, and saw it was a BIG bug. YAAARRRGHHH! Looked at first like a carpenter ant or maybe a cockroach. Got out of the shower, caught the bug, killed it, and took a good look. Saved it till morning and made a scan of it to be sure.
Earwig. No doubt about it. Looks exactly like pictures on the web. Long and slinky with big pincers on the rear. Ants aren't slinky and don't have pincers.
Harmless but still YAAARRRRGGGHH. Anything that crawls up your leg is YAAAAARRRGGHH.
