It's Wheatstone every time
Pretty much everything I find interesting was started by
Wheatstone, even when I don't know it.
In looking for a new 'patient machine' project, I bumped into this:
The
sidereal transit procedure that grabbed my attention in the Elgin Observatory was first proposed by Wheatstone in 1841, then implemented by an American named Bond. The name of Wheatstone was never mentioned in the material I'd been reading.
