Too gentle
Berenson is being too gentle at this point.
Responding to the Florida governor's relatively sane but overly gradual reopening:
And @govrondesantis is increasingly unwilling to sugarcoat too. Which is crucial. States can’t just reopen. Leaders have to take on the panic porn directly or the Karens and Neils will be too scared to work or shop and the economy will remain crippled.
No. States can 'just reopen'. On the front end of this holocaust, states 'just closed' and started the mass murder without any preparation or justification or reason except bloodlust.
The sane people had to adapt.
Turnabout is fair play. Now it's the Karens who have to adapt. Sooner or later they will. Most of these folks were NOT afraid of life before the panic started. A few of them are permanent and incurable OCD, but most were knocked down and discombobulated by the overwhelming TSUNAMI of poison from media and governments. Shock is a real thing. Dosage counts with mental poison just as it does with physical viruses.
Peer pressure and observation will gradually change attitudes. When Karen's friends are having fun and taking their kids to the lake, Karen's kids will join them with or without Karen's permission, and Karen will get jealous.
Postponing the peer pressure just delays the recovery from the panic virus. It will take time no matter what, but there's no reason to delay the START of the recovery.
