Bonus Army 2
The
Occupy Oakland protesters are starting to get serious, and the cops are getting serious in return.
I hear echoes of the
Bonus Army of 1932. The ex-soldiers of the Bonus Army were probably a better bunch of men than the mixture of hippies and real unemployed in Occupy, but action is what counts.
Occupy Wall Street hasn't managed to do anything concrete, so it doesn't count.
Occupy Oakland has succeeded in shutting down the port for a while.
Western governments cannot be moved or changed by quaint little decorative frills like "elections" or "robust debates". They only pay attention when they lose real money or real power.
Now we're starting to get somewhere.
