Comcast thinks I'm in two places at once
In the Sitemeter listings I've been noticing a frequent 'visitor' to this blog from Gig Harbor. After some experimentation, I can tell that this 'visitor' is simply me. (Experiment = view the blog at 5:00 then look at Sitemeter. New visitor at 5:00 is now the guy from Gig Harbor, and his listed system parameters are the same as mine.)
I've also been noticing that those annoying popup ads for e-cigs or mortgage scams are using Gig Harbor instead of Spokane as the fake "dateline" to catch my eye.
Oh well. In hacker-rich times, anything that provides a little scrap of anonymity is welcome. I guess.

A week later: Now Comcast is using an IP that apparently can't be tied to one location. The same annoying ads now start with the placefiller "Your City" or "Your State" instead of "Gig Harbor:" ... which is oddly reminiscent of old snail-mail junk ads addressed to Occupant. Except that Occupant generally made sense, while Your City generally doesn't!
