Parallels
Convective thought, probably wrong.
Thinking about the Teacher Unions, which ferociously opposed Common Core and now ferociously oppose schools.
Unions are meant to be banks for SKILLS. They originated as Mutual Benefit Associations, aka Guilds, to protect and IMPROVE the lives and welfare and SKILLS of their members.
Around 1970 most unions lost their purpose. Life was too easy. They reverted to Parkinsonian form, expanding the budget and workforce of the
union itself and forgetting about the SKILLS and lives of the members. Unions repeatedly struck in industries that had already learned how to offshore factories. Corporations moved to China, leaving the workers and their SKILLS unused and impoverished.
Now the same thing has happened to the Teacher Unions. They lost the chance to improve the SKILLS and usefulness of teachers via Common Core. This year they supported the
offshoring of schools to homes and software, leaving real teachers unused and unemployed. Parents found out that homeschooling is possible, just as corporations found out that China is possible.
The corporate side has moved in the same direction for the same reasons. Under Natural Law, corporations existed to provide products for people and jobs for workers. They were allowed to receive profits AS PAYMENT FOR THESE SERVICES TO SOCIETY.
In the Western world, corporations freed themselves from the Natural Law obligation in the 1800s, then
briefly came back to their senses in the 1930s. Around 1970 they started the switch back to Share Value mode, serving ONLY the NYC shareholders at the expense of workers and customers. Unions assisted in this switch, and the union leaders were probably well paid for their assistance. Corporations offshored most SKILLS and jobs through the 80s and 90s, and this year they finished the project with lockdowns that were SPECIFICALLY TARGETED at the few remaining non-offshorable jobs.
