Perfect little SES
Polistra never misses a chance to collect a self-explanatory sentence.
Here's a classic:
The Methodist Church in Britain is hemorrhaging members and has been described by a leading religious affairs commentator as "a bit like an iceberg that’s just crumbling into the sea."
Perfect. Why are the Methodists losing members? Because they've switched from Christianity to Gaia-worship and Satan-worship. A melting iceberg is the first analogy that occurs to the writer. She doesn't even realize that she has answered her own question, which is essential for an SES.
The linked article runs through the history of Methodism. It began with hard-line evangelical tent meetings, attracting poor people who needed a firm moral foundation. The original Fire And Brimstone preachers were Methodists.
Then Methodism followed the usual path upward into respectability and riches, adopting the satanic values of the rich. Now it's just another branch of the Rainbowshirt Brigade.
Basic problem: the rich are always rare, and in recent times they're getting richer and rarer.
We have a dozen formerly Christian organizations whoring after 0.1% of the population. The 0.1% don't need a spurious Christian-flavored organization in the first place because they're Jews.
Shouldn't be a surprise that these Christian-flavored organizations are losing their non-elite members while failing to gain the elites.
