It's not that simple
Berenson is discussing the pressures toward conformity among doctors.
I have heard from so many nurses and physicians about the internal pressure they feel to conform to the narrative. (Much like what’s happening at @nytimes, actually.)
Easy to be honest as an outsider. Far harder from the inside.
Partly true. When your job doesn't depend on conformity, you have more room to be honest. Most of the honesty on
any issue comes from retired experts, not currently employed experts.
On the exact opposite hand, an independent outsider can't afford to disobey tyrannical rules. Some commentators are encouraging non-compliance with suicide masks. This simply won't work unless EVERYONE is organized in advance and EVERYONE disobeys en masse like BLM. Old-fashioned unions were able to strike effectively because they had strike funds and food stored up in advance.
But the people Berenson is talking about are not young beginners who are still paying off college debts, and they're not independent powerless outsiders. They have SOME power. Berenson's wife is a highly paid psychiatrist with a secure job, and her colleagues are also highly placed. They should feel more free to discuss
internally. And after discussing internally and realizing that almost everyone knows the truth, they should be able to act
in unison with a public statement of dissent.
Some of the best admissions of truth in this mess have come from the
CEOs of hospitals and hospital chains, who have publicly disputed the media and government reports of overloaded hospitals, and disputed the government data about "cases" and "infections".
Supposedly the government subsidies for "virus" cases are providing a monetary incentive for dishonesty, but those hospital CEOs weren't listening to the incentive.

In the political realm, media pressure is always there, but some politicians manage to ignore it. The governor of Florida is right in the middle of NYC media. Half of Floridians are NYC Democrats. Florida is famously the Battleground State where votes actually count. It's not a "safe" situation, yet DeSantis remains courageous and continues doing the right thing. (So far!)
The media in Europe are just as fully Satanic as the media in US and UK. EU is the dark heart of globalism. Despite that, nearly all EU countries have pulled out of the lockdown and aren't likely to fall back.
EU leaders are NOT being assassinated or removed after they do the right thing.
For insiders with some power, the option of honesty and sanity is AVAILABLE. Very often a bully looks totally unbeatable until enough people start to push back with firmness and resolve. You don't know how far you can push until you try, and often you'll find that the bully collapses under sufficient resistance.
EU leaders seem to understand this point. Most US/UK leaders are either demonic
holocausters like Inslee who ENJOY murder, or unwilling to test the limits of the bully.
