The Rev. Todd Eklof of the Unitarian Universalist Church said he felt the need to organize the event to show that the Spokane community doesn’t agree with such racist behavior. He said he also wanted to comfort and support Dolezal. “The vast number of people are extremely disturbed when something like this happens,” he said. “It’s a way for the community to come together and say not here, not in our neighborhood. We can’t let this go unanswered.” Members of his church attended the rally, as did members of New Hope Baptist, St. Paul’s United Methodist, Bethany Presbyterian and All Saints Lutheran churches. The Peace and Justice Action League, the Center for Justice and many other groups were represented as well.Drearily predictable. All the usual commie groups saying all the usual commie things. My bile started to rise yet again, and Emerson came to the rescue yet again. As no man thoroughly understands a truth until he has first contended against it... I've been there entirely too many times, though perhaps not in such an immediately obvious fraud. I've loudly defended people and causes that later turned out to be fake or not worth defending. Lusitanias created by government, or people who were generating sympathy for venal purposes. Many of these fools will later become embarrassed by their enthusiasm, and will understand the truth. Some won't. Some will be as fucking obdurate as I was when young, and will require more paddlings before they catch onto reality.
